Moses: Azpilicueta Is My Biggest Influence 1 November 12, 2017 10:36 am Moses: Azpilicueta Is My Biggest Influence By Adeboye Amosu: Nigeria wing-back, Victor Moses, has picked teammate Cezar Azpilicueta as the player who has played the biggest part in transforming his Chelsea career. Moses joined Chelsea from Wigan in 2012, but had a torrid time at the beginning of his stay with the Blues failing to nail a regular playing time. The 26-year-old was loaned out to Liverpool, Stoke City and West Ham United after his first season at the club. He has however witnessed a remarkable change in fortune since the arrival of Antonio Conte at the club, thriving in a new wing- back role. “I’d say Azpilicueta (has influenced me most). He played a huge part in my defensive development last season,”Moses who has been nominated for the Aiteo CAF and BBC African Footballer of Tthe Year Awards told Goal. “He is always behind me, always constantly talking to me to make sure I am in the right position. When is the time to go and when’s the time to stay. “The more games I was playing, [the more] we were getting used to the formation and position I was playing, which worked out well for me and he helped a lot. “He understands me. We established a partnership which was very good. “To me, I would say that Cesar is underrated. As a defender he has got everything. He’s quick, he’s got that desire, passion for the game. He just wants to play football. Azpilicueta is never tired. He can run all night in every minute. He wants to play every game. “I think he could play on a Saturday and then again on a Monday. He’s got a great ability. “It is great for us that we have him. He’s someone that loves the game. He is always talking to every player before games. He wakes everyone up and says we have got to go out there and win this game.” https://www.completesportsnigeria.com/moses-azpilicueta-biggest-influence/ |

Icon4s:water and levels thing. BTW, has anyone noticed that we don't warm up into games on time? We take time to stable up and a tactical team would have put 2 goals into our net within the first 20 mins. I have been noticing this for a while now, everyone should watch our first 20 mins again to confirm what I'm saying. |

somehow: But has this team ever conceded within 20mins? In fact in all the qualifier games, we scored first. We were never behind in any encounter. With the exception of the last 2 games we were usually 1 or 2 goals up at half time. In our first 3 games we led 2-0 at half time. Your observation is quite valid but I don't see it as much of a problem. It has even worked in our favor a couple of times as we hit our opponents on the counter when they were pressing. 1 Like |

SerVik: One player never wins a game it's the team, it's a combination of different variables. Within those variables Ighalo's pressing and impact was pivotal too that victory over Cameroon. |

Icon4s: Every position in a team should have competition Aina is not a left back but he can play the position because he is a very good player. His best position is RB why would a manager not want to have competition That I find baffling. In football anything can happen so you always have a back up plan. If Rohr as you put has settled for Shehu that's his choice I don't necessarily have to agree with it. What I am saying it would be beneficial for Aina and for the team for Aina to also play that position so both thier qualities can be assessed. Training shows you some qualities but also so does match time. How is Aina supposed to build confidence if he can't compete to show his ability. Very few players play one game and completely claim the position. The only player who did that in my opinion was Yobo. He was a right winger at Marseille then played right back at Afcon 2002 and totally claimed the position no contest. The rest as we say is history. What other players do we have that can play RB competently against top players? |

kingphilip: You qualify my observation by your response the fact that they were considered good enough in a team like Brazil arguably the best in the world. Says something in itself,l about the Chinese league. We do know what the final selection will be for Russia but they were actually considered enough to be invited. In this regard if Brazil can consider players in China why not Nigeria. Kaka the forgotten man was considered. I am saying I see no reason why Obagoal can not be invited even Obasi, Efe. keep an open mind let's see if they have something bto offer. If Osimhen, Nwakali and other can be considered why not them. They are still playing competitive football and giving a good account of themselves. I do not see any problem. Are they older than Defoe, Alves, Robben, Evra, etc |

komekn:the players you put up there as being considered by Brasil were NEVER considered during their time in the Chinese league. Hulk was considered before he went there; Paulinho was considered after he went there and have been starting ever since he joined Barcelona; Tardelli just got only a call up which is the last game and sincerely i don't know where he plies his trade presently; Oscar was a regular before he went to China and haven't been called up since then even to be a training material even at his very young age which should be between 27-28 years. does it really mean both Oscar and Hulk suddenly loss form since they went to China or Paulinho is now competing for world best winning various MOTM since he came to Barcelona? are these players Defoe, Alves, Robben, Evra, in the Chinese league too? |

