Mujtahida:

Did you really just use that analogy in your first paragraph? Please go and ask Mikel, Kanu, Jay Jay who moulded them footballwise. Your analogy is imperfect. What you sent to America is not caftan. It was material you sent to America. You know how I know? Why don't you use the kaftans you have at home whenever you are going for a party? They are simply not good enough. I have no illusions. Nigeria is a country of great potential. Potential. That's what it is. In actuality, we not there yet.
This is where I'd embrace the second limb of your posts. But I will still reiterate my earlier point: What happens to your hospitals, what happens to your schools? What happens to your roads? Do your Engineers build your bridges or make your cars? Football is not the ultimate. We must aim to develop every part of our society.

You this guy, I deh suspect you, you deh my mind, my thoughts, my view.

GBAM 100% Seconded.

Bro, I think it's presumptuous of you to assume that you'll understand the current Super Eagles team, based solely on watching some of these players on TV, better than Gernot Rohr who has trained them, interacted with them, watch them play and video analyzed their games over the past several months. Here's one thing you'd understand: watching the game on television is dramatically different from watching it live. In addition, coach Rohr has a video analyst who helps him breakdown each player's game - frame by frame. Talking from experience, it would open your eyes when a coach goes over your game frame by frame.

And if you think that experience doesn't count when it comes to coaching then I really don't know what else to say. Yes, Jose Mourinho may had dabbled into coaching with zero experience (if that's the case), but that's the exception NOT the rule. Not many of us here is Mourinho.

Go also to those EPL and UCL pre-match analysts that watch from the studio screens and tell them to stop analysing tactics as they don't know better than the coaches on the field.

Algerian Coach

Madjer: "The team is in a crisis, the players have gone through a difficult period, we have to start winning again. For me, this Nigeria match is not a friendly, it's the first match of the qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup."

There was too much instability with the coaches, everyone had their ideas and their players. What has to change is on the tactical front. The team is in a comma, we have to bring it back to life. We have to give the players confidence again.

M'Bolhi and Feghouli are the big absences but Ounas and Boudebouz are also missing. Feghouli has not been permanently dropped, (and) there is no M'Bolhi issue, Mansouri was captain of the team and didn't play in the 2010 World Cup.

There is an urgency with the two matches so we didn't have the time to travel and choose the players. After these matches we will travel with the coaching staff to find the hidden talents.

For Medjani, I'm not sure what led him to announce his international reitrement. I need Medjani for the next couple of years, for #AFCON2019. For the 2022 World Cup, we have youngsters like Abdellaoui."

The problem we have us what makes a good coach, is such a hard question to answer.

Winning
Long term stability and structured delivery and consistency
Player development present and future.
Team strategy and Management
Fair-Play, integrity, respect and honour.

You have people like Allardyce, Dyche, Moyes who are not technically astute but practically effective. Hardly develop or improve player's by can seemingly create consistency within that delivery framework.

Outside of Wenger my best preferred Manager in the EPL is Chris Houghton. He ticks Al the boxes for me.

In my opinion knowledge counts for more than experience, it's the effective application of knowledge that is wisdom indeed.

You may find it hard to believe at the beginning of the season, I had a EPL club head of video analysis. Consider my player make an objective recommendation but the head of recruitment aligned with the Chairman over ruled him. Manager could not do anything. What I'm saying video analysis is not as conclusive as you may think.

Playing in the Norwegian league is not the same thing as playing in the EPL. So how do you judge quality

And not all of us judge players from the TV you are being presumptuous. I am sitting in my car keeping warm. Before I venture into the cold to watch a training session at a EPL club in the next 5 minutes.

Wydad Star Chisom On Rumored Call-Up : There's No Nigerian GK Playing In MoroccoWydad Casablanca striker Chisom Chikatara has reacted to rumours suggesting that an 'unnamed' Moroccan-based goalkeeper has been handed a late call-up to the Super Eagles for their upcoming World Cup qualifier against Algeria.

The former Abia Warriors sensation has quickly dismissed the bogus report, saying that there are only three Nigerian players based in Morocco.

