Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Mujtahida: 9:12pm On Nov 07, 2017 |
Joebie Well, let's not be sentimental so we can think clearly. This is my suggestion on the matter.Sometimes we look like beggars, just because we don't have a system of approaching. Sir goodjoe, This same issue of having a system of approach was why I endorsed kome.kn's suggestion before you queried my endorsement. So now let's see if what Joebie wrote which you have endorsed 100% is any different from saying that a system of engagement and rapport be built with this players. Now let's take a walk. Firstly we need a database. These players should be put in the database while still in their early teens. Relationship with the players and their parents should be maintained.Goodjoe you didn't read relationship here abi? You didn't read getting their data while they are still teens? What does getting their data as teens portend? Are you getting their data just so that you save it and wait for the day they declare that they want to play for Nigeria and then you go back to the databank and tick 'declared' against the name of whosoever? Why didn't you first asked me what I meant by engagement and building of rapport? Secondly, these players, on a rotation basis should be invited to train with the big boys whenever we are camped in Europe. This would make the players have a relationship not only with the senior players but also the coaches handling the team.Goodjoe did you see that word 'relationship' again? Did you see players must make 'a declaration first' from the first paragraph till now? No! The whole piece stresses one word:relationship, relationship, relationship. Thirdly, we should send correspondence to these players at important dates, and provide option for them to indicate their availability for National assignments with Nigeria Who do we send correspondence to in daily life? We send it to those we have relationship with. So Goodjoe what is being stressed here again: relationship, relationship, relationship ie engagement, rapport. That's precisely what the NFF and Super Eagles players do with Omadiji the fifteen year old boy when they send him happy birthday messages and the thing dey sweet the boy wella. We are not waiting for him to declare no sh!t. We are taking the initiative, telling him, Oo boy we dey here ooo. Plus we give them option to indicate their availability to show them it's not by force. They should be informed, the option is just for them to show interest, not a guarantee that they will be called up. This way we know from the onset those who are nursing an ambition to play for Nigeria, and those who remain interested.Pay attention to the bolded: How do we know? We know because of rapport and engagement forged quite early. At the end of the day because we have established relationship we can decipher who has the desire to play for us and who does not. With this process put in place, we will not need any middle man or any team to meet with these players for talks when we need them. We will make the job easier for our coaches. All they need do is look at the numbers and make the right approaches according to need. This system helps us avoid fire brigade approach and it's inherent risk of exposing us to 'embarrassment'. With this process in place we will avoid the embarrassment of the Tammy saga because our engagement and rapport building system would help us to tell Pinnick 'Oga leave that Tammy, we've been in touch with him for sometime now, we know where his heart tilts, forget him. Let's go for Dessers. Dude is yearning to play for us'. You guys hate the 'embarrassment' Tammy caused. We brought up a an idea for a system that would make us avoid such occurrence again una begin cry 'no! no! no! that's begging'. Wetin una want again? And by the way do you know who convinced Ola Aina to play for us? Hahahaha hahahaha hahahaha, Mikel did! Mikel engaged him and used their relationship as a basis to convince him. If na you now, you for sit down dey wait for Aina to declare first. Thank God for Mikel. Thank God for Joebie. The guy get sense die! 2 Likes |

goldfish80:I agree completely with what you just wrote. You used the word 'sometimes' and that's just my whole emphasis. Sometimes some will show interest, some will not do so unless we engage them. Just now I just watched Senniger's interview he had on Channels TV (early this year). Do you know what he said? He said his Dad as well as his Uncle wants him to play for Germany but he chose Nigeria. I mention it to contrast with Omadiji and his parents and to show that different strokes for different folks Now you made a very, very important point and I have said it in passing sometimes ago that I perceive some kind of preference on our part for the foreign born player and that if we continue at this rate they'd dominate our team. Beyond foreign born, the crucial issue should be is this guy good enough for our team? I would not support where we draft in average foreign born players into the team just to flatter ourselves. They must be good enough. Finally developing our home league is our responsibility. We must do it. It however doesn't detract from our reaching out to quality FB players to enrich our pool of players. And may I say that our league cannot develop in isolation from the general trend of development across all sectors in Nigeria. Until that day comes we'd keep playing football. |

