ufumes: This is the next big thing brov, computational dynamics in biological predetermined functions. This is the key to the future, we can easily mimic biological molecular functionalities and create synthetic versions in mass produced amounts for a specified purpose. It's use is limitless on pharmaceuticals and the medical industry at large. Definitely something i'm eyeing at the moment, although i'm looking at the food packaging and processing industry. |

AlmiqhteeAllah: We can't do without the engineers brov, please modify the topic and include engineers, we need engineers in fabrication and production processes, so regardless of fields, they are mandatory ! |

AlmiqhteeAllah: With 15 years of unused scientific knowledge gathered so far, i'm coming out of the shadows. Enough of reading and heaping up researches. I have over 50 researches in different fields of sciences and i hope to start putting them to use beginning 2018. So enough of drooling over tech of other countries, i've participated in Internatioanal competitions and came up top three in multiple occassions in the past, so we can do it. For now, your UV light research and energy harvesting will be required in urban farming projects. As a smart scientist with eyes on Vertical Farming in the nearest future, i'm looking towards Light Haresting Techniques, Water Rention Techniques and other researches that will enable synthetic production of consumables in the safest way possible without the need to manipulate geentic codes to produce foods with high yield. To make it brief, I'm an independent researcher in " Chemistry, Physics and Biology ", I have equal strength in all three areas. I have interests in : * Polymer/Footwear Production and Design * Urban Housing * Agriculture * Bio-digestion and Humanure Processing Systems * Pipeline Design for Optimized agricultural yield * Energy Capture and Storage * Enzymes * Hydophobics, Aqua-phobics, Waste Management * Recycling and Re-modelling * Fabrication Machines * Reverse Engineering * Bio-remediation * Can't remember all at a stretch, damn, i've become rusty * Textiles *I have some concepts designed in robotics and vertical farming strategies, i also have for different industrial functions. The problem is, or rather the critical factor is what do we do with all these knowledge ? It's been years and years of toiling and research. I think it's time to come out of the shadows. So Op let's rub minds, how do we push our researches from paper to visible life form? I have quite a lot of researches and it's time to come out, so where do we start from ? Is there a way to sell some of my researches? I keep having them and dust has been collecting over my research papers. So any ideas? 3 Likes 2 Shares |

Jupxter:Lol. True. But I'm not the OP. I'm not in their field. Just interested in learning a thing or two. |
Re: Active Researchers In Physics, Chemistry And Nanotechnology (what's Your 'λ'?) by Nobody: 2:31pm On Nov 11, 2017 |
AlmiqhteeAllah: Jeez. You both keep confusing me. I'm open to rubbing minds, for me the scientific knowledge is not enough, it's harnessing the knowledge and putting them to functional /productive use |

AlmiqhteeAllah: Forget it ! I'll never get it, including Tozawithaz, you're all one to me So like i said, tired of reading o, i don read read read. Mehn, it's 2018 for me. How about we come up with something definite gentlemen ! We spoke about political ideologies the other day ! Wish we're all in Lag, so we could rub minds over a cup of drink |

Jupxter: I didn't sound verbatim here, if you read properly, I only stated that I'm a part 1 university student, hoping to learn from the in-house scientists research and also present my own research in the future. Thanks. |

BaEnki: Nigerians your age are the lucky ones. You have the internet, free online vids, websites to download books and papers, DIY tutorial websites, people to give you advice etc while you're still in your first year. Read science blogs (Nature, physics world, futurist etc) to know the latest and emerging fields of research, pick an area you'd like to work in (e.g. AI, quantum computing, nanoscience, AR etc), Google up the requirements for competency in the field, self study the required courses in your free time while doing your undergraduate, try and get good grades, learn some basic programming language, finish up your undergraduate degree and go for an MSc OUTSIDE Naija, do an MSc research in your interested field of research and you can easily secure a PhD position. That's the easiest route to becoming a researcher. Just remember you're sub-saharan african, make use of your opportunities wisely. There won't be many! 3 Likes |

So happy to be here. I'm an environmental chemist. Need an advice from experienced researchers here. Just concluded a research on the use of leaves to inhibit corrosion of mild steel (green chemistry thingz). There's been a lot of research on green corrosion inhibitors but its not really in practical application for now. I'm seriously losing interest. I found a new interest in applying geographic information system (gis) to environmental impact assessment(eia) and I have a long standing interest in researching and investing in renewable energy. I'm split between these three areas of interest. Advice please. |
Re: Active Researchers In Physics, Chemistry And Nanotechnology (what's Your 'λ'?) by Nobody: 7:05pm On Nov 12, 2017 |
McIrx: All what you mentioned here looks promising, don't drop one for the other. I like the research on inhibiting corrosion in steel, fantastic. Keep it up. Between GIS and EIA, it's a tough call, it depends on your overall objective. If you break things down, i'm sure you'll realize at the end of the day, the one you prefer ! |

I'm so glad I found this thread on time(tho I'm a bit late), and I hope It doesn't go cold like several others. I'm an engineering physics undergraduate, tho I'm thinking of majoring in physics fully. my interest is quantum physics. I just downloaded the "electrical properties of materials" agent of Allah recommended... I really hope to discuss with others and broaden my knowledge. |

AgentOfAllah:Wow 2017 and I didn't for once stumble on this, well since you mentioned uv, have you done any research on the effect of uv on convid 19? My thought here is since the DNA molecules on the virus is exposed, it will be easily be damage by strong uv such as that from the sun especially the one we have in Africa. The viral transmission directly from a person with the undamaged convid 19 virus will still be the same but droplet which fall on surfaces that are expose the sun will be either destroyed or weaken which I think might be one of the reasons most patients in the country are not getting severe symptoms like those in the cooler climate with less uv exposure, what do you think |

Teslason: There are lots of good books in EE. And it depends on specialty and purpose. Do you need books that discuss general or specific subjects? Or books that are theoritical or practical inclined? |

Teslason:I'll recommend the following books (and in this particular order) for practical electronics. 1. The Art of Electronics (3rd Edition) 2. Practical Electronics for Inventors (4th Edition) by Paul Horowitz (or So) 3. Getting started in Electronics (a handwritten book by Forrest Mims) If you're new to practical electronics, I'll recommend you read them in reversed order. These three books alongside EEVblog (a YouTube Channel by an Australian Guru called David Jones) are my backbone in practical electronics. Other notable mentions are: - Make Electronics - Encyclopedia of Electronic Components - Encyclopedia of Electronic Circuits - NPTEL Basic Electronics by Prof. T.S. Natarajan (A YouTube playlist from NPTEL YouTube channel) |
