Okay I appreciate the honesty. If all you said is true, tomorrow IF the boy decides to play for us, let's accept him with that same love.

My honest prayer is that we won't need him In the future.

You know why??

That would mean Iheanacho failed, so with Paul, Osimhen, Dessers, Onyekuru, Kayode and the others.

Captain John Obi Mikel Shows Class In First Training Session With Super Eagles

The captain of the senior national team of Nigeria John Obi Mikel showed his class in his first training session with the Super Eagles ahead of their game against Algeria.
Nigeria will take on Algeria in a dead rubber World Cup 2018 Qualifiers tie, and Mikel who will most likely start as captain on Friday started his build up with the team this evening.
As exclusively reported by Owngoalnigeria.com, the captain arrived the camp of the team this morning after their morning session, and only had his first training in their second session of the day.
He was very lively, fit and commanding in the middle when the players engaged themselves in a practice game which brought the session to an end.
His range of passes and ball holding abilities left his markers chasing shadows, and from all indications he looks likely to pair Wilfred Ndidi and Ogehenekaro Etebo in the midfield against Algeria on Friday.

How feasible are these solution of yours? From what I've read so far, you're proffering a scatter gun approach not a well structured plan.

How do you identify a really good player? Is it when such an individual is playing in his father's garage? You can only identify a good player if he's playing organised football!

What is organised football? Organised football is a league structured football.

Now, the exceptional players have already started playing for their adopted countries before they sign their first professional contracts.

I ask, do you want the Nff go hunting in London high schools to scout for Nigerians who have soccer potentials? This is the only way you can beat their adopted countries from getting them first.

This is not a solution. I haven't heard about any country in the world whose standard practice is to scout for players with this begging approach. Are we that desperate? Are these guys worth all the headache? How many championships have they won for their adopted countries?

Scouting for talents abroad is not the solution to the problem of Nigerian football. Brazil have the highest number of players playing for other countries, yet they still manage to be a force in football and always make the world cup finals.

For every Diego Costa or Thiago Motta they have tens of worthy replacements. This is the position I would like Nigeria to attain, not going cap in hands to beg small boys to come play for us.

Sir, God bless you sir.. You just spoke my mind... Should we neglect ours and started running after those that will reject us in future.?.. We all know that youthful games cant be used to predict the national team games... Alot will fall by the way side...

We have make it without any Anglo players... With what Tammy said about his switch it will make it harder for any foreign player to get invite especially innit boys...

NFF won't say a word I bet you. You will rather see their actions... Even if Tammy want to do Zaha for England he should not be saying all that.. He like making jest of us...

He just block other players chances... Time will tell how NFF will react to all this brouhaha.

So I was watching pinnick's interview on HIP TV this evening and here's what he said about Tammy.

- He was a player I wanted. England never needed him, at least not now. They lost Iwobi and that really hurt them. So immediately they heard about our interest, they had to call him up to avoid what happened with Iwobi.

- His club coach is English, his national team coach also English and the FA are friends with all of them.

- He's made his choice, all we can do as Nigerians is wish him the best and hope he doesn't turn out like Nedum Onuoha.

He also had this to say about friendlies.

He said, people had preferred for us to play a weaker opposition instead of Argentina, but he was against that because he was interested in knowing our weaknesses earlier so we can use the 6 months we have in trying to correct them, and also to identify our strongest points.

By march/june we should prepare to play against European teams and there are also talks in place with FA Presidents of Japan and Korea for friendlies too.

Algeria Coach Madjer Blast – Nigerian Team Is Full Of Bench Warmers Bar Arsenal Iwobi

Newly appointed coach of Algeria national team Rabah Madjer has hit out at the Nigerian team who his team will be facing on Friday in a dead rubber World Cup 2018 Qualifiers tie.
Speaking to the press in Algeria, Madjer who was not in charge of the team when they suffered a 3-1 loss to Nigeria in the reverse tie played in Uyo said the Nigerian team has many players who don’t get to play for their European clubs..
” I have studied the Nigerian team, apart from Iwobi, every other player is mostly a substitute for their team in Europe , but that doesn’t mean they will not be at the level to face us”, Madjer said.
” The game against Nigeria is not a friendly match for me, to me it’s the first game of the qualifiers for the 2018 African Cup of Nations in Cameroon”.

