realpoacher: The pitch hindered us from seeing how good the set-up could play. I was happy in the early minutes of the game, seeing the players of Nigeria press the Algerians in a zone when we did not have the ball. I also liked the compact set-up when we wanted to build-up plays but the pitch took away the chance of seeing the quality of the set-up. That is why it is difficult to heap praises on our playing style. |

The poor passes yesterday had to do with the pitch. Even the poor ball control. So the criticism should be less harsh because all the players were working on a very poor pitch. A pitch I nicknamed a mudslide. 3 Likes |

U guys have forgotten that this match is a dead rubber nd probably rohr was just testing a few things out.. I can even believe someone is blaming iwobi.. For me iwobi was d best in our attact today.. He showed skill nd pace but d picth definately let him down.. I dont know if its only me but as for now i prefer iwobi on d wings dan in d Am position.. On a better pitch with iwobi nd onyekuru on d wings algeria for chop am... Ogu also did quite well especially in d second half... Also did any1 notice etebor crosses on d pitch.. It was rarely wayward nd always met their man.. Very Good i must say 4 Likes |

Humility017: I know Ndidi is a good Tackler, and kinda already accustomed to 2 DMs Pivot at Leicester City, but experience-wise I'm gonna go with Ogu. Trust me, Ogu is better than Ndidi. |

Daejoyoung: haba, you need stats to tell you the Algerians were better? Their shots off target were what exactly? Slimani's header in the first was half was a clear goal but he sent it off target, the stats don't explain that. That header from a corner which was a certain goal was sent off target, the ground cross that Ezenwa came for and missed before Slimani again put it wide would be recorded as a shot off target, their final header would be recorded as a shot off target but these were all glorious chances way better than any we created. The ball possession was 49-50 but they created more chances and that shows they played better, way better in the second half(we were like 56-44 up after the first half, just keeping the ball no bite). You are actially kidding if you think we were better than the Algerians yesterday 1 Like |

Humility017: You can not judge Rohr's decisions based on that pitch. In the early minutes of the game, Nacho pulled off a delightful skill, made a run but the pitch let him down. Nacho made another nice combination but the pitch also let him down when he slipped. Those saying Nwakaeme is a jam body player did not watch him closely. If there is one thing that was very clear is that Nwakaeme is a skillful attacker. He covers a lot of distance when he played on the flank. Dropping very deep to the defence with ease. The poor passes and miscontrolled balls were down to the pitch. Even Ola Aina who had a poor run tracking back could be blamed on the pitch too. No one would risk running such length with much effort to prevent causing an injury. So the verdicts should wait for the players to play on a better pitch. 2 Likes |

soetanoreoluwa: what was Ogu even playing yesterday? Sometimes he was so far up the pitch that you'd think he is the Amf/Cmf and sometimes he'd fall back into the DMF role but let's blame the pitch sha |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 7:53am On Nov 11, 2017 |
pyrex23: I think the point should be on the right wing. When Rohr shuffled the arrangement of the team and put Iwobi on the right, that was when Iwobi came to life. Showed intelligence, nice runs but the pitch let down his final balls down. Iwobi really messed up the left back of the Algerians. Unfortunately, Victor Moses got the right wing/right midfield role locked and Iwobi will need to find another place to excel in the team apart from the right role. |

Rohr had a plan yesterday and he would have msde some vital observations The game was a friendly match as far as Rohr was concerned. The result is of little importance. Our players struggled with a terribly poor pitch which actually put them off their game I think we need more work on the goalie as the weakness of Ezenwa was exposed yesterday which had nothing to do with the bad pitch. Also we must fortify our central defence with alternatives else we may have a big problem here Rohr actually experimented in the first half and tweaked in the second which brought the goal Aina was my standout player but Ogu goal was exquisite Iwobi is an asset and Nacho is a potential lethal striker Ndidi worked all through while Etebo might be good for the bench. Abdul has no rival Rohr will continue with experimenting till he gets an optimum performing team. Wish them the best 5 Likes |

pyrex23: Wow. That is a perfect analytical point. I doff my hat. Victor Moses has played good games comfortably from the left. For a long time, even under Stephen Keshi. With that in mind, Iwobi can/should play on the right and Victor Moses on the left. They can switch during games but I think this will bring the best from our wing play. Nice contribution. |

Oasis007: you've drawn up a formation without a workhorse, that is a sure recipe for disaster. All the Argentine midfielders are fast and very very tricky, Mikel and/or Ogu are not known for their one-on-one tackling abilities, we have Di Maria and Banega, Di Maria is easily very fast and skillful and except you did not watch the match between Sevilla and Spartak or the match between Sevilla and Liverpool way back you'd never know how skillfull Banega is too. That midfield would be overrun 5 Likes |

As reported by cafonline.com
It's obvious they were dismayed by the refree's poor decisions last night. Imagine if we needed 3 points from this game to qualify and the refree came up with that embarrassing decision. How a FIFA graded refree will make mockery of himself like this before the entire world beats my imagination. The man is not fit to handle a secondary school inter house game. I hope this will be the last game he handles at this level. 6 Likes 1 Share |

pyrex23: beats me how people think Iwobi would do anything as an Amf or CMF, the guy has the pace and trickery of a winger. Is he creative? Not even close to an AMF at all. I believe theGoodjoe watched Mancity vs Arsenal, in that game(and sadly most of his games) Iwobi was not inventive at all, he was always keeping it simple which is not what an AMF should be doing, it's as if losing possession is a sin for him. I easily prefer him in a wide position just that he needs to improve his stamina, for someone so fast he does not cover his fullbacks |

Humility017:Oga, each match has its own motivation, if we were playing for something important the match wouldn't have been like that, so criticising the coach for playing nacho on the wing isn't necessary. |

Oasis007: perfectly ok with me. Your placing of Mikel was perfect, I prefer Mikel lying deep and your explanation of the roles was spot on, Mikel handles the long passes and the more difficult passes while the other midfielder(Etebo for me) would keep it tidy and neat with short passes. The rest of the squad is quite okay but you do realise that this formation can easily change back to a 4-2-3-1 formation |

For me, the positive to take away from the game was the siege mentality gradually coming back to the Super Eagles. This team is showing signs of maturity with people stepping up to take leadership when it matters most. In recent past, the Super Eagles would have been bullied by these Algerians. I mean, at the last world cup , we took weak characters who couldn't fight for each other. They were all smiles and watched Onazi get bullied and kicked out of the game. I am happy this present team have the character to fight for one another! I loved the way Balogun removed his mask and threatened to pull out Brahimi's eyes when the Algerians threatened to go gangster on us. I loved the way the team came to the rescue of Iwobi when he went toe to toe against the Algerian defender. This was the character I admired about the Mourinho Chelsea team and even the Pep Guardiola's Barcelona side, Arsenal invisibles. Football is beyond kicking a ball around the pitch. Show of strength and character in the face of intimidation is the hallmark of a great team. 12 Likes 3 Shares |

Mickael2: Yeah! I know it can easily be changed to 4 - 2 - 3 - 1 tactically with the Players on the Pitch. If the 4 - 4 - 2 ain't working, Rohr could ask Iheanacho to change Role from SS to AM and still maintain the Balance of the Team. |