''There is no Nigerian goalkeeper playing in Morocco, there are only three of us in Morocco, Tony Edjomariegwe, Popoola Sodiq and myself,'' a bemused Chikatara told allnigeriasoccer.com.

Questioned over his thoughts on the upcoming game against Algeria, Chikatara answered : ''It is very cold in Algeria now, they should keep the ball.

''The Super Eagles have nothing to lose though, I am hoping that Nigeria will still win.''

No uninvited goalkeeper was sighted in the training picture uploaded by the Nigeria Football Federation on the social networks, where goalkeeper coaches Alloy Agu and Enrico Pionetti took Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Francis Uzoho through an intensive session on Wednesday morning.

Chippa United netminder Daniel Akpeyi is already in Rabat and will train with his international teammates in their second workout today.

Baba Icon, I think you guys totally misunderstand where I was coming from. I wasn't trying to imply that we cease and desist from discussing tactics. No, not at all. That's what we're here for .... pundits, critics, analysts, you name it.

I was merely trying to bring order to the house by highlighting the limit of our influence, if you will. Listen, I hope that we've actually a level where we can influence the list of players the NFF would invite to camp but, no, I don't think so. Hence, it bothers me when I see guys almost getting into fist fights over players .... because even if every one of us agree (as in the case of Joel Obi) that a particular player merits an invite, it still wouldn't change the calculations of Gernot Rohr and his employers (NFF). Anyway, that's exactly what I was trying to say.

Dem for dey wail like us abi?Even when these guys were born there and never stepped on Naija soil.Maybe we should learn to admit we win some we lose some but doesn't stop us from trying.

Fact! Tammy et al by history still have their roots here and that can't be denied.
it is not the same thing at all.

Listen to Leon, he had never said anything that could be taken as disrespectful to Germany, at all. Even Deji in all his interviews has never said anything to disrespect Germany. The likes of Dele sef did not insult us the way Tammy did.

Imagine saying "They were willing to roll out the red carpet....." And that is just the least of many.

Eagles Training: Deportivo La Coruna Goalkeeper Uzoho Impresses In Shooting Drills
November 8, 2017019

As part of our build up to the dead rubber World Cup 2018 Qualifiers tie between Nigeria and Algeria, Owngoalnigeria.com contact in Morocco witnessed the Eagles training session.

The goalkeepers of the team had a shooting session which was handled by the goalkeeper trainers Alloy Agu and Enrico Pionetti, with goalkeeper Francis Odinaka Uzoho and Ikechukwu Ezenwa taking part.

During the drills newly invited Deportivo La Coruna shot stopper Uzoho impressed with his long reach especially in diving to make saves, as his impressive height ensure he hardly misses when he dives.

Standing at an impressive height of over six feet tall, Uzoho wasn’t as assured in terms of grip like Ikechukwu Ezenwa who is the number one goalkeeper of the team.

However, Uzoho put up a good performance in training during the morning session, and he will be hoping for more of the same in the second session which will take place later this evening.

Goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi has joined up with the rest of the team, hence they will be three goalkeepers in the team for the session which will focus more on tactical issues ahead of Friday’s game.

It is obvious that this is somewhat a battle between diasporans and those in Nigeria.

Until I join diasporans, I will keep insulting Tammy whatever for bad PR, IG that is how you abroad people go about running mouth in the name of granting interview, I may never be okay with it really.

The boy can play for England, but giving the English press all the ammo they will need to come at us is cheap shots. I hope he remains there for a long time, he won't be the first great player we will be happy to lose, his addition never mattered to me anyway.

Oh, you're in UK. Now I can understand your love for the EPL based players grin

Anyway, like I said, I wasn't trying to make Rohr infallible. As a matter of fact, I don't even think he's a great coach to be quite honest with you. However, I can give him credit that he does his homework. One problem I have about most of our home-based coaches is that they tend to be lazy. If I tell you what I saw during our 2014 World Cup preparation, you'll cry. The whole preparation (the whole US camping) was an eyesore.

goldfish80:

Let em use an analogy to correct your first paragraph.
If an Aba tailor made a caftan for a client in USA and that same client wore the caftan back to Nigeria. Will you say that caftan was made in USA?