Dutch-Nigerian Ebuehi, Etebo, Ogu Among Top Performers In Super Eagles Training

ADO Den Haag Dutch-Nigerian defender Tyronne Ebuehi has been very impressive in training for the Super Eagles ahead of their Friday game against Algeria.
Ebuehi is yet to make his competitive debut for Nigeria since agreeing to pursue a career with Nigeria at international level ahead of the Netherlands,
It is looking very likely that the 20 year old will finally get his chance against Algeria on Friday as his all round performance has caught the eyes, particularly his pace and ability to whip in crosses.
Hapoel Be’er Sheva central midfielder John Ogu has also been very impressive in training especially during yesterday’s session with his abilities in aerial duels the catch of his performance.
The injury to Mikel Agu has opened up a window for him to play his first competitive game under Rohr, who has also hinted that he will give players who have been a part of the team during qualifiers the chance to play against Algeria

CD Feirense midfielder Ogehenekaro Etebo is another player who is fighting to regain his starting spot in the team after failing to impress in the 0-2 loss to South Africa in the AFCON 2019 Qualifiers.
Since that game he has not been used by Rohr in any competitive game, but his strong showing in training will no doubt make the coach consider him among the six changes he said he will likely make to his starting line up on Friday.

So Tammy decided to hunt with the Lions instead of Soaring with the Eagles and we here taking it personal

Come on, he made a professional decision, one he thinks would be best for his career.

I've always said that, we should permit them to go with options that's best for them.

In 2013 John Fashanu brought a team of U18 players from Nigeria. Who were called the Nigeria all stars seemingly selected from a national competition from across Nigeria. At least that's how it was marketed here. I don't if anybody knows about this.

They were set up to play Manchester United and City thier U18 teams. There was great anticipation.

As a warm up game two private football academies based in the NW England were merged to play against the highly esteemed Nigeria all stars.

There were a lot of club scouts including the head of recruitment at Fulham who were in the EPL at the time.

They played the game expecting to be beaten but would try to keep the scoreline respectable. In the end they beat the Nigeria all stars 8-1. Only one player was selected to go on trial at Fulham. He was a English born Nigerian striker.

There is no EPL academy in the UK that doesn't have Nigerian origin players. When you go to the London city Region that number becomes double % figures.

Do you really think there are not quite a few other Tega's in the system. There are but our NFF esteemed scouting crew do not want to work and do thier job properly. Waiting for the English FA to identify players for Nigeria. Then we try to reap where we did not sow.

Dele Alli and Seyi Ojo were in lowly MK dons but propelled with rapid speed to the EPL.

Where was the esteemed faceless unquestionable scouting crew.

How much better for Nigeria and to the shame of the English FA as well as giving them a bloody nose. By picking and selecting a players before them.

All this talk if Tega played for Nigeria he would be given far more opportunity and longevity is assumption.

How much Fair-Play, longevity, honour and respect were given to Hope Akpan, Sone Aluko, Victor Anichebe. Our history of treatment to Nigerian origin players in England is far from exemplary.

It was Berti Vogts thar gave Danny Shittu the chance to play for Nigeria not the NFF. Outside of Yobo from the millennium in my opinion the best Nigerian center back of that era.

I know nothing about the so called all star team, ambassador took to the UK. But it will be a huge mistake to gauge the level of the "all star team" by just one game.

Have you considered the small issue if acclimatisation? Those boys were first time travellers outside Nigeria, it will be too much to expect they would be at their best ahead of such an exhibition game.

If you bring those English boys down to Kano or Kaduna, do you think they will escape without conceeding double figures?

