My starting line up against Algeria:

Ebuehi..Balogun..Ekong..Aina

.............Ndidi
...................Etebo

Musa..........Mikel...........Iwobi
.................Iheanacho

Alternatively:

Ebuehi..Balogun..Ekong..Aina

...........Shehu
.................Ndidi

Etebo.......Mikel......Iwobi
..........Iheanacho

I think Mikel should sit this one out...
I really wanna see Iwobi being tested in the AMF role...It could be the ultimate solution!

But if Mikel starts, let him he subbed for Onyekuru while Iwobi drops to AMF...

Mikel will need to start.

We are likely to present a young frontline, the way we presented it against SA. And so we need a leader (Mikel) in their midst. Those young players still need an experienced back to ride on. Onyekuru may be introduced later in the game depending on how it is progressing. Onyekuru may come in for Mikel so Onyekuru goes to the wings while Iwobi plays behind the CF.

So I was watching pinnick's interview on HIP TV this evening and here's what he said about Tammy.

- He was a player I wanted. England never needed him, at least not now. They lost Iwobi and that really hurt them. So immediately they heard about our interest, they had to call him up to avoid what happened with Iwobi.

- His club coach is English, his national team coach also English and the FA are friends with all of them.

- He's made his choice, all we can do as Nigerians is wish him the best and hope he doesn't turn out like Nedum Onuoha.

He also had this to say about friendlies.

He said, people had preferred for us to play a weaker opposition instead of Argentina, but he was against that because he was interested in knowing our weaknesses earlier so we can use the 6 months we have in trying to correct them, and also to identify our strongest points.

By march/june we should prepare to play against European teams and there are also talks in place with FA Presidents of Japan and Korea for friendlies too.

I really find it hard to believe Amaju would say that in the public arena as part of his explanations of the Tega Abrahams debacle.

Iwobi was never in the running to go anywhere with England, that's simply not true. Iwobi was already in the SE before he had played one game for the Arsenal first team.

It's a fiasco and damning endictment of the incompetence of the highly esteemed but faceless scouting crew of the NFF. If they had done thier homework they should have been able to project and assess that Tega will blow. Quite obviously they didn't.
As a result a call up that should have been made last season is being made now.

Just like Onomah who I rate highly as midfielder in multiple roles, his end product delivery is outstanding very disciplined and a true team player. Very skillfull but doesn't get carried away playing to the gallery.

I expect to see him in the EPL if not for Tottenham another Top team. That could come around as early as January. We should be engaging him now not waiting for him to blow.

And all this talk about begging is nonsensical in the extreme. Players don't come to you, the NFF goes to them. Our engagement strategy is essentially a joke that's at the core of the matter.

There are potentials everywhere. Where there is no system, you go to the streets to find them. You can keep promoting backwardness if you want. Potential is only a thing -- innate, Just as resources is only a thing -- found underneath. But what do you do from there? Keep these talents in the Nigerian system and you will see what will become of these potentials.
You can't separate socio-economic strength as you call it from football. You doubt me? Look at the forerunners in sports for that matter. Compare it to their economies, you will see a correlation. For one thing I know that some people will travel but they will still not learn much. I have seen that type.

Modified
Football is our number one sport. And if we still can't get it right in football, that tells you something about our socio-economic strength.

goldfish80:

Comparing the socio-economic strength of Nigeria with football is like apples and oranges. They are not the same thing.

Science and technology is not one of our strengths as a country. It makes sense to import warships, gun boats, fighter jets and armored tanks. One can ask questions why some inventions made by the Biafrans during the war was not tapped into by succeeding governments (story for another day).

When it comes to football, we cannot say we lack the talents so much that we should start importing footballers just like we import warships. This is ridiculous.

Read what a foreigner said about talents in Nigeria

” I can’t seem to understand the rave behind Karamoko Dembele by the world, especially Nigerians. I have seen a lot of his type on the street in Nigeria, so kill the hype” He told Owngoalnigeria.com.

” He is good no doubt, but like I told a friend of mine, in Nigeria on the streets on bad playing pitches, not the type Dembele enjoys in Scotland, they are better players in Lagos, Abuja, Porthacourt, Warri, Kaduna, Kano etc.

” I challenge anybody who doubts me to follow me to Nigeria. Look my friend, I have spent time in the country and in Europe, so I know what am saying. They are millions of Dembele on the street in Nigeria, playing football with no boots or facility but yet doing well”.

A foreigner believes Nigeria have this many un tapped talents.
Take a moment and let that sink in.

My friend they have a system at home. And they also have a system of keeping these players on their radar. I'm not even a basketball fan. And just because the Greek basketball league is not as popular as the NBA don't mean they don't have a structured league.

goldfish80:

You're still on this Antetokumpo case? Not even after showing you clearly that this guy started playing for Greek U19's when he was playing in the Greek 2nd division?
Do you watch Greek A2 basketball? Name one team you know in the Greek 2nd div basketball league.

