tbaba1234: In my far from comprehensive look at Ogu and Aneke in comparison. I would some may call it biased, but my preference would be for Aneke. Essentially because Aneke does everything Ogu does but with more aggression, a far wider and more accurate passing range an ability to shoot long range with both feet, a lot more pace and presence. |

TheGoodJoe: That was why it was a big news then because a 17 years old player that begged to play for Nigeria broke into Bayern Munich first team A popular football analyst even wrote about him and suggested NFF cap him but dem no gree. When Austria realised Nigerian press wrote about him and pressured NFF to cap him they quickly handed him invitation. That was why Austria rushed and capped him at 17 while NFF dey do suwegbe. I can never forget what happened then. |

Mujtahida: Please. Joebie highlighted us setting up an apparatus for them to declare so we can know those to invite. He talked of database and also inviting some to camp when we are in Europe which is not a regular occurrence (not the rapport you are preaching). The key point is database and an apparatus to declare. Not what you are suggesting. |

Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 8:25pm On Nov 07, 2017 |
forgiveness: An analyst can write but it will not immediately sway the coach to consider a seventeen years old ready for the Super Eagles. By the way, Alaba enquired to play for the U17 team which is mostly made of homegrown players. Alaba even hinted about logistics probably a reason. As I said, we can not be blamed. Austria knew him because he grew up there. Wish him the best. |

forgiveness: That I do not know. I am telling you what I noticed when people were criticising why Alaba did not play for us. That was 2009/2010. The critiques were not calling for him to have been in the Super Eagles before Austria called him. |

forgiveness: That is Van Gaal. He has that rep of giving young players a chance. From Ajax were he had young players to Barcelona. Even at Manchester United, Van Gaal gave young players chance to grow. Different from the Super Eagles set-up. |

TheGoodJoe: So, don't talk what you don't know. David Alaba was never eligible to play for Nigeria under grade competition because he had been capped by Austria as far back at 2007. Therefore, it would be unreasonably for critics to call him for U20. Gbam! |

Mujtahida: THANK YOU VERY MUCH Very well said. Yes, I will tell categorically that the way we approach player engagement leading to recruitment / selection is far from professional. They say leopards do not change thier spots. We Nigerians have some ingrained mannerisms that we don't even know are rude, insensitive and downright insulting. That may be OK in Nigeria but in terms of the UK you are literally murdering etiquette, decorum and acceptable behaviour. Most of our engagement are done on the pages of newspapers. Let's say I have been engaged with a lot of these players directly or indirectly. The nature and substance of our engagement is a joke. Yes Amaju tried he spoke to some players directly. But well before he actually talks to those players there should have been past present and continous substantive engagements to create a sense of belonging and identity. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 8:41pm On Nov 07, 2017 |
forgiveness: You can say those criticising Siasia did not know Alaba was not eligible to play for Nigeria. That exonerates Siasia from the criticism. Not saying I should not say what I do not know. So you can see that the NFF can not be blamed for Alaba not playing for us. Thanks for the contribution and clearing that out. |

Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by komekn(m): 8:50pm On Nov 07, 2017 |
Mujtahida: The way Sone Aluko was and has been treated is shockingly abysmal. It is not good PR for the SE and does not endear us too players here in England. People are talking about, Tega Abrahams saying England will soon drop you. Just look at Englands past behaviour. The same can be said of the NFF with regards to how Sone Aluko, Anichebe and others were treated. So it's not like we are saints. I will not even go down the road of our ingrained Egunje politics at the NFF. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 8:50pm On Nov 07, 2017 |
forgiveness: We knew them. Opabunmi played U17 with us, Bartholomew Ogbeche had a local cult following, I think from his days at Calabar Rovers. We did not know nada of Alaba in Austria to hand him a Super Eagles call-up. Even that year, he was still in the junior team of Bayern before he made the climb. |

Mujtahida: I like the Omidji example you pointed out. I hope you realise the boys parents were always edging him close to Nigeria. He traveled sometime ago to meet some Super Eagles players. If his parents didn't take steps to channel his thoughts towards Nigeria, trust me, the Nff wouldn't have heard about him let alone sending birthday wishes to him. Sometimes you just have to show interest. If you're good enough, you will get invited. Also, we must one thing very clearly. Because you're born in Europe doesn't automatically make you better than everyone else. This was how the Swiss born Ukoh was capped severally because na oyibo. Recall Semi Ajayi made John obuhs U20s? I laughed so hard. I mean, if the boy went into an arse kicking content against a one legged man, he will loose! Thats how incompetent the lad is, yet he took up squad space just because he was born in London and trained with Arsenal U23s. We must be careful. Being born in Europe is not some Holy grail or passport to success. Poaching foreign born players shouldn't be standard practice for a country like ours, especially in football. 5 Likes 1 Share |

Joebie: All these guys you call patriotic, do we really know what patriotism means. If it were possible to induce players to change allegiance. If the right amount if money with passport £££€€€$$$$ were offered how many of these Naija boys no go jump ship. So let's not stress this talk of being patriotic. Most of our esteemed leaders who have raped the country dry are considered esteemed patriots. |
