aadvark:They make them into tap in merchants from the production line these days. The days of Ronaldo de Lima is gone. As for your other observations you are spot on. Mickael2 has opined too that we need a CF that combines both hold up play attributes and that of a poacher. The only difference is that he might not agree with you on Ighalo. As for Dessers, you deserve a chilled drink of whatever brand you take with goat head pepper soup. |

Mujtahida:He started representing Greece when he was just 20. How could you blame the Nbbf for not reaching out to a 19 year old playing in Greek A2? Come on! You honestly want to blame Nigeria for not reaching out to every kid in America and Europe? Do you know how many NBA basketballer who have turned down Nigeria? Someone like Andre Iguduala does not even acknowledge his Benin ancestry. Is it Oladipo? This guy was begged to come play for us at the last Olympics. He bluntly refused even when he's known to mingle well within the Nigerian community in Houston. How about Emeka Okafor when he lead the NBA blocks then at Bobcats? He didn't even want to entertain the thoughts of turning out for us. I knew his sister back in 2003. How about Festus Ezeli? We have to be honest with ourselves and understand that we cannot get everyone to play for us. Its rather childish to always blame Nigeria for missing out on choice players. Gbinije and a host of other guys who turned out for us lately where poached while they played college basketball. The youngest of the Antetokumpo brothers pledged his international future to Greece while still in high school (he had crazy numbers in high school). 3 Likes |

tbaba1234:I'm not taking anything away from his play, I'm just pointing out that his style of play does not suit us as much as Dessers does. where he's left with the only option of shooting from distance, he'll flounder, and trust me, Eagles strikers get put in such situations often. what about taking on 2-3 defenders head on, he isn't as good as Dessers there too. Put Tammy in a team like Spain's where a lot of creativity goes on, and he'll score till u beg him to stop. But in a team like Nigeria's, Dessers is the better option, I'm sorry 7 Likes |

goldfish80: I just wanted to know the reason why they choose to play for Greece over Nigeria. I am not blaming Nigeria. I am only saying it would be great if we adopted a more forward approach and that to adopt a strategy of saying they must declare first for us before we invite them is being unrealistic if we chose that as our ONLY strategy. And do you know that I mentioned Atetokuonmpo just as a background to the main point I wanted to make namely that they are parents with kids all over the world looking for ways through which their kids can represent Nigeria and I feel that engagement and contact with them can solve that problem. Are you happy with what we are doing with fifteen year old Omadiji? He's just fifteen years old, NFF sends him happy birthday wishes. Do they do that to every kid? No! But we appreciate what they are doing. They are saying we care, we want to be part of your world. That's not begging. That's engagement, that's building relationship. We cannot pursue every kid. Let's pursue the talented ones early and even at that we will lose some, and win some. We have played and lost many football matches, important ones too but we've not stopped playing football altogether. So for all those who we approached and they declined, we possibly have those we approached and they accepted. So I am vehemently against the adoption of one strategy. Joebie has written a fine piece that expresses my full sentiments on this issue. I endorse it and adopt it as mine(with his kind permission) |

forgiveness: Alaba was not known enough to get an invitation. If he was determined to play for us, he would not have waited up to a year to get invited. He had a growing reputation and also wanted to play for Austria. That is why he easily joined them. He was Seventeen. You can not blame NFF. I wish Alaba the best. |

Joebie: I kind of like video evidence but with a proviso. If I do I would look at individual 5-7 minute clips of a individual games. Clips with have highlighted moments of 7/8 games compressed into one video can easily make you look better than you actually are. I have a friend who has been a head of recruitment at least 4 different EPL clubs. He is kind of old school but he will not sign a player without looking at the player in live matches himself. To be honest I initially felt that these guys needed to do more. But when I look at the level of player we are inviting to the SE. I have changed my view. Whatever league you are playing in you need to be the stand out player. Just like Aina best RB in the championship and Tega top striker in the Championship last season. He has further progressed his quality in the EPL. Chuks Aneke has been a stand out player in his league. But more so in team that is known for good quality technical football. MK Dons. If not for injury he would have further cemented his position and or moved upwards to a higher league. |

forgiveness: What does Mbappe at 18 has to do with this? How many 17 year old have played for Super Eagles in recent years. It is not that easy. By the way, I am a Van Gaal fan since the days of Finidi George. So you can understand my joy seeing a young Nigerian working with Van Gaal at Bayern. |

Sir Icon, actually, I don't have any problem with debating tactics and player selections as long as it's done within reason. My only concern is that some of us often go overboard and even take stuff too personal .... forgetting that this is only a fan site. Take for instance, before the game against Zambia I discussed my probably line up and analyzed why I would start Iheanacho (in place of Ighalo), Iwobi (in place of Moses Simon) and Etebo in place of Ndidi (and then move Ndidi to DM in place of Onazi). And to this day I believe that we could've performed better if the team had started with the aforementioned players; however, you won't see me getting all emotional and try to assume that I know better than the coaches. That's the point I was tryna make. O pari Icon4s: 1 Like |

TheGoodJoe:This is your own approach na. Abi are you not the one singing declare, declare for us since morning? My approach is engage, build rapport, establish relationship. So long as you agreed 100% with what Joebie wrote I see no need dragging this issue further. Discussions are meant to be profitable not fruitless back and forth. I was even aghast when I saw you approve what he wrote because that was nothing but an explanation of what engagement with foreign born players mean. I think next time before I get into argument with you I'd first ask you if you understand my point. |