It takes a lot of hard work to develop from home. The easy way out will be to ambush diaspora born who are on the verge of signing professional contracts, when we return with our tails behind like in the cases of Owomoyela, Nedum, Aogo and lately Tammy, we will be back here suggesting how to open shops to get these individuals to commit early before their adopted countries invite them.

I'm quite disappointed having this sort of conversation to be honest.

In fact from this very moment I will stop indulging in needless arguments. If the discussion is not about how we, collectively, can be involved in something progressive for the betterment of Nigerian football or the Nigerian society at large, it's just noisemaking, hoping that someone "important" will stumble on this thread and act is a pipe dream.
You know what? As regards my new stance, that's what I call TRUE patriotism.

Modified
Just arguing in favor of your country does no mean you are patriotic. Love for country is action. What can we do? Then I will start discussing.
In fact i'm calling on all those who are ready to talk solutions here, let's meet on whatsapp or something. We can use our time more wisely.

Italy at a point wanted to cap him. He migrated to Italy with his parents to Italy I guess.

His family background is kinda mixed up though.

Obi Mikel Finally Opens Up On Transfer War Between Chelsea, Man Utd For His Services

Nigeria captain John Obi Mikel has finally lifted the lid on the transfer war between Chelsea and Manchester United for his services more than a decade ago.
Mikel initially signed for the Red Devils on April 29, 2005, but the midfielder eventually joined Chelsea a year later after they paid £16 million to the Old Trafford outfit and Lyn Olso.
The other actors involved in the case were Lyn director Morgan Andersen, agents Rune Hauge, John Shittu, Daniel Fletcher and Jerome Anderson, managers Alex Ferguson and Jose Mourinho and Mikel's father, who wanted his son to join United ahead of Chelsea until he was approached by Shittu.
Mikel told The Sun : ''It was surreal, I was at school, but had Chelsea and Manchester United — two of the world’s biggest clubs — trying to sign me. I’ll never forget that second meeting with Sir Alex. I’d signed a deal at United but had to tell him: ‘Sorry, I want to play for Chelsea’.
''He really liked me but I could see how angry and disappointed he was.
''Some things he told me made me think about changing my mind but I was thinking about Jose, too.
''I had these two great managers wanting me and I did not know what to do.
''Fergie told me: ‘Why would you turn down United? It’s the biggest club in the world. You cannot do that. You have to say Yes’.
''As a footballer, you have to make decisions that you live with for the rest of your life.''
Mikel was successful at Chelsea, winning the Champions League and Europa League, two Premier League titles, four FA Cups and two League Cups in his 11 years there.

even you...you started rate Tammy highly after his exploits in the epl this season...
I remember often a time I ask and talked to you about him here...you always express your reservations probably because you wanna promote your player....Fred onyedimma at millwals....

let me blow your mind a little....do you know that pinnick have been on Tammy Abraham case right from when he was in Chelsea under 19....
from wat I know...he was ready to throw him into the ring just like the case of iwobi....but...his dad and the lad kept sayinh his focus for now....is to keep up wit his development and progress rheough the English yoith systems......

so I wont blame pinnick in this case...mind you iwobi games for the super eagles prior becominh a full fledge member for arsenal first team...were only friendlies I think against Congo or so in Brussels...

while on his arrival prior the Egyptian game in kaduna...Roy hodgson was still trying to stop him and get him into the under 21 set up by sending mails...but right there at the airport his mind was made up...
I bet you someone like Tammy would have a rethink....

but to him....his mind was made up....against Egypt that was his competitive match....
so before then he was already playing first team football for arsenal...

so cut pinnick some slack in a bid to defend some of your English overhyped average players.....

Rohr Drops Big Hint Aina & Iwobi Will Start Vs Algeria: How Team A & B Lined Up

Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr has dropped a big hint about the eleven players that will start in the national team's final 2018 World Cup qualifier against Algeria on Friday, November 10.
Based on the team's workout on Wednesday evening, the only thing that didn't add up was his decision to include Tianjin Teda midfielder John Obi Mikel in the Team B, otherwise he gave a clue as to his probable first-choice to start against the Desert Foxes.
After an initial physical session of stretching and running, Rohr organized a mini-game between Team A and Team B.
By all indications, Chelsea defender Ola Aina is poised to make his full debut for the Super Eagles as he was in Team A, along with Arsenal winger Alex Iwobi.
Young Deportivo La Coruna goalkeeper Francis Uzoho is expected to be named on the substitutes bench against the Desert Foxes, having featured for the Team B.
The formation used in training today is not cast in stone, everything will become clearer when the team have their final workout on Thursday, November 9.
Team A : Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Ola Aina, Abdullahi Shehu, Leon Balogun, Troost-Ekong, John Ogu, Wilfred Ndidi, Oghenekaro Etebo, Kelechi Iheanacho, Tony Nwakaeme, Alex Iwobi
Team B : Team B: Francis Uzoho (Daniel Akpeyi), Uche Agbo, Tyronne Ebuehi, Chidozie Awaziem, Kenneth Omeruo, Obi Mikel, Chidiebere Nwakali, Ahmed Musa, Henry Onyekuru, Olarenwaju Kayode
