The budget was recently decreased during GEJ's time. That's something that would never be done as long as APC is in government. Look how the budget was increased by a woooing 1trn when bubu came in and theybsay change! Judgment on them all! |

The problem with the government is the valuation of naira, and not budget. During Jona's time, budget was around 4.8 trillion when naira was around 190 to a dollar. Now that the exchange has doubled, it is logical that the budget also double in value. The comparative value of the current budget with respect to 2014 budget should be around 4.5trillion, which is ok |

the budget was between 4.4 & 4.99tn within 2010 - 2015; and we all know how the Nigerian economy was in those years. In 2016, we had an increment of about 2tn from that of 2015; yet it was the year Nigeria suffered recession, accompanied with high cost of living, low income earning, non-payment of workers salaries, etc. In 2017, we had yet about 1.3tn increment from that of 2016; same scenario continued. Nothing to show for it. We keep blaming the past governments. Now they have proposed about 1.2tn increment on the 2017 budget for 2018. That is, in 3 years, the budget has increased from 4.4tn in 2015 to 8.6tn in 2018 (proposed). Giving over double what was used in the same country in 2015 and we had the best economy in Africa then. Sometimes I'm left to wonder what change we really got: positive or negative? God help us! I think the economist should analyse this and tell us what hope lies for Nigeria. How can we keep coming up with figures like these and there are really nothing to show for it year in, year out. 3 Likes |

thesolutions:Nigerians are not getting it and it sad don't be deceived , the major problem is not the party but the man/woman in that public office. can u compare the accomplishments of ya'adua to Jonathan? ..the difference is clear .. in ya'adua's short live in office he was able to achieve a definite and visible focus, the amnesty to ND millitants, 7 points agenda (some thing Jonathan swept under carpet of incompetence).. we saw peace and progress we. we saw leadership defined, we saw federal character under the ya'adua's administration now can u say same for Jonathan( be honest with ur self)? mind you there was opposition ACN and even CPC yet this man never castigated anybody he face his duties squarely.. the problem is not party or maybe Minor party influence but major problem lies on the shoulder of the man in the political office not ApC or PDP .. |

greencard:I know about Yaradua and the many strikes we went through during his time. He was very slow in taking some decisions. If you believe Yar'adua achieved anything, you should also appreciate Jonathan his vice for being in the team. You talked about Amnesty. Who conceived the idea if not Jonathan. He is from the zone and knew what solution to provide. He did and it worked and his boss took all the credit. For the case of Bokoharam, what solution did the Northern Elite provide for it to be curtailed if not escalating it. Jonathan Never castigated any opposition party. He was even proud of Lagos led by AC and wished to draft the then Governor of the state in his cabinet should he return. He cared about result and was willing to risk a lot to get it. Jonathan's Achievements are not hidden. They are there for you to see. You hate Jonathan so much that you forgot I was talking about Jonathan's Budget of 4 years, PDPs budget of 16 years and Buhari/APCs Budget of 3 years. It's your problem though. 1 Like |
