Am still waiting for a pastor that will teach on tithe by merging both Malachi and Deuteronomy. Until then fa fa fao. I dont know why all pastors are avoiding Deuteronomy. Is Deuteronomy not in their bible! Y are pastors picking part they want and skip part that is against their desires. It's possible sha, wen they become pastor, their wife becomes pastor mrs, their kids senior pastor. Na family title!! How many prophet in the bible their wife became prophetess automatically. Does d bible even recognize their wife ! |

TANTUMERGO007: I've been reading stories on this tithing matter but the thing is you people don't know what you're talking about. Do you know pastors, apostles, ministers etc are not supposed to do any other work apart from the work God gave them. If they aint working, what are they supposed to feed on and used in catering for their families? The scripture told us that at the time lands were shared among the Israelites after they arrived at their promised land, the Levites were left out of this because God commanded that they should have no share because He's their inheritance only! Deut 10:9 Wherefore Levi hath no part nor inheritance with his brethren; the LORD is his inheritance, according as the LORD thy God promised That was why God asked the Israelites to bring a tenth of their harvest to the house of the Lord so that the Levites could have something to feed on considering they had no land to farm on nor goods. But today, it's being translated to money because that's the worth of people's work, not the farming work engaged in those days. Did you remember that God asked Pastor Adeboye and Pastor Kumuyi to dump their high paying lecturing job for the work of God? I guess you people can now run your stupid mouth because God has chosen to bless them today. Let me ask, how many of you would have done that for God, especially at the time when the church was just starting afresh with just few members, most of them being ageing poor people of those days? How about Apostle Ayodele Babalola? He was asked to leave his decent paying contractor's job for God's work which he never wanted to, until he started having problem with his tractor and was encountering daily problem almost to the point of death. I just pity you people because you're incurring God's wrath on yourself. You can't leave your high paying job for God yet condemn those that left theirs for God because you're envious of the blessings that coming to them. Yeah, we know some of them have ventured out of the will of God and would rather gallivant around than help the poor but that's for God to judge them. Don't act as a judge because we don't even know if you're even worse than them. Better still, just condemn their behaviour and shut up! |

Tithe was never paid during Jesus time. Bible said "Jesus died that we have life in abundant" .not abundant when you pay tithe. Bible said "seek ye the kingdom of God and his righteousness and every other thing will be added unto you" God said I will bless who I will bless and curse who I will curse. ..... the blessing was NEVER tied to tithe and offering.... The same bible said Obedience is better than sacrifice......obey God commandments.... and these commandments does not have paying of tithe inclusive..... Most lazy, shallow, uninformed, misguided, frauded minded Pastors just play on people intelligence and scare them with tithe and offering......how many tithe did Solomon paid in the Bible? How many times did Jesus preached tithe while on earth.... Blind battemeus that Jesus healed of his blindness, how many tithe did he pay? David the man after God's own heart, how many tithe did he pay? Daniel in the Bible, how many tithe did he pay? Even the 12 dIsciples, never preached tithe payment... Abraham that is father of all .....how many tithe did he pay? Most churches now. ...take tithe pass 6 unit course . They will be threatening their ever gullible congregation that ....if you don't pay your tithe , you are stealing from God and thing will be "tight" for those who disobey.... Since when has the Pastor turn to God's "Manager" ... to direct God on whom to bless and whom not to bless...? Pastors are humans like you please..... stop this ignorance and read up your bible or rather study bible closely....on any issue bothering you.Ask holy spirit to speak to you. ... God said we should help the poor, clothe the naked, feed those hungry, house those homeless etc and each time you do this to people around, you are doing it unto God.....but when Church close now, big men will carry only their family in their car and zoom off ....the big man sits in a good position closer to the man of God ..too much hatred in the church, Pastor telling lies, misinterpreting the Bible to suit them, sleeping with their members, divorcing their wife and marry another, unaccountable spending of church money for person use, going behind to seek for powers from other sources, tribalism in the church, favouritism, jealousy eye .... People pay money to build schools and later the poor among them can not afford to send their children to the school......Pastors should try and be more Godly and less worldly. . All the blessings of God in the Bible, the blessing of Jesus and their miracles...how many were tied to tithe and in what book, chapter and versa |

