The ANC government has been working very hard to improve the Ghettos as well. They deserve credit.

New Malls, Theaters, Numerous Public Transport Initiatives (ReaVaya, replacing all unroadworthy taxis with new ones etc). Paving all roads, even the ones that lead to your house, not just main roads, Side walks, street lights. Soweto even has bicycle lanes today, When ANC took over, Soweto was just a dusty township now there is clean water & electricity and all this new infrastructure. 1 Like 1 Share

I'm going to create a post 'South African Ghettos VS Nigeria' to squash the Idea that blacks in SA are riding on whites coattails. We should compare black areas in SA vs Black areas in Lagos. The mall I posted which was developed by Mr. Maponya (a black south african) s#!ts on every mall in Victoria Island. and VI is supposedly the 'Sandton' of Lagos. Lmao ... Then again, I'm not gonna waste my time coz Soweto would win on every front. Pictured here is public transport and an up maket mall in VI, you can do the comparison. 1 Like

LeSudAfricaine: I'm from Soweto. I don't like the perception that Soweto is far behind in terms of development because its mostly a black township. Soweto isn't even a slum, its 95% brick & mortar houses. There wer more slums before the world cup. I think the majority of the people need to work on their mindset. Many wait for the government to change their lives. There are so many opportunities but they don't see them. Instead foreigners are seizing those opportunities. Then there are 'black diamonds' who are climbing the corporate larder, many of them move to Sandton as soon as they are well off. I'm one of them, at the moment, I've got one foot in Sandton & another one in Soweto. The people need to work on themselves, stop blaming the government, whites, Pakistanis, Chinese, Somalis, Nigerians, Zimbabweans when they are the problem. |

Pidgin2:Do u ask yourself why few not many as u have exaggerated have naturalized? Of course reality continually run away from u Who are the categories of individuals who have naturalized? The Lebanese, Indians and a handful of Syrians. For your info, why many of them naturalize here is largely becos Nigeria is such a useless place with no regulations and as such these people can do as they like. These include tax evasion or tax related fraud, poor working conditions of staff, bribing of Immigration officials to get papers as well as capital flight due to transfer of hard currencies back to their home countries. Ask any Nigerian who has worked for these set of people and u wud hear harrowing experiences of slavish and exploitative working conditions Nigerians are subjected in their own country by foreigners. These people wud never do such in their advanced countries with strict regulations and where laws are strictly enforced. I have worked with Syrians and Indians though not Lebanese and we who have know exactly why these guys want to naturalize not for love of country. For them naturalizatuon is no big deal as long as they could retain the citizenship of their own country of birth. U claim to ve travelled abroad and u spew out rubbish. Maybe Benin Rep, Somalia, Yemen all na abroad. |
