Results are most times misleading.
A better team would have punished us badly.

How do you allow a team below average like Algeria create so many clear cut scoring opportunities?

We are still not ready for the world cup..Honestly if team like Algeria are holding us down i.e we can not beat them easily, we should forget about making impact in Russia.

So many things to learn from this game.
1. Algeria created more chances and could have won. A better team could have punished us. We can only take solace in the fact that this is not the first team.
2.We don't have a good goalkeeper yet. Ezenwa is of average quality. The Likes of Messi, Aguero, Neymar et all will have a field day with Ezenwa.
3. Onyekuru is good or even better than Ihenacho. He should be given more playing time.
4. African refs still have a long way to go. The headbutt from Yacine Brahimi to Abdullahi Shehu should have attracted a red card but he merely gave him a yellow card. The penalty was scandalous and uncalled for. Even Brahimi was dumbfounded at the penalty call. Performances of African refs causes them to be overlooked at world stage.
thank you.

Help me ask him o. If you're not ready for an exam, you'll fail woefully. Ezenwa is not world cup material. He's going to be our greatest undoing at the world cup.

But when did Kelechi Iheanacho become a left footer. Instead of perfecting his finishing and crossings, he's busy practicing left foot in a match.

Ezenwa has the potentials no doubt but he is not a serious goalkeeper. The same problem with most of them that Rohr paraded.
Iheanacho should ask himself if he wants to GI the way of Chrisantus Macaulay! Gabriel Jesu should be a good challenge abi na motivator.
For the first time those two half caste defenders impressed me. Who be that left full back biko nu? He has zero confidence!
I am happy The Messi led Argentina is next......these guys should prove me wrong, Nigeria is still a billion miles away from being ready for the main show!

we don't need him to have fight, we need him to score and he does that well enough

And I don't know why you keep mentioning Nwakaeme because last I checked, he is not among the two sure bets for the World Cup. Only Kelechi and Ighalo are, Nwakaeme is just like Onuachu and everyone else fighting for one spot.

And which one is that he is using football age? The guy does not look older than his stated age and except you know something we don't, I suggest you throw away such flimsy argument, even if he's Defoe's age mate, as long as he knows where the net is, he should be in contention for that sole spot

You could make a whole lot of money from being a sports analyst or presenter. Your confidence in words say a lot about how much you know about soccer. I however hope this can be replicated in person.

hahaha! What happened to "advantage play" Even if it was indeed a penalty? The referee just wanted to make sure by awarding a penalty. Even the Brahimi guy shock.
Re: Algeria Vs Nigeria: FIFA 2018 World Cup Qualifiers 1 - 1 (Full Time) by adegeye38(m): 7:57am On Nov 11, 2017
I still think the ball was a penalty and the refree made a right call.

lets look at it from an unbiased perspective

the Nigerian defender held brahimi, outside the box, and prevented him from the ball, he continued to obstruct him as they entered the box, the nigerian defender then intentionally dived to deceive d ref and diverted his attention from his apparent foul.

But the ref was close and saw everything and he was not decieved and gave the penalty

Other ref who did not have a clear view would have been decieved and would have called a goal kick as the Nigerian defender dived, but it would have been a wrong call

and some ref might have waved play on, but it would have been wrong because there was a foul

the Nigerian defender should have known better, if you want to foul someone like that makesure, you have brought him down outside the box, dont let the foul spill to the box 18

all in all, The ball was a penalty

Argentina barely made it to the world cup. Same with Portugal. They both had to win their last group games to avoid playoffs. Italy is not sure yet. Neither is Australia. Holland missed out totally. So did the USA. Yet teams like Iceland, Panama, Iran, Saudi Arabia qualified from their regions.

The dynamics of qualifiers where you have roughly 5 days to prepare for each game are different from a tournament you have at least 3 weeks of camping to prepare for.

That said, no matter how well prepared we are for the World Cup it would take a lot for us to get to the last 8 or beyond. The type of teams we get in our group could mean a first round exit. Nigeria is not exactly a powerhouse in world football no matter how patriotic we want to be. We have the potential to be, but that is only if we get our football development right at youth level.

Let's not get our hopes up too high. Just cheer the team on for as long as they are in the tournament. Miracles do happen.

The left full back is Ola Aina, a Chelsea product; a boy making his full debut after switching allegiance from England to Nigeria. Of course he is bound to be nervous as he seeks to impress. Even Leon Balogun and Ekong, the two half castes had not too memorable debuts. Now they are more confident after several games.

We are talking about reaching the last four or last eight at least. You don't have to be a superpower for that, just get a lighter group. The ranking already shows we are no powerhouse but games like these should be won to improve our ranking so as to steal a more favourable group. The game against Argentina is also one to at least avoid defeat
