Thank you so much. I had wanted to ask how many of those players were actually born in Morocco after seeing tbaba1234 's post earlier. I was too lazy to do the research. I remember the commentator saying something to that effect in their game against CIV. With Raja Casablanca as Africa's Champions they should have put faith in their home based players in order not to kill the development of their league. I love my sarcasm. Mujtahida: |

Joebie: We are the ones bothering ourselves with assigning tags to these guys. #homegrown #Foreignbred #Foreignborn #Oyinbo. They are all Nigerians and if they are the best players we have, let's have an exclusive Starting Eleven made up of them. But trust my people to be all sentimental and emotional. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Joebie: Morocco has a far better league than Nigeria but the team that just qualified for the world cup is made up of mainly foreign based players. In Nigeria, some people will call for mediocre players so as to promote the league. 4 Likes 1 Share |

ARGENTINA VS NIGERIA: TV CHANNEL, STREAM, KICKOFF TIME, MATCH PREVIEW Oli Platt 00:01 SHARE 0 COMMENTS The Super Eagles will look to cap off a strong year by taking on the 2014 World Cup finalists, who will be without Lionel Messi Argentina will take on Nigeria in an international friendly in Krasnodar, Russia on Tuesday. The South Americans have travelled to Russia for a pair of friendlies, with the first taking place in Moscow against next summer's World Cup hosts last weekend. And they will now face the Super Eagles, who cruised through their World Cup qualifying group to book their place at the tournament. Game: Argentina vs Nigeria Date: Tuesday, November 14 Time: 16:30 GMT / 11:30 ET TV CHANNEL & LIVE STREAM In the UK, the match will not be available to watch live on television or via stream. In the U.S., the match will be available to watch live on television on beIN Sports and by stream via beIN Sports Connect. SQUADS & TEAM NEWS ARGENTINA Lionel Messi has dropped out of the Argentina squad and will not feature. Gonzalo Higuain and Mauro Icardi are also not involved in this squad, with Paulo Dybala and Sergio Aguero likely to start up front. Potential starting XI: Marchesin; Mascherano, Pezzella, Mammana; Pavon, Kranevitter, Banega, Lo Celso, Di Maria; Dybala, Aguero. NIGERIA Nigeria have called up Brian Idowu, who was born in Russia but is eligible to play for Nigeria. Victor Moses and Odion Ighalo are among their injury absentees. Gernot Rohr is likely to make changes to the team that drew with Algeria, including a potential debut for 19-year-old Deportivo La Coruna goalkeeper Francis Uzoho. Potential starting XI: Uzoho; Aina, Troost-Ekong, Balogun, Idowu; Ndidi, Mikel, Oghenekaro; Iwobi, Onyekuru, Musa. GAME PREVIEW It has been a good year for Nigeria, who have only lost one game in 2017 in matches that feature their squad members based outside of African leagues. The Super Eagles went undefeated through the final round of World Cup qualifying and became the first African team to book their place at the finals by starting with three wins in a row. Their group, featuring Algeria, Cameroon and Zambia, was not a simple one but the combined efforts of veterans such as John Obi Mikel and Victor Moses and starlets including Kelechi Iheanacho and Alex Iwobi got the job done. They will now face their toughest test of the year so far in Argentina, who may not have Lionel Messi for this game but will not be short of goals between Paulo Dybala and Sergio Aguero. Jorge Sampaoli's Albiceleste have had a much more challenging 12 months, though, and will be made to work by a young Super Eagles squad. --Goal |

Rohr: Osimhen, Others Still Have Super Eagles World Cup Chance; We Fear Nobody November 13, 2017 10:35 pm By Dare Esan: Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has left the door open for more players to make his squad to the Russia 2018 World Cup, Completesportsnigeria.com reports. Nigeria became the first country from Africa to qualify for the 2018 World Cup after defeating Zambia 1-0 in Uyo in early October. The Super Eagles won the sole ticket available to African qualifying Group B by claiming 14 points from six games with four wins and two draws. Rohr is aware that his squad still needs some improvement so he has not ruled out new players staking claims. One of such players is Victor Osimhen, the 18-year-old Wolfsburg striker who was top scorer at the FFFA U-17 World Cup in 2015. “More players will come in,” Rohr told Completesportsnigeria.com. “The likes of Victor Osimhen, young players, quick players. The door is still open. The list is not done yet. We have the possibility to get 30 players.” On the FIFA World Cup draw billed for Zurich on December 1, Rohr said: “We are open for all the teams. We know we are in the last pot so we will get teams with better FIFA ranking than us in that group. We want to get out of the group.” --CSN 2 Likes |
