Hello rolextoni - You should provide the documents which were requested. If one of those was your son's passport, you should provide it. If your son's passport was not requested, you do not need to provide it. LagosNIV |

Hello there... I have had a very humbling experience so far with my B1/B2 visa renewal application. My application has been under admins processing since December 2016. Can you believe that?? Did a follow up interview in January. Ddnt hear anything till around June, when I was asked to send in my passport.. After a few weeks, passport's returned back and asked to fill a DS5535 form and send back together with passport. After another few weeks, passport is sent back. Nothing.. Several months later, was sent an email saying that the DS5535 form I filled wasnt readable and was sent a new form in email format to fill.. I filled that and sent, but still havent heard anything since then. I sent a few follow up emails as reminder, but still no response. This is 11months and counting, now I'm at my wits end. Is there anything that I am not doing right?? Or is my case caught up behind a long and heavy backlog list? Please kindly advise or help intervene in this case. Thanks... |

Hello @AbujaNIV @LagosNIV Good morning, I made a little error while filling my DS160 form. I filled the space for full name(in native language) with my given names. I have already scheduled an appointment with the application ID. Do I fill another DS 160 quickly? Or is it a negligible error?. Thank you in anticipation of a prompt response. |

LagosNIV: @LagosNIV, I am not sure I remember all documents that was requested. I was quiet perplexed when I was being asked about such documents. Is there a way I can find out which documents am suppose to present? Regards, |

Hello rolextoni - Yes, read the letter which was given to you. Any time an application is refused under section 221g for more documents needed, we write down the documents which are needed. If you need further guidance, please email LagosNIV@state.gov if your application is pending in Lagos or ConsularAbuja@state.gov if your application is pending in Abuja. LagosNIV 1 Like |

Hello @Abjniv, i submitted my visa renewal application via drop box and after about a month I was asked to pick up my passport and schedule an appointment with my 221g letter. I was not asked to bring any documents. I was also not able to secure an appointment before my intended date of travel. The event I was to attend has passed but I was able to reschedule for Oct/Nov 2018. I do not have plans to travel to the USA before then. my question is should I still attend my interview at the end of the month or do i cancel and wait till middle of next year to fill another form with my new travel plans and schedule an appointment. |

Hello Tripletmom - A new DS160 should be filled out with complete and accurate information for each application. LagosNIV Tripletmom: |

Hello lexielux - The timing of when you schedule the interview is entirely up to you. Refusals under section 221g are only able to be overcome within 1 year of the refusal. If you wait longer than 1 year from the date of the 221g letter you will be required to file a new application and pay a new application fee. LagosNIV lexielux: |
Re: U.S. Non-immigrant Visas: We’re Listening by Nobody: 2:35pm On Nov 08, 2017 |
Hello domcreative - There is no way to edit previously used DS160s. You are responsible for your application, even if you choose to use an agent to help you file it. You will now have to deal with the consequences of your choice. You can file a new DS160 with truthful information. I would encourage you to bring the situation to the attention of the officer who interviews you without waiting to see if we notice the discrepancies. It may take some time to re-establish your credibility with the United States, but ultimately the path to doing so begins with full disclosure of the truth. LagosNIV domcreative: 1 Like |

Good day VO's, My family and I recently tried renewing our B1/B2 visas via dropbox. Hpwever our passports were returned and we were asked to schedule a follow up interview. My issue is this as at the time we did the dropbox application my daughter's passport had more than 6 months validity. However the date for the follow up interview will bring her passport validity below 6 months. Seeing as this passport information is already on the DS160 and Gtbank receipt will this be an issue. Kindly advice. |

Hello paulsdot - No, this will not be a problem. You will need to get a new passport for her to travel with, but the visa can be issued and placed in this passport. LagosNIV paulsdot: |

Hello anoluwa222 - 1) He should apply for the visa, through the same process you did. I imagine you can give him guidance if he has questions. Start at www.ustraveldocs.com/ng 2) No. 3) Yes. 4) Not until this one expires. LagosNIV anuoluwa222: 1 Like |

