Twisted what?
See below and point out the twist.

Abi you think that Jesus Christ did not know what He was talking about there?
Twist ko. Tweet ni

You gave a non-contextual interpretation of that verse, sir. You simply took out the agricultural product part, completely ignoring the other parts.

In those days, there were little use of money as most items were procured by products' exchange. So, agric products were almost equivalent to present day money.

Of course, we cant all bring our "products" (and services) to God as tithe today. We bring money equivalent.

From that verse, Jesus appreciated the Pharisees for paying their tithes, but he encoyraged them to participate in weightier issue of life. This implies that the tithe is good and biblical, but should be done alongside other good things

undecided Ifenes, Let’s not be extreme. I know where you are coming from but let’s not overlook the fact that:

1.Church does serve a purpose.
2. There are several different types of churches.

The fact that some people have decided to outsource their spiritual development is a totally different matter entirely.

Y is he not making biblical quote and examples, better still, let ask the Israelite about tithes and how its collected and how or ways it can be spent simple.
The bible said gather it and choose a venue where the have and the have not will come together and enjoy a feast and drink wine even alcoholic wine (its a day of merriment) to see that the poor are happy in the land,
Mark you money was not the main item for tithing but farm produce and livestock only those who live far from the tithing arena are advice to sell and bring cash so as to save them the stress of moving their items from far and remote locations. But today's pastors are asking only money, if ur a yam farmer, bring 1 tenth of ur harvest, a plantations owners bring the same cow herdsmen same but when you offer services u bring from your net profit and not gross profit yes profit after taxes and miscellaneous deductions, like doctors teacher and real estate consultant etc, again the value such money is to purchase food items and expended only on the issue of tithing day feast of that year. Like rentals, paid cook, suppliers cleaners etc.

Again tithes is to gather items to share for the benefit of all but especially for the poor in our societies period.

Even if you own a land or plantations by God's wish you are not to clear everything on harvest time, yes you must leave some and ask the widows and orphans or orphanage to go into your land to clear the left covers. By so doing you reap blessings from God and love or likeness from people.

So give no pastor your tithes better still church should create a tithe committee mandated to collect and agree on the venue to celebrate the feast for their members that will be a better option or you give ur tithe to the less privilege people you know but be sure its 10% o!
TITHING WAS A PART OF THE LAW OF MOSES; BELIEVERS ARE NOT UNDER THE LAW.

BELIVERS ARE NOW UNDER GRACE SO TITHING IS NOT IN THE NEW TESTAMENT, AS CHRIST HAS REDEEMED ALL BY HIS DEATH ON CROSS CAN YOU PAY 10% FOR THAT? NO

rather, as Christians we are to give from our heart to support God's work by donation to the true church or the deserving less privileged around us. Give from your heart not by force and not by 1% or 100% just be truthful to your desire to give unto God's work or people in need for no reward in mind, as God is not interested in measurements but true love for giving.

If you like your pastor why not give him gift from time to time and not your tithes mandatorily like a tax

TITHING WAS AN INVOLUNTARY TAX TO SUPPORT ISRAEL; BELIEVERS ARE NOT A PART OF THE THEOCRATIC NATION.In the Old Testament, there was both required and voluntary giving. The tithe was required. It was commanded for every Israelite to fund national worship and help the poor. In actuality, there was not just one tithe, but rather two or three ([1] Lev. 27:30-33, Num. 18:20-21; [2] Deut. 12:17-18; [3] Deut. 14:2
so that the total was not 10 percent, but more like 22 percent
Generous grace giving is the New Testament standard and letter to the early churches on tithe but giving for love was more advocated

So give freely and truly to any deserving person or cause or pastor as a support and expect noting in return only but thanks and love to share with men and extend to God. E.g bro John just paid my rent help me thank him! Then bro John will smile and say let's all Thank God who truly provide the money, love and opportunity for His works and Name to be praised. That all folks! No tithes but show true love and support to one another and to each other.

Wow, I love ur summation

The thief said that "many believers are on their way out because they are keeping more of their wealth than desired ".

1. First of all, the crook should know that most people who give actually give from their meagre incomes or hard earned money, not from some enormous pile of wealth
2. He ( Oyedepo ) is keeping more than is necessary , he should sell all he has and give to the struggling members of his congregation
3. In many countries where tithe is not paid, the unbelievers ( so called ) live more healthy and prosperous lives than those who this liar and crook is accusing in Nigeria of not giving their best

Come out of the churches of these wicked occultic men and be free

My own questions goes thus,

1.Are Jews not christains?
2. As a christain, if we r suppose to follow the law of the jews why choose tithing alone, what happen to other laws?
3.why are these pastors not quoting any bible verse to support their belief?
3.if the pastors also pay tithes, pls who collects them?
4.why are these pastors suddently outspoken when it comes to the issue of tithing.. but kept mute when they talk about the
exorbitant school fees they impose on their school meant to better the lives of people...
5.why is it that, majority of people who are against tithing seems to be the poor and the unemployed ones?
6.can these upcoming pastors claiming 'God called them' survive without collecting tithes?
7.All these made pastors claiming they dont use use the tithe for anything, pls what are the tithes being used for then?
8.To all these already made rich pastors, Can anyone of them come out and tell us if they have never for once use these tithes for
their own personal use.
9.Now that these rich pastors that are now claiming the tithes are too inconsequential, can they all tell us if these same
tithes were inconsequential whey they were upcoming pastors or when they were just starting as pastors...

questions tobe contd....