Icon79: How do you know that And so what You are making assumption upon assumption garnished with more presumptuous deductions underpinned with nothing but fresh air. Mourinho was a Translator in Barcelona when Rohr was coaching, possibly Pep wasn't born when Rohr was involved in football. But who is Rohr comparedto them now. Indeed in the scheme of world football management where would Rohr be ranked despite his Methusela experience. Because you played football doesn't mean you will.be a great coach and or manager. If Rohr wanted to Manage a league one team in England would he even be considered. Some of the players some of us know up close and personal too. Rohr sees them for a few weeks at a time. What about coaches and team that work with them week in week out for years. So talk for yourself and nobody else. 1 Like |

TheGoodJoe:I have broken down that Joebie's piece for you. You can ask him if my exegesis on his piece is in any way wrong. The key point is not data Base but relationship. Nobody eats data. The data is for purposes of relationship. Please I am forced to ask this question: do you know what rapport means? I hope you will not regard this as being condescending. I ask in all sincerity: do you know what rapport means? |

Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 10:26pm On Nov 07, 2017 |
Mujtahida: The relation is to build rapport. That was your term. My problem has always been with those that do not feel Nigerian. Alaba feels Nigerian. That is why I agreed with Joebie to establish a database and a means of identifying those that want to play for us. Not begging and convincing them to play for us. Gerrit? |

cc: Mujtahida You gats to be kidding me if you believe Mikel convinced Ola Aina to play for Nigeria. The question with Ola was when he would switch. Not making him feel Nigerian. He was already feeling Nigerian. He even explained that as a kid he plays with Nigeria on his game console when playing international matches. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Joebie: 10:36pm On Nov 07, 2017 |
Sir, I will break it down further later when I have more time in my hands. And Mujtahida is right, building relationship goes side by side with it. Engagement is important. And that does not mean begging. with the system, we will not have to approach players we already know are not interested, because we have already played our part as regards engaging them and carrying them along. With the system, we won't need to get the NfF involved in trying to talk to players. Coaches will just key into the system and identify players that are available, and will simply invite. Drama free. Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Mujtahida: 10:47pm On Nov 07, 2017 |
TheGoodJoe:I have not debated with you on feeling Nigerian. Don't introduce a new element into our discussion. I talked about engagement and building rapport with foreign born players. You talked about waiting for those who want to play for us to declare first before we approach them. Feeling Nigerian has not been the focal point of this discourse. So stay on course On Ola Aina read this ' "The one person that I would say has been an influence to me a little bit is John Obi Mikel," Aina told Goal . "I was first talking to him three years ago about it [playing for Nigeria]. Last season, the season before and the season before that. "Two years on, it has finally happened. Anything that comes from Obi is respected and I was happy that he invited me to come and join the team. He is very respected. He is our skipper, he is our captain. Every respects him entirely as they should. Link to the full article http://www.goal.com/en-ng/news/chelsea-loanee-ola-aina-chose-nigeria-because-of-john-obi/1r5668pi9qlyt1w05nu6w032os. Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Mujtahida: 10:53pm On Nov 07, 2017 |
Joebie:This is the only system that can save us from 'embarrassment'(I use the quotes for those who see the Tammy saga as embarrassment cos I don't see it so at all). Once we fail to do this we will just have to beg and be ready for more 'embarrassments' |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Mujtahida: 10:59pm On Nov 07, 2017 |
TheGoodJoe:But you have deftly ignored by what process we get to know those who are not interested. The process is by engaging them early on, building relationship. It is that that would now inform you : Eze has a heart for Nigeria, Linus does not, Vinicus is undecided but it's likely that of we convince him he'd change his mind. Etc. Data, raw data without establishing relationship will profit you nothing. In fact you can't get the data without establishing relationship unless it's some robot from space that would come supply you the data of FB players of Nigerian descent. |

Kog45:Hahahaha hahahaha. I don tire sef. It's a real drill arguing with goodjoe. But I understand his point. He is saying we should only go for those who declare for us (aka those who feel Nigerian enough to declare for us abi) and I say yes but we must not stop there. I say we must not always wait for declarations of fealty to be made because not everyone is Balogun. Some are Ebuehi. We must establish relationship with foreign born players and persuade them. He say no! That that is begging. Hahahaha hahahaha . but Ebuehi is with us today and goodjoe has not been able to answer the question of how convincing Ebuehi amounts to begging. No be this kind thinking dey make man say to tell him wife 'please' mean say him be weak man? 3 Likes |