aspirebig: Yet Jesus blessed the poor woman that gave all she had? Yet Jesus blessed the woman that washed his feet with oil? Btw, Jesus isn't expected to pay tithes because he's the head of the church himself. However, his disciples which became the apostles had the congregation giving to the church. Let me remind you of the couples that died after they tried to cheat God with their money in front of Peter? Like I stated earlier, servants of God are not expected to do any other work. Hence, they depend on the proceeds coming from the congregation in the church and believe me, these people are blessed by God! |
Re: Primate Nicholas Okoh Speaks On Tithing by aspirebig: 11:31pm On Nov 14, 2017 |
diadem10: The couple did not die because they refused to pay tithe..... they died because they were hiding part of their money. ...Bible never called it tithe....so what is your argument here? God said he will bless whom he will bless....or is that on in your own bible? |
Re: Primate Nicholas Okoh Speaks On Tithing by obatoro: 11:36pm On Nov 14, 2017 |
diadem10:Your argument is pointless and have no bearing whatsoever on whether tithing is scriptural or not. Where in the bible is it written that pastors are not supposed to work? Have you forgotten that Paul was a tent maker? Peter was a fisherman. You people always mix up your tithe argument with giving. Pastors can be taken care of through giving. |
Re: Primate Nicholas Okoh Speaks On Tithing by diadem10: 11:41pm On Nov 14, 2017 |
aspirebig: I never said it was tithes but it was still money which they tried to cheat God. Let me remind you that Jesus asked Peter three times if he loved Him more than fishing after he caught him fishing as soon as he resurrected. This shows he wasn't expecting Peter to do any other work than the work he gave him, which is to win souls for him. So, how are these pastors like Peter expected to feed, clothe and cater for their families? Don't also forget that God also commanded the Levites not to do any work apart from the temple work. As a matter of fact, the Levites were given no lands in the promised land because God commanded it but instructed the isrealites to bring a tenth of their produce to his temple so that his servants can have something to feed on. This is same thing with the pastors who left their work for christ. Some even left a high paying job as in the case of pastor Kumuyi and Adeboye! |
Re: Primate Nicholas Okoh Speaks On Tithing by diadem10: 11:44pm On Nov 14, 2017 |
obatoro: Lol. Yet Jesus asked Peter if he loved Him more than his fishing after Peter went fishing as soon as Jesus died and resurrected? Lol. Like I stated earlier, the likes of Adeboye, Kumuyi, Apostle Babalola left their Jobs for christ because he commanded it. It's you thatt need to read the Bible. |
Re: Primate Nicholas Okoh Speaks On Tithing by aspirebig: 11:48pm On Nov 14, 2017 |
diadem10: So because they left their lucrative jobs to do God's work, that justifies the tithe they are collecting week in week out ....unscripturally. |
Re: Primate Nicholas Okoh Speaks On Tithing by diadem10: 11:51pm On Nov 14, 2017 |
aspirebig: Yes. The Levites collected tithes as commanded by God.. A tenth isn't too much for God. Nobody is forcing you to pay tithes though but I know God blesses people who gives to His servant! |

[quote author=zoedew post=62374637]I have found extensive discussion in the public space on this matter needless. It is a calculated diversion from the pit of hell to distract attention from the Good News that JESUS died and rose again and is at the right hand of God interceding for as many who will believe in Him for salvation from eternal damnation in hell with the devil. The Bible in Malachi 3 is clear on tithing. Anyone who has problems with that is taking analgesic for another’s headache since tithe is commanded for Christians and not folks who do not believe in Christ. What should be the preoccupation of Christians and Pastors is to let all know JESUS saves and that heaven and hell are real! Why is the message of salvation and holiness not trending instead?[Mumu. Just Say Malachi 3:10 is all You know about Tithe.. With all The Scriptures.. Its only one you mentioned.! Ode] |

lloyds: God loves us not because we are lovely people but because He is Love. 2 Peter 1:3 (His divine power has GIVEN to us ALL THINGS that pertains to life and Godliness"....). The giving part is a done deal not because you are tithing but becos of Who God is. The Bible says while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. If God gave his Best GIFT to us when we don't deserve it, were enemies and did nothing good.... How much more now that we are his children. Summary is that you can receive more than that you are receiving today... And God doesn't have to change anything. He has Given you All you need. Keep giving out of Love.... |