Good! Why did Christ say in the last sentence? He said that we should do the most important things which are justice, love and good living WHILE still not neglecting the lesse things which include tithing....Christ said that himself! I wonder why you all deviously shy away from that last sentence.

Was he talking to you? Christ had not died and the Levitical priesthood (sustained through tithes) was still in existence. Now, Christ has died and we have a Melchizedek priesthood (not supported by tithe).

Haven't you read in your Bible the reason why tithes belonged to the Levites?

See what Daddy Freeze has caused with his sheeple movement thingy!

I believe so much in giving to God , and how?
My bible tells me that 'whatsoever you do to all these people hungry and naked in the world you have done for me'.

I pay my tithe (which is solely beetween me and Baba God) and only I know the medium I pay it through, it's a personal choice.
GOD BLESS US ALL.
The problem with most people speaking against daddy freeze is that, they don't read through his writeup or listen to his message thoroughly
By the way your comments in it 100% is supporting and summarizing "daddy freeze" message

From that video, Oyedepo didnt exactly talk about Tithing. He only gave a subtle and logical explanation on the giving using the case study of an elephant.

Oyedepo has a good sense of humour tho

What do you expect from a false teacher and a con man. You expect him to be harsh like John the Baptist or Jesus Christ and lose his large followers and the proceeds they bring in to feed his greed? One thing all salesmen have is good sense of humor. That is about the only way they can convince you to buy their product.

In MY church and YOUR church people pay tithe for the following reason:
-pastor keeps record so they don't want to enter bad book of non-tithers.
-don't read the bible themselves so they're not in the know.
-looking for blessing believing that Abraham's blessing was because he paid tithe. (I'm afraid of this group cos they can also easily be wooed into idolatry or sacrifices).
-afraid of curse because of emphasis on OT:Malachy.
-looking for protection from disaster

Here's a dissection of the bible on this topic. Though the writer failed to identify the three types of tithes, I must agree with him that "old things have passed away" and so should set aside.

Most people criticising pastors do not even pay tithe or contribute more than 2000 for a church project, and they make the loudest noise.

Real givers in church who gives large amount of money does so secretly without anyone's knowledge.

People, if as a contractor, i win a big contract or i get promoted in my job with the aid of my pastors prayers, omo, what is 10% or more to give God back?

If you can't pay tithe, leave those that understands the kingdom's principles of tithing to continue.

A check on my bosses, have shown that they donate massively in church projects/pay tithes, reason they keep getting it back in folds.

I have some Alhaji friends (non-fanatics) who whenever i give them invitation for a church project launching, they willingly give me big money in an envelope to give to the Church.

WE NEED A CREED ON CHRISTIAN THREADS HERE JUST LIKE THE MUSLIMS HAVE
.

Again no scriptural evidence to back the support of tithe in the new testament church.

Yet, Jesus stooped low to die for everyone. When we accuse you of worshipping your pastors, you will deny it vehemently.

If the Son of God himself could stoop low to be born of a mere woman, and be laid in a manger and die like a common criminal, then, who the hell is Oyedepo? The last time I checked, Oyedepo was a man, not God.

Collecting Tithe and offering is a form of unbelief to God

Most all believers think of unbelief, not as a sin but as a weakness. And therefore they don't learn to hate unbelief as they hate other sins.

But the Bible speaks of an unbelieving heart as an EVIL heart (He. 3: 12) Jesus rebuked His disciples seven times for unbelief. (See Mt. 6:30; 8:26; 14:31; 16:8; 17:17-20; Mk.16:14; Lk.24:25). It seems that He almost never rebuked His disciples for anything else!!

Unbelief is an insult to God, because it implies that God does not care or provide for His children even as much as evil fathers on earth care and provide for their children.

There is also a counterfeit faith being preached these days, as a means of getting things from God. But that is not the faith that Jesus preached. He wanted us to have faith to live by, in our daily life. Victory over depression, bad moods and discouragement can come only as we have faith in a loving Father in heaven and in the wonderful promises He has given us in His Word.

Twice we read of Jesus being amazed - once when he saw FAITH and once when He saw UNBELIEF!! (Mt. 8:10; Mk. 6:6). Jesus was excited whenever He saw faith in people. And He was disappointed when He saw people unwilling to trust in a loving Father in heaven.

Most Pastors today believe in their members pocket not God, I can boldly tell you that Gbile Akani is a good example for any Christian today, Zac Ponnem and their likes not Pastors like the one you saw in that video who will even tell you to attack a Fulani man for attacking you or like Pastor Suleman or Apostle Suleman they are NOT an example for any serious Christian

They continue to defend their greed by insisting that money is needed to run the ministry. If the ministry is run modestly, it would have long stopped needing huge donations that are burdens to many needy people in the ministry. It is because every pastor is running his ministry extravagantly that they will continue to need huge donations.

Until we bring the Church back under Christ, these men will continue to spend lavishly in the pretence of building houses for God. For now, just as it was prophesied in the Bible, the sheep have been scattered abroad.

The likes of Oyedepo move about in large entourage and fly private jets. Such extravagant lifestyle. If the ministry is modest in its spending, I don't see why they still burden the flock financially. They should be the ones feeding the flock now. The amount these churches make every Sunday is enough to sustain them for another whole year without burdening their followers. If only they can live modestly. You will never see them talk about how Jesus maintained his ministry without living extravagantly or the Apostles carried on without buying ships. Paul went on missionary journeys to Asia Minor and Europe and yet never owned a horse or a ship. Each of these missionary journeys lasted several years and never did he talk about needing his own private boat or horse or security guards. Instead he would tarry and work with tentmakers so as not to be a burden to the flock.
