they were missing 3 defenders plus Benteleb, that is 4 players missing so yes they were weakened very well.

What about us, were we strengthened?

Habaaa you first said we won't win. Later on you said we would lose. Habaaa be honest na

i did not deny that at all. When I saw the list of invited players we had Ighalo and Moses who would have definetly started plus Onazi so I changed from not winning to losing, it wasn't a prediction at all, just analysis based on the players present, the players were changed so the analysis disappeared

PDPGuy:
In 8 WCQ matches, the Super Eagles have only conceded 3 goals, 2 from open play.

This is probably the best defensive display by a SE team in a World Cup qualifying series.

All the "analyst" on this thread won't see this, it's to name all their players to play in a match as if more than 11 players can be on the pitch at the same time.

Very ignorant, ungrateful & negative lots! angry

It seems the coach doesn't know the best roles for his players and very conservative.

I wonder what he does at training and yet he can't indentify poor player.
Lol...rohr need go for refresher course...
that nacho play from the flanks was a serious waste..
kayode would have been deployed there and nacho play the CF and iwobi the AM role....

etebo can then play the wings too...or probably Henry.

I never expected this formation from rohr

I won't give excuse for the coach but i guess your player, Nwakaeme was deployed in the right position. Don't say the team didn't get the ball to him. The guy is not SE material.

Yup. I was definitely looking forward to see him play because based on how some folks talk about him here. And now, I can understand why Mikel Agu is above him in the pecking order.

Onyekuru was quite good. I was surprised that Rohr didn't introduce him at the beginning of the second half. Nwakaeme was piss poor all game.

Algeria's first team needed a useless penalty to draw a bunch of fringe players, some of whom were untested totally and you are crying as if we lost to Algeria after playing all of our main guys.

You people will never be satisfied. God forbid!

They sha kept our unbeaten record despite the wuru-wuru officiating. I'm good with that

I so much love your inputs Tbaba and I have come to respect you on this forum. On this game, let's put not the excuse on dead rubber game, the truth is you can't give what you don't have, maybe because some players might not have deployed in their best positions, it was a poor performance period.

Argentina game is also a dead rubber game, it's just a friendly, are we going to play poorly like that?

Truth is the team has come to rely too much on the ability of a few players who carry the team each time they play, Mikel, Victor Mosis and the unappreciated Onazi. If Mikel get's injured in the world cup, we might be in trouble.

Sometimes, it is difficult for the team to lift itself for games like this. Playing against a big side like Argentina is a different prospect.

I agree we are very dependent on Mikel in particular. Limited creativity in the middle without him.

the Nwakali I know would have offered more than Ndidi and Ogu combined. I love Ndidi but this wasn't his best match. This was a dead rubber match anyways, let's not judge Rohr yet

Abeg the boys tried, the last time they played without Mikel and Victor Moses we lost to a lesser team, South Africa(Even Onazi played in that game). They needed this game to blend and gain confidence and experience without the matured players, we can see that they did not have direct leader, nobody was in charge until Ahmed Musa came in they still kept it together. We have to remember that. Iheanacho was quiet in the game but he was a work horse Victor Moses playing all our set pieces whenever he plays has shaken Iheanacho's confidence(Now I consider his injury a blessing disguise) Henry Onyekuru coming into the game, he played only 25 minutes or so, but I am sold on that guy. He needs to start for our next game against Argentina, Mikel will replace Etebo in that game so we will be a stronger side. The problem was the lack of complete passes tonight and that happened because majority of the players are playing together for the first time. The defense was solid. At least now we can watch Super Eagles matches without the usual high soaked tension anytime the opposing team is advancing. With Mikel back in the Next game, things will be more creative in the front half.

Some one said Ogu was bad today, humility or what, guess he was doing more of typing than watching, Ogu was the best player apart from d goal he scored, the worst been his fellow team mate nwakaeme.

Ogu almost eliminated the loopholes of mikel, the commentator even confirmed it that we had better possesion of the ball prior to the goal.

I think Nwakaeme last game was today.

Henry Onyekuru needs to be given more time nxt match we saw a glimpse of him and his tracking back.

Ola did well but lacked good communication with keeper and balogun.

nice game.

What I noticed from d match

D pitch was bad...1

Ola aina impressed me most out of d new players.tested by rohr WC has dampen d chances of ebuehi making it to d world cup,cos abdullah shehu has cemented the no2 position

Nwakaeme is not DT bad as we all re painting here, bin his 1st competitive game,d pressure coupled with d bad pitch, affected his game

Dis is d best performance so far from Ndidi

Ezenwa is not a world cup material yet, enyeama shld come back

I would b mute abt iwobi's performance,he hardly performs well against african team and terrain,I would judge him after d argies game, but den credit must b given to moses simon,I appt his impact in our previous games

Its not a must we stick to oyinbo wall, gernot rohr shld look for a good 6.thank u cheesy

Meanwhile I said WE WOULD NOT WIN, I added that we would lose after we saw the list of invitees but due to injuries the team was almost completely changed

We ended up conceding only 2 goals from open play in 8 WCQ matches.
I also learned that Nigeria's 36-game WCQ unbeaten run is only second, worldwide, to Spain's run. shocked

don't mind him, but I guess we were not weakened abi. I find it amusing when peeps will come here to say sia1 is a better coach. twice he had the chance to qualify us for the nations cup in both instance all we had to do was defend for less than ten minutes and we'll be there, but somehow we bugled the opportunity cos the coach wasn't intelligent enough

Nigeria is in a goal keeping crisis thank God the defense covered well. African refs are embarrassing, Sheu abd is an example for komenk it's not until you are in championship or in any top league before you can be classified quality, that nigga is good enough to start for an epl top ten side. As good as Ola is he can't take his spot right now.
Onuachu would have done a better job than nwakeme. Onyekuru had the same amount of shot on target with this Israeli guy, what's the use of strength and hold up play when you cannot connect with your team mates, SE can do better, dessers or kayode in that match would have made sense, sometimes I don't get this roah!! Congrats SE
Ekong has improved tremendously from the olympics, kept slimani in his pocket and showed he can run the show when his partner has a quite game.

Very frustrating. I am suspecting he doesn't know some players position and strength.

I expected Iwobi in the Am and Iheanacho in the CF but the dude played them wrongly.

Etobor is not a CM or AM. Na by force? The LW is his best position. Make WC reach.

Dear
I wasn't too impressed....considering the way super eagles have been playing lately...this match fall below standard...chances created today were not up to 3....
the super eagles I know create more chances than that...this Algeria team was very weak......

I expect us to have played better....I understand that penalty was a fluke...but we should always expect things of this kind in away matches....

#well I am satisfied now....

I hope you guys remember I said about Ogu and his abilities. He still displayed them today and even scored a goal with one of his abilities which is being a threat to opposition goalkeepers with long range shots.

Isnt he far better than Agu?

Ezenwa has no business being our second choice goalkeeper not to talk of first choice.
Seems Nwakaeme isn'tbso good as a point man but a winger. Though the Argentina game is another test.