According to Primates message, Jesus took bread from the little child and blessed the people that they all had food to eat. Did Jesus pocket the fish and bread for his own benefit? Why do some pastors pocket church money and not give it to all that there may be food in the house for all? |

oputa1: Pastor, Femiaribisalahas taken to Twitter to share his thoughts on the tithing debate currently rocking religious circles in the country.See his tweets below...Are tithers blessed? Jesus pronounced woe on them: “WOE TO YOU, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! FOR YOU PAY TITHE of mint..” (Mt. 23:23).According to Jesus, the Pharisee who gave tithes of all hispossession was not justified. (Lk 18:10-14). So much for the blessing of tithing. No Nigerian prophet, so-called pastor or highfalutin General Overseer is qualified to receive tithes from members of his or her congregation.Tithe or no tithe, believers are blessed: “with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.” (Ephesians 1:3).God says: “I will curse whoever curses you.” (Gen 12:3). Soif your G.O. curses you for not tithing, the curse will only fall on his head. The only people authorised to receive tithes were the Levites. (Hebrews 7:5). Nigerian pastors are not Jews, how much more Levites.Even Jesus could not have received the tithe because he was from the tribe of Judah and not Levi. How then can Nigerians pastors qualify?Today, Jewish rabbis who are still under Mosaic Code no longer receive tithes because Levi is a lost tribe of Israel. No Levites: no tithes.God did not accept money as tithe. The tithe was tied to the land, which was God’s gift to Israel.Contrary to the law, pastors today only accept money as tithe, showing they are nothing but money-grubbers determined to fleece the flock. Ask your pastor if you can give your tithe to the orphanage, or bring it as food items to be eaten in church. See if he will agree with you.Since only agricultural and animal resources were included, a fisherman gave no tithe of his fisheries. Neither did a miner, carpenter or anyone from the various professional occupations pay tithes. So unless you are a farmer or keeper of livestock, you are not supposed to tithe.Tithing belongs to the Law of Moses. But Christians are not under the law but under grace. (Romans 6:14). The law was not given to Nigerians, it was given to Jews. (Psalms 147:19-20; Malachi 4:4). Therefore, the Law on tithes is inapplicable to Nigerians.Tithing was primarily applicable to Jews in Israel. When Jewish populations grew in Babylon, Ammon, Moab and Syria, these lands also became tithe-able lands. However, tithes were unacceptable from strictly Gentile lands. So it makes no sense to tithe in Nigeria.Levites were not given any land. God says: “Instead, I give to the Levites as their inheritance the tithes that the Israelites present as an offering to the Lord.” (Num 18:24).But today’s pastors own lands. They do not live as Levites and should stop pretending to be Levites.God says: “Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be FOOD in my house.” (Malachi 3:10). He doesnot say “that there may be MONEY in my house.”You cannot cherry-pick what to obey in the law by singling out tithing: “The person who keeps all of the laws except one is as guilty as a person who has broken all of God's laws.” (James 2:10).If Nigerian pastors insist on tithing, they must also insist on all other stringent requirements of the law; including the stoning to death of adulterers, disobedient children, homosexuals and Sabbath violators. They should also restore blood-sacrifices for good measure. It's well. |

The same bible said ..."you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free".....tithe is unscriptural...no " real" man of God will tell you to pay tithe because they know the truth . Is unfortunate that many have been misled for long Watch different white pastors (oyibo) view on tithe in YouTube.... you will shocked .. these are the people that brought the gospel to black man..... they entirely condemned tithe....quoting many bible passages... Why are Pastors turning and bible up side down to suit themselves.... We have billionaire pastors and millions of youths are unemployed.. . Rather than create employment, they will be living flamboyant lifestyle. .. I repeat, God blessing is at God's discretion to bless whosoever involved or not to bless the person. The richest men in the world today ....how many tithe did they pay? I mean like the first 10 richest people in the world...? Riches get level oò...not all these poor people claimmg such people in Africa. You can support the church via goodwill donation, offering, pledges, gifts. ...as far it is not "imposed" on you but you just so that willingly and nobody threaten you that if you don't do that you are robbing God and playing on your intelligence... is ok. But to say you MUST pay your tithe to gain financial freedom is very unscriptural please. Even some Pastors are confused when it comes to tithe. ..am sincere... read your bible again and again to see how many places tithe was mentioned and the read it with open "mind " not a bias mind.! |

The analogy does not fit the debate, the setting aside every week was for a specific purpose, at a specific time. The little boy's lunch was not for God or pastors alone to consume but was shared and consumed among the people, do we share the tithes and offering among the people in church? Why are these pastors equating God with Church Inc? |