The following day on the 3rd, I drop the divorce decree with my passport at the DHL collection center at V.I.. I want to know if my passport and document has gotten to the embassy for processing. My immigrant visa case number is (LGS2016662033).. Passport number A08656097.. CR1.. please help us.. We need each other so bad. My wife is emotionally sick as I write. Your time to time update will be of help to us.. Thank you vo. |

Hello jaybros - The US does not have a visa which would allow a friend to sponsor another to come work in the US. To work in the US you will generally need to have a petition filed with US Citizenship and Immigration Services on your behalf by an employer for one of the several classifications of visas which are intended for non-immigrant workers. There are a few employment based visas which do not require a USCIS petition, but they do require that you have the employment in advance. For more information about each of these classifications of visas, please visit https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/employment.html LagosNIV jaybros: 1 Like |

All questions on the DS160 should be answered completely and accurately. If you discover you have made an error, you should fill out a new DS160 and associate the new barcode from that DS160 with your appointment. LagosNIV temitope2598: 1 Like |

I have been to The states before and back. I did a renew B1/B2 visa in 2015. The programme I planned to attend with the visa was canceled so I did not use the visa again till it expired October this year. Just to find out if not traveling will be an issue if I go for visa application next year. |

Hi, I will be going for an interview next month, my employer is sponsoring my graduate education. Can I go with either a sponsorship letter from the employer or the company's statement of account, maybe the two would be appropriate? Thanks. |

Good day VO and thanks for the good work. We got a visa (B1/B2) in 2014 and during the interview, the VO asked if my wife was pregnant. She answered in the affirmative and the VO asked if she intends giving birth in the US and she answered YES. The VO also asked asked if we were actually travelling in December (cause that was what we said in our DS-160 form and we already had a UK visa). We told the VO yes. She advised us that giving birth in the US was quite expensive after which she gave us a form with information concerning giving birth in the US (we still have the form). Indeed, true to our words, we traveled in December of 2014, returned back in January of 2015. My wife went back in April 2015. At the POE, she told the CBP officer her intention, who asked for a correspondence. She showed the CBP officer her receipt of payment for the doctor (we met the doctor during our December trip and paid him fully for his service). We did same in August 2016 when she went to have her our second child. In 2017 when she applied for dropbox, she was asked to come for interview. During the interview, after answering all questions, the VO told her that the former VO (who interviewed us in 2014 ) didn't state that she was going to give birth in the US although the VO stated that she was pregnant at the point of the interview. She never hid her intentions from day one and was surprised to be refused on that ground. Please advise. |

Hey! LagNIV and ABJNIV Many props for your good works here.. There is a case of someone who was denied a NI F1 Visa about 15yrs ago. The person had a mistaken date of birth on that passport of 15yrs ago. Now, in 2017, he's reapplied with corect date of bitth on a brand new 2017 passport and scheduled for interview soon.. Q- Does this single past mistake of 15 yrs ago automatically lower their chance of getting a visa approved now. N.B- In his DS- 160 form where asked have u ever been refused a visa? Explain? He answered in the affirmative- simply stating he was refused an F1 visa 15 yes ago. |

hello. When I was filling out my DS-160 form, the passport I tried to upload was rejected by the system and I was asked to come with a passport photograph to the interview. On the said interview date, I was turned back for not uploading my passport and was given a letter that said i should not make a new ds-160 application. The thing now is that I don't know how to upload a passport to an already submitted ds-160 form. If I fill out another form, it will definitely have a different bar-code. So what do I do? |

I have travelled once to the states. my wife applied for tourist visa afterwards but was denied, my question is this, do I need to do a Dropbox for renewal then make a photocopy of the visa page for my wife to take along with her for another interview or do I wait until my visa expires then instead of the Dropbox, apply again with my wife. please what do you advice. |

Dear AbujaNIV and LagosNIV Thank you again for patiently answering our many questions. My visa was approved over a week ago but I am yet to get my passport back. Sadly, I missed the meeting in the US. I am getting worried because I need my passport to travel to another country next week. My application status on ceac says "issued". I have called and emailed the contact centre. I am at my wits end and not sure what to do LagosNIV: |
