Obiano Declares November 17 As Public Holiday by ogologoamu: 4:33pm On Nov 08, 2017 |
The Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano, has declared November 17, 2017, as a work-free day to enable civil servants in the state to relocate to their electoral wards to be able to participate in the governorship polls on the 18th. The governor announced this when he addressed civil servants during the 2017 African Public Service Day at Jerome Udoji Secretariat, Awka, and also used the occasion to solicit for support for the election. The governor also announced the payment of their leave allowance on the 15th of November, as well clear matters concerning the contributory pension whereby he dismisses the insinuation that his administration has mandated all workers under the state to enroll and contribute their pension adding that his government has set up a committee to examine the programme and advice government on what to do. He, however, appealed to them to make sure they not only cast their votes but also to protect their votes as his victory will determine the sustenance of the incentives they are enjoying as Anambra workers. http://www.wetinhappen.com.ng/obiano-declares-november-17-as-public-holiday/

tit: Are u from anambra? wat is ur own there? There is no doubt that Willie Obiano has given a good account of the three years he has spent so far developing Anambra. Although many people quickly refer to infrastructural accomplishments as bridges and roads which Willie Obiano did so much within these three years despite the nationwide recession. I am more thrilled by his exploits in agriculture and using it to create gainful employment for youths who would otherwise have gone into crime. Rice, Sorghum are now grains produced in Anambra. Same effort has continued in poultry, fish farming, and other aspects of animal protein production for affordable food prices. I also don't want to mention his laudable achievements in primary, secondary and tertiary education including infrastructural development of the state university and the setting up of a second state university "Nwafor Orizu University of Education, Nsugbe" (NOUEN). His exploits in health sector with the upgrade of Ontsha General hospital into a State Specialist hospital, Full accreditation of the state university teaching hospital and building of 30 general hospitals in smaller towns in the state to improve healthcare and disease control in the state. Little wonder that inspite of Lassa Fever, Cerebral Meningitis, Cholera, diarrhea, among other communicable diseases that broke out in many states of Nigeria, Anambra was able to remain disease free and contained the few cases that happened in the state. Read more at: https://www.vanguardngr.com/2014/05/obiano-directs-immediate-overhaul-30-general-hospitals/ Those APC goons campaigning against no elections in Anambra through cleverly manipulating some IPOB members to stop elections have never said Obiano has failed. Instead, they say they are discouraging people to come out to vote. Their simple strategy being to use their own imported thugs from APC states to rig the Anambra polls. Let me state that Willie Obiano is not an average Nigeria politician. Before Peter Obi and Willie Obiano, Anambra recorded last in ALL development indices and was a den of criminals. Today, you cannot mention anything positive from economic growth to education to positive health outcomes without Anambra being in among the first 10 states! It is an impressive achievement!! So STOP peddling falsehoods that nothing has changed in Anambra for decades. We all know it is a big lie. Part of the problem with Nigerians is refusing to participate and expecting things to magically change. I wonder how you can win a tournament match such as FIFA World cup if you simply decided not to play a match outside of FIFA rules and regulations. Now apply the above analogy to boycotting an election where the rule does not say a Governorship election should in anyway affect how Nigeria is run. The law clearly allows the appointment of sole administrators to run states where an election is not possible. Perhaps Nnamdi Kanu is insensitive to this issue because he isn't from Anambra, but people from there who had seen schools closed for one due to non-payment of salaries and complete collapse of every infrastructure in the state will never wish to return to such nightmarish situation. Especially if their sacrifice will be meaningless in bringing any sort of change nationally unless it is perfomed simultaneously in 12 states and in a Presidential election. Now to the plot by APC to somehow engineer a poor voters turnout so that people they hired from other states can vote and rig their former university cult leader into the Governor. We already know that only APGA selects the best candidates to rule any part of Igboland. The other parties for some strange reasons select the worst criminals and anti-social elements from Igboland to foist on Igbos as their leaders. The so called IPOB plan to boycott gubernatorial Anambra elections was an unfortunate misunderstanding of what the constitution says. So it was ill thought out and flawed from the start. You have got to do things within what is possible within the law. There is NO WHERE in Nigerian constitution where it said if you failed to vote in a gubernatorial election, it would amount to any sort of constitutional issue for the country. Nigeria's 1999 constitution did say that to become a PRESIDENT of Nigeria, you MUST have 25% of the votes in 24 STATES. This clause means that if you can prevent elections from holding in 12 or 13 states, you will create a constitutional problem that will make it impossible for anyone to be declared PRESIDENT based on the constitutional provision. To achieve No election in 12 states out of 17 states in southern Nigeria will require concerted collaboration between Afenifere, Ohaneze and other socio-political groups. Anambra ALONE cannot cause such national effect even in a Presidential election talkmore the misguided campaign to boycott a gubernatorial election. 3 Likes |