If those English lads met this same Nigerians in FIFA U17 championship, who will your money be on to win?

I drop this for my brother Goodjoe...I sure know henceforth uzoho becomes his favorite courtsey of his exploits during drills....

Eagles Training: Deportivo La Coruna Goalkeeper Uzoho Impresses In Shooting Drills

As part of our build up to the dead rubber World Cup 2018 Qualifiers tie between Nigeria and Algeria, Owngoalnigeria.com contact in Morocco witnessed the Eagles training session.
The goalkeepers of the team had a shooting session which was handled by the goalkeeper trainers Alloy Agu and Enrico Pionetti, with goalkeeper Francis Odinaka Uzoho and Ikechukwu Ezenwa taking part.
During the drills newly invited Deportivo La Coruna shot stopper Uzoho impressed with his long reach especially in diving to make saves, as his impressive height ensure he hardly misses when he dives.
Standing at an impressive height of over six feet tall, Uzoho wasn’t as assured in terms of grip like Ikechukwu Ezenwa who is the number one goalkeeper of the team.
However, Uzoho put up a good performance in training during the morning session, and he will be hoping for more of the same in the second session which will take place later this evening.

Goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi has joined up with the rest of the team, hence they will be three goalkeepers in the team for the session which will focus more on tactical issues ahead of Friday’s game.

They said, it was going to get rid of friendly games.

I don't think that idea would fly.

How many FIFA windows, do we have in a year?

How many games would be played yearly?

What about club preseason games?

You keep talking Fair play, Fair play. The fact that you're foreign born and have decided to play for us doesn't guarantee you an automatic place in the team.

Hope Akpan showed promise, but was injured and we couldn't see more of him. Other midfielders took his place and the coaches were happy with what those who replaced him had achieved.

Sone Aluko is a player I love, he's got passion, and he's the only one I'd fault the coaches for not giving him a lookin.

Anichebe injury ruined this guy's career, he had lot of promise and would have been a force to reckon with in the EPL. Remember he rejected a call up to join the 2013 AFCON winning Eagles, saying he wanted to focus on his Club Career. We went on to win the AFCON with Ideye, Uche and Eminike and didn't see the need for him no more. Iheanacho and Ighalo came along at some point.

If you want your absence to be felt, fine! Bit pray to God those lurking around the corner waiting for you to blink so they replace you aren't as good as you or even better. Who'd be clamoring for Enyeama if not for Ikeme's present condition??

Mujtahida:

Sir, when you admit that we are lazy and cowardly when we go abroad to import cars, planes etc is when I'd know you are sincere.

Let me address the word 'begging' that has gained currency on this thread lately. The use of that word is a ruse to deceive those who have illusions and want to comfortably loll in it. I will burst all the illusions. I hear laughter, I hear some snigger and say we are begging and they mock the country. Ohhh my God. So you guys are just waking up to the fact that we are a 'beggarly' nation? We beg for cars, for planes, we beg for quality medical treatment, we beg for arms, we beg whenever we want to carry out major construction works. There you have it guys. Your thin pride is hurt by what you consider as Pinnick 'begging', was your pride hurt when Jonathan who was in kilter when America refused him arms? was your pride hurt at Buhari who spent three months abroad for medical treatment as well every other person that has sought for medical treatment abroad(Dame Jonathan, Stella Obasanjo)?. Is your pride hurt when you communicate in English?

But I don't see my country as one that begs. No. I see a country in need. A broken country. Joebie has tried to make us see that this is what we are as a people but No! Like spoilt children we don't want to see ourselves. If we want to talk about home grown solutions to our problems, let's talk about it but let none say we begged unless such a person is ready to factor in the other thousand and one ways in which we beg in our national life. I have never blamed Pinnick since this Tammy saga and I never will. He recognised a need and tried to get solutions for it. He failed. We move on.

Comparing the socio-economic strength of Nigeria with football is like apples and oranges. They are not the same thing.

