Like OP said, If you need to come here, Pls plan very well and one of the best route is if you can use F1 visa though the tuition fee is still much but I have seen people with little funds getting GA/TA/RA and living fine. Do GRE and get good scores and then you will might be fortunate to get a good ride(scholarship), dont tell the VO that you are going for a conference in new york and you show up at California. Dont tell tell the CBP at POE that your conference/visit will last for one week and show up with two fully loaded luggage and fully loaded hand lugage, You are on your own Your Conference is 5 days, You booked hotel of $500 for 5 days and when asked about the cash you have at POE, You can only show them $300. You are on your own. These people at POE have many stuffs to do. Once you dont give them something to doubt on, You will be fine. Pls do your homework well. Make your passing at POE very smooth by helping the immigration officers to do their jobs. the only way to do that is you have verifiable documents and make sure your answers are straight forward. You are saving them some stress and also helping yourself. Lastly, dont believe any friend of yours saying he is living large in america and posting different types of cars on fbk. dont fall victim. Be wise! My eyes don see no be small I swear 31 Likes 4 Shares |

lionlee216:I'm so sorry for your experiences bro. What you experienced is common among most Nigerians, but not all Nigerians. There are still people that are, and will still be loyal to the core no matter what. Please don't relent whenever you are privileged to help, it is an expensive virtue that can only be exhibited by expensive people. MUCH LOVE FROM ME. |

Can't remember. Exactly what was your question about buying a house? As someone who has been here, and working professionally, for a very long time, I can chip in on certain questions as I see necessary. whyteone: 2 Likes 1 Share |

Very good response from your lady. As highlighted, the location plays a BIG factor into how much the property is and how much it will rent for. And you do NOT necessarily have to live where your rental property is. I have rental property in Scottsdale, Arizona., but I live in Chicago. Management of the property, etc. is handled by a management company, for a fee. BlowJobs: 2 Likes |

Re: Getting A Green Card By Adjustment Of Status: My Yankee Experience by Bossman(m): 4:38pm On Nov 14, 2017 |
This is absolutely correct! Without the correct visa, you will struggle to survive. omoluabiguy: 1 Like |

whyteone: In response to your questions 1. Multi unit means a building with multiple apartments (2, 3, 4, etc.) in it. So, may be you are living in one of the units and you rent out the rest. 2. That would be my guess. At least you'll need an SSN. A student visa will allow you to get one. 3. I believe the example he gave is referencing a multi unit. Where rent from all the units covers the mortgage. So, you are living for free. And of course building equity in the property. 2 Likes |

Defaulting is a very bad idea, but if that's the only choice you have, so be it. Your credit will get killed, and it will be close to impossible to do anything that involves credit until it drops off your credit report(7 years I believe). Of course, you'll lose the property. Just too many negative things are associated with defaulting on a mortgage, period! lionlee216: 4 Likes 1 Share |

lionlee216: You are right on your post, but the bolded one, it depends on the categories of Nigerians you are hanging with. There are lots of Nigerians actually living big and fine here. If you have met graduate students on scholarship who are getting paid while schooling and the ones that graduated and working and maybe the Nigerians that are citizens and finished school Mostly in medicine and IT fields. They are earning big. Apart from those categories, you are right especially if they came in thru b1/b2, the struggle will be tough. You can’t even rent a house on your name. You’ll have to start watching your back the moment your visa expires. We see it here all the time #omoluabi |

This is very true. There are tons of Nigerians working professionally here and doing well. As an IT person that works downtown Chicago, you'll be surprised how many Nigerians (Africans in general, but mostly Naija) I run into downtown or on the train during my commute downtown...all working professionally. omoluabiguy: 2 Likes |

omoluabiguy: But I have never seen this type of people come on social media flaunting cash, cars, making so much mouth. I guess its because they have good jobs and family that keep them busy A distant friend of mine undergoing AOS was seen on fbk with plenty 100$ bills flaunting them on fbk. recenly, he posted pictures of Nissan Altima 2014 saying "Who God has Blessed, No man can curse". I was wondering where he got the money from until I confirmed it was just "packaging". people back home will be thinking this guy has made a lot of money in US 2 Likes |

lionlee216: Like I said, it depends on the categories of Nigerians you hang around with. I know some low key blessed guys and I know some who are doing well and still flashing their lifestyle on social media. It depends on personality. Most of them are packaging like you said but few of them are real! Matured men won’t flash their lifestyles on Facebook and Instagram I know #omoluabi |

Josh121: Professional certificate is one thing, having the required skills is another thing. It’s literally not about your certificate here, it’s mostly about what skills you are good at e.g data analytics, programming, database and more considering you graduated and get certified by a US accredited university. I am not sure about “working under the table before getting papers”. That’s not an easy process as it sounds. You are talking about years upon years. You can finish university and start working with all those years under the table before getting papers if any. #omoluabi 2 Likes |

No. Not possible to work under the table. As someone that has been doing consulting for multiple vendors, Every single vendor I have worked with will do 'e-verify' first. See below. Bottom line - you can not do a professional job if you are not legal. petty jobs, cab driver, etc. are probably possible. But you will be paid underground. Since you will not have a SSN. https://www.uscis.gov/e-verify/employees/e-verify-overview Josh121: 3 Likes |