We aren't importing players, rather we are exporting players when these players come back and play for us, we are not importing them so to speak.

I know the reason why alot of people freak out when I talk about home grown is because of the fear that they may not get to see Nigerian players in Epl and Champions league because they will all be playing in the NPFL (anyone who says otherwise is lying to himself... Lol)

Look, that idea is very far from what I'm proposing.

When I talk about home grown, I am talking about a proper development channel where talented kids are captured and nurtured. Like we have special science schools, grammar schools, technical colleges and other specialized schools. We could also have football or sports schools.
They are currently doing this in India(I got to know about this when I handled a project for an Indian guy). In the near future India will be a force to reckon with at the Olympics like China and USA.

If we can have this sort of programme running in the country and a solid league system which will absorb these players. The result will be an unprecedented number of Nigerian Sports men going directly from Nigeria to top football clubs in the world.

There won't be a need to roll red carpets for anyone again. The reverse will be the case.

It is very cowardly and lazy to set up shop in Europe and hunt for Nigerian born individuals to roll red carpets when we have millions of untapped talents back home.

Sir, when you admit that we are lazy and cowardly when we go abroad to import cars, planes etc is when I'd know you are sincere.

Let me address the word 'begging' that has gained currency on this thread lately. The use of that word is a ruse to deceive those who have illusions and want to comfortably loll in it. I will burst all the illusions. I hear laughter, I hear some snigger and say we are begging and they mock the country. Ohhh my God. So you guys are just waking up to the fact that we are a 'beggarly' nation? We beg for cars, for planes, we beg for quality medical treatment, we beg for arms, we beg whenever we want to carry out major construction works. There you have it guys. Your thin pride is hurt by what you consider as Pinnick 'begging', was your pride hurt when Jonathan who was in kilter when America refused him arms? was your pride hurt at Buhari who spent three months abroad for medical treatment as well every other person that has sought for medical treatment abroad(Dame Jonathan, Stella Obasanjo)?. Is your pride hurt when you communicate in English?

But I don't see my country as one that begs. No. I see a country in need. A broken country. Joebie has tried to make us see that this is what we are as a people but No! Like spoilt children we don't want to see ourselves. If we want to talk about home grown solutions to our problems, let's talk about it but let none say we begged unless such a person is ready to factor in the other thousand and one ways in which we beg in our national life. I have never blamed Pinnick since this Tammy saga and I never will. He recognised a need and tried to get solutions for it. He failed. We move on.

It will do you some good to write this length you just wrote and dedicate it to those raining abuses on Tammy. All I have tried to do is show that we need to be better at making approaches if we must learn anything from this saga. I'm not pressing on the need for NFF to refute what Tammy said. if we must go on throwing stones on Tammy, then the NFF should not be spared as regards knowing what really happened. if only we can really come together and talk about workable ways we can get the government into doing the right things, that time spent will be well worth it. I only try to argue here to appeal to our consciousness that we need to be focusing our energies on the real problems. Else, I won't waste my time on here. Nigerians we go it wrong with our priorities.

They re talking and I am talking. we both have our rights. I stand for what is right and I will always defend people who are abused irrationally.
Even if Tammy were poor and everyone was against him, I will stand for him. That's my person. These people you are defending, are you also their defense mantra? abi you join them?

Humility017:

good you're now his defense mantra...
please let those who wanna talk...talk their talk....
you're not Tammy...let the lad or his handlers make case for him.

Humility017:

bro...I don't have anythin against those insulting him....
if you do...you can as well take them to court..
I just can't understand...If you've become tammy's advocate...
please let everyone be....in as much I wont insult him or anyone...
It's not Tammy. That's where you get it wrong. It's you, it's everyone else. We need charity to live together. If you do not want it, good for you. I want it and huge doses of it. So that's my advocacy and I needn't go to court for that.

When they criticize Iheanacho or anyone else you call them haters. When- on the back of the insults on a human being - we say no, this ought not to be, you - as usual - come to say we are defenders, we are advocates.
