3 weeks old? Sounds like baby acne, comes and goes by itself, does not necessarily need medication. Just bathe baby and if possible, don't apply cream or oil to the face.

PS: Sudocream is not recommended for baby's face, please stop using it on her delicate face.

This is going to be me in 2weeks time. Got the job I was praying for, now I'm having Pre-seperation anxiety. My baby is Ebf. I don't even know anything about formula.He is 4months old today.

What do u apply on her body after bath? stop it for a while and watch her. She might be allergic to the soap and oil. My ds had rashes on his face the first week,i was advised to discontinue his oil as he might be allergic to it. I applied coconut oil d following morning and by evening d rashes started disappearing. I continued using the coconut oil for him even for his hair.He'll be 10weeks tmrw and he's spotless.

I used glycerin for my first but didn't use it for the second one. Just cotton wool dipped in clean water.

Three days after we started giving her, she coughed all through the night to the extent that she could not sleep. Had to take her back to the hospital and she was nebulized twice. The doctor then gave us piriton, azithromycin and prednisolone. The prednisolone is new to me so I decided to check it online. The information I saw on it was scary to say the least. Now, I'm scared to give her. Should I go ahead or not? Please help.

Does your LO have Asthma cos the few people I know (adults) that used Prednisolone were on treatment for Asthma.

The doctor checked her chest and said it's clear but said he suspects a type of asthma that it's symptom is just non-stop cough because that's how she has been coughing since middle of the night to the extent that she can't eat and is weak.

Well, I'm no doctor so I don't know if it's used for confirmed or/and suspected cases of Asthma. Was it a general practitioner or a Paed?
If it's not a Paed, I'd say dont use it yet, take her to a Paed.

He will stop it on his own but if you not too comfortable with it, anytime he does it, gently close his mouth.

Please go ahead and administer the prednisolone asap as instructed.

If I remember correctly, the drug comes in small plastic tubes.

My son had similar scare some few months ago. It started as a rather chesty cough. I took him to the GP and the doctor I saw refused to give him any drugs and said the cough would stop on its own as his chest was clear.

Few days later, I noticed that on one night,his breathing was chesty and rather heavy. He kept coughing all night and my instincts told me something wasn’t right. I took him to A & E the next day. He was checked and the paediatrician detected a little wheezing in his breathing.

Right there on the spot he was given prednisolone and he had to use an inhaler. The relief was almost instant. He was monitored for about 3 hours and we were told we could go home. (I was initially told he was going to be admitted).

I was sent home with instructions to administer the final dose of prednisolone and the inhaler. I did as I was told, administered the inhaler for about a week and I took him back for a follow up check after 2 weeks ( I was told to return back to A & E immediately if there was any further symptoms). He was given the all clear during the 2 weeks check and I have not used the inhaler or any other drug since then (this happened in July).

I was told the prescribing an inhaler doesn’t mean the child has asthma and that the inhaler helps to open up the lungs hence helping with breathing. Attached is the picture of the device that was used to administer the inhaler at the hospital and I was also given the device to take home.

You can read more about wheezing in children. It’s basically a very bad cold infection

Just to add.

Do not exceed the dosage prescribed by the doctor/paediatrician.

I was given a full pack of predisolone and told to discard about 4 - 6 unused tubes. I did as I was told and even binned the rest to avoid the temptation of administering the drug in future as a “home remedy”. It is a very effective medication though as I saw remarkable difference in my son’s breathing and coughing in less than 6 hours.

I kept the empty pack though just for future reference and I still have the remaining inhaler tucked in my medicine cabinet.

You can. Been using glycerin fro my baby since she was 2weeks old. However, it's not an everyday sontin. We do 2 or 3times per week

Pls permit me to rant. I have been on peeping mode for awhile now. My dear son eats just little cereal and sucks the living day light out of me ( my breast is crying for help).
May while I have been trying not to feel depressed about my not being able to sing as I used to pre- pregnancy. Cos my annoying choir members won't understand rather u hear words like ( *just only this one child u can't sing again *sis I can't hear ur voice sing out) Oh my God! what an insensitive set of people.
My mum is another insensitive people. She comes and start screaming u don't have food in ur house, u can't cook fried rice(Fried rice ke), u are too stingy and u are hiding ur feeding allowance. With an eight months baby that will just sleep for 30mins and wake up or that can only sit on his own for 30mins max.

When u manage to offer her food she will ask how long have u had this food and say its not fresh. When I say let me fry egg for her she will just say I beg eh, then when u have moved on to something else she will then ask where is the egg nah.

She can't help me go to market to shop without her complaining I want to turn her to house help or that she doesn't want to come to my area so she can't buy the things for me.
She just can't understand that I am alone with this baby and I can't carry him under sun to the market. I really need someone that will at least be with my baby in the car for me to buy all I need from the market. She keep saying when she gave birth to us she does her things herself forgetting she lived in a family compound with different sil,bil and neighbors that helped out.

She comes to my house at 7pm when i'm feeding my baby and she bangs the gate and screams at me expecting that I hurry and open for her cos she doesn't like to stand out for long. Then one very annoying thing she did she called me from kitchen to come put on Tv for her with the remote control that is just by her corner, I refused and told her to tell my baby to do it cos he does it with ease. I am so tired of everything around.