Science and technology is not one of our strengths as a country. It makes sense to import warships, gun boats, fighter jets and armored tanks. Although one can ask questions why some inventions made by the Biafrans during the war was not tapped into by succeeding governments (story for another day).

When it comes to football, we cannot say we lack the talents so much that we should start importing footballers just like we import warships. This is ridiculous.

Read what a foreigner said about talents in Nigeria

” I can’t seem to understand the rave behind Karamoko Dembele by the world, especially Nigerians. I have seen a lot of his type on the street in Nigeria, so kill the hype” He told Owngoalnigeria.com.

” He is good no doubt, but like I told a friend of mine, in Nigeria on the streets on bad playing pitches, not the type Dembele enjoys in Scotland, they are better players in Lagos, Abuja, Porthacourt, Warri, Kaduna, Kano etc.

” I challenge anybody who doubts me to follow me to Nigeria. Look my friend, I have spent time in the country and in Europe, so I know what am saying. They are millions of Dembele on the street in Nigeria, playing football with no boots or facility but yet doing well”.

A foreigner believes Nigeria have this many un tapped talents.
Take a moment and let that sink in.

People call systems "rolling carpet"
Do the Americans etc roll carpets for talented Nigerians to go over there and improve their skill/knowlege so they can add to that economy?
Did the Greek Basketball Association roll carpets to capture players in diaspora (referring to those Nigerian-decent basketballers in the US)?

My friend, your suggestion is not a suggestion. It is known. It seen by all. Fine, it's okay to copy and paste, but you and I know that it is a pipe dream. Everyone knows that we need a well structured league in Nigeria. But my position is having a system for players in diaspora to identify with us early does not scuttle our development plans, should we have one. Apples and Oranges. We don't even have one in the first place. Will we ever get it right here?
If we have to wait for utterances of 19 year olds to be reminded that we need to develop our own, then we are not true to ourselves. In fact, we are not serious. The consciousness to develop things in Nigeria for Nigerians should be ever-present to start with.
Are we babies. Nigeria is 57 years and we have to be reminded to develop our own thing? The 20 year old boy is just making choices and living his own life. PLEASE
You're still on this Antetokumpo case? Not even after showing you clearly that this guy started playing for Greek U19's when he was playing in the Greek 2nd division?
Do you watch Greek A2 basketball? Name one team you know in the Greek 2nd div basketball league.

It takes a lot of hard work to develop from home. The easy way out will be to ambush diaspora born who are on the verge of signing professional contracts, when we return with our tails behind like in the cases of Owomoyela, Nedum, Aogo and lately Tammy, we will be back here suggesting how to open shops to get these individuals to commit early before their adopted countries invite them.

I'm quite disappointed having this sort of conversation to be honest.

.................Iheanacho

Alternatively:

Ebuehi..Balogun..Ekong..Aina

...........Shehu
.................Ndidi

Etebo.......Mikel......Iwobi
..........Iheanacho

Let's see Shehu transfer that his high level of discipline and improved passing ability to the DM position so we can free Ndidi to roam(box to box).

Mujtahida:

Did you really just use that analogy in your first paragraph? Please go and ask Mikel, Kanu, Jay Jay who moulded them footballwise. Your analogy is imperfect. What you sent to America is not caftan. It was material you sent to America. You know how I know? Why don't you use the kaftans you have at home whenever you are going for a party? You don't because they are simply not good enough. I have no illusions. Nigeria is a country of great potential. Potential. That's what it is. In actuality, we not there yet.
This is where I'd embrace the second limb of your posts. But I will still reiterate my earlier point: What happens to your hospitals, what happens to your schools? What happens to your roads? Do your Engineers build your bridges or make your cars? Football is not the ultimate. We must aim to develop every part of our society.
Mikel, Kanu and Okocha went through the paces here.
If they were some shiit footballers with nothing to offer, no European club will touch them with a 40ft pole to start with.
