That you see an image on Google does not mean it is free to use. Some images have copyright restrictions which you need to secure approval from the owner before you can use them. You need to be careful when you copy things off the internet for the sake of reproducing them publicly. Due diligence must be carried out to ensure there are no restrictions or peculiar issues behind what you have copied off the internet for public recirculation which wasn't done in this case hence the backlash.
Did the aide that prepared the slides check that the image he wants to use for a Federal Government function is free and had no issues? No. Should he be fired for this blunder? Yes. Should the family sue the government for public embarrassment? Yes.

As far as the law is concerned he is yet innocent until a judgment has been passed. They are using 'opinion of friends' and bias to punish, blackmail and deny him basic human rights. No one should stand in the way of Nigerian laws.

Some one was tasked with preparing the slides. He needed to depict crying for help and probably searched Google for images.

He saw this and it perfectly communicate what he wanted without the person knowing the story behind it.

Youths should use their common sense once in a while. Stop following the crowd.