Mickael2: Unless you have not played on a wet pitch. I have. I remember once at Calabar when I landed on a pitch, as soon as I made a dash, I slipped and slid a long distance. That happened because I was trying to move fast. One misconception about Iheanacho is that he is not fast. I have tried to explain this over and over again. Look at Iheanacho's first goal for City. Watch the speed he used to get to the ball. A slow player can not move that fast. Watch Iheanacho's goal against Hull City. Before Sterling crossed the ball, there was a gap between the defenders and closed the distance in a short time before Sterling hit the cross. Watch Iheanacho's second goal against Aston Villa. After the Villa player passed the ball back, watch the distance between Iheanacho and the ball and the defender and the ball. Iheanacho got to the ball faster than the defender and out ran him. A slow player can not achieve that. I have said it before. The misconception comes from when Iheanacho is with the ball. He does not make runs with the ball, due to the way he plays the nine role. However, off the ball, which is what is what also happens during pressing, Iheanacho is fast. Watch Iheanacho's goals against Manchester United’s youth sides. He took on those players with pace. Last season, Iheanacho was able to carry out counter attacks with De Bruyne and Sterling. If he was slow, he would not meet up. |

soetanoreoluwa: Don't be lazy, I will not do that for you. Go and check the teams Obagoal has played for over the past ten years and you will find the innumerable awards and accolades. Although he is currently injured his stats can be argued to exceed by comparison ratio the stats of Ighalo in the Chinese league. However, You have jumped in and your response is totally out of context of the question I originally responded too. Go back read the original question and respond in context. That would be more beneficial. |

Iheanacho slipped because he was trying to outrun players on a bad pitch. Simple fact. Anyone arguing against that fact is being unreal. Finito. |

komekn: It is surprising that you are saying this. We don't have a good left back and only Aina & Ebuehi* can cover that to some extent for now. The coach wants to utilize the few at his disposal until able left back emerge. Aina's versatility handed the position to him. This is not just Rohr, coaches always do that and I can give thousands of example. 1 Like |

Mujtahida: Eeee be like say u deh mind. I find it incomprehensible that we refuse to test new player. Ok Shehu is marvellousmarvellous, but how marvellous is he Let's test other RB's including Ebuehi let's see. Friendly matches are for testing players winning is not that important. We are still keeping faith with a limited set of players are we afraid of testing players that might displace those who are there. What's the problem. In reality we have looked in a very small and limited pool of players look at the number of players in contention in England probably near 40+ This is replicated across a lot of top performing countries across the World. Brazil may select up to 50 players both old and young but will select only 23. Best players go. 1 Like |

Icon4s:At the last World Cup Argentina said they noticed it and tailored their strategy to exploit that 'slow warming up' of ours. Remember at the World Cup you'd face different countries from different continents with different footballing philosophies. Look at what Zambia did. They charged at us. We were ragged in the first half. A better team will nail us. We need to take the game by the scruff of the neck from the blast of the whistle. We might even use it to surprise teams who expect us to warm up slowly. 2 Likes |

Chrismario:that's what i've been trying to make him understand Shehu is giving us what we want to see in the right back role. even if there is a rating kind of that is unbiased, Shehu might be clocking 90 and Aina around 94-95 for instance while probably at left back he might be on 85-89 while our left back might be around 75-80. Isn't it safe we forgo him at right back and fix him at left back since we won't be missing him too much in the right back role while we embark on the search for a better left back? cc: komekn |

komekn:agreed we need a formidable back up for all the roles in the teams and players should be tested to select the best. Aina is a good right back that we know and you don't even know if the coach is testing him to know if he can play the left back so well so as to have options if you were the coach in this circumstances we find ourselves in we need to play a game tomorrow, who would you play in the left back role since Aina will be played in the right back role to determine who is a better right back among the two |
