A ZDF colleague saw our interaction and added another differentiator; I'll quote part of his email:
"Both the UPDF and the ZDF went into the DRC on opposite sides - in Uganda the spoils were distributed widely, in Zim only the chefs ate. We fought, died, and came home to ever-decreasing pensions whilst civilian Zanu chefs used our blood to fatten their bank accounts in South Africa, Britain, and other Commonwealth locales."
I am indifferent at the moment. I am not really up to speed about Zim

Come on Frum, you know those are very unique black people, the rest are watching the whole shebang from the windows.... I went ice skating 3 weeks ago for the first time in my life, just a few kilometers away from the Black Hawk you and GreenandGold kept talking about? Do you know what? White kids were skating like pros and let's not even talk about what I and the other darkies did.

grin

BTW, I'll be sharing the latest on Bob... I'm actually right, my assessment might hold water.
I fully understood what you were saying, man. That to which I was objecting was the essentialist argument that says "black people do this, white people do this". It's all bulldust, and the "jocular" stereotypes aren't that at all: they re-inforce rather than debunk.
A "black" girl taught me about the "European" sport of ski, meanwhile I taught her about the "African" martial art of capoeira.
Surely you see the irony and absurdity of assigning inherent "race" attributes in that?

I would caution against relying on media reports based on "sources" who have a vested interest and are pushing an agenda. On all sides.

This is my last communication on this issue.

Enlarged with massive recruitment for Boko Haram war 2014-2017, Nigerian armed forced now have salary bill of about $1.5 billion yearly as at 2018. In 2010-2015 the lower number of personnel had salary bills around $1 billion, but FGN defence budget was about $15 billion. It means $10 billion was available for new weapons and equipment procurement to Nigerian army, navy, air force 2010-2015. Please if you have photos of new weapons we bought for $10 billion kindly improve what you post on this thread, we keep seeing the same old weapons. Where is your $10 billion weapons? This thread needs the photos. Thanks.

Friday week sees the official start of the 2017 Exercise Oxide, a joint French-South African naval exercise.

Oxide this year will take place from November 24 to December 9 on and around the Indian Ocean island of La Reunion, a French territory. The lead force for the exercise is the French Armées de la Zone Sud de l’Océan Indien (FAZSOI), based on the island. The last Oxide was held off Richards Bay on South Africa's east coast in 2015.

The South African deployment for Oxide this comprises:
- the Valour Class frigate SAS Amatola (F145)
- a Super Lynx maritime helicopter embarked on it
- an AFB Waterkloof 28 Squadron C-130
- a C-47TP from35 Squadron, based at AFB Ysterplaat.
- an airborne platoon of 36 combat ready parachutists
- a SA Military Health Service (SAMHS) medical team embedded on the frigate.

The exercise is scenario-based and this year’s theme, identified by the lead nation is “fight against narcotics”.

This will see inter-operability exercised as well as plans developed between the Maritime Rescue Co-ordination Centre (MRCC) in Cape Town and the Maritime Rescue Sub-Regional Centre (MRSC) on La Reunion. Maintenance, promotion and building on operational as well as tactical co-operation between both forces are also high on the exercise agend

I've worked on 2 x Exercise Oxide. The 1 year I'm not working on it, it's held on La Reunion - which I've always wanted to visit. I'm currently assigned to one of the most boring "desks" for the remaining 4 out of 8 months! sad sad sad

Worst enemy of black people is not CIA, its the attitude of black people. Bad leadership, financial corruption, greed, incompetence and gross stupiidity at all levels. Go and see the oil rich South Sudanese (Whose independence AU fought for) running in millions back to same north Sudan we freed them from, fleeing black on black civil war! They call you ape, you too behave like gorilla. Most foolish race God created.

This means you had the largest weapons procurement budget in Africa. Either you are dreaming or trying to start another thread war, because those figures don't match what we know about your overall budget. The figures you mentioned is more then 50% of your annual Federal expenditure.

Personal expense is more than salary.

How much do you think it cost to feed 100000 people, what about manta cents on buildings, medicine all so costs money, then are the cost of manta certain to buildings, electrical bills extra extra. It all adds up.

Then you have cost of conducting operations, you need fuel, spare parts, ammo, spare uniforms, lots of small items like binoculars Witch a good pair costs 200usd and a mill spec costs 400usd, what about batteries to your radios. So I suggest you put more thought in.

There's plenty of fake news currently circulating, including a possible Zambian military intervention to aid Mugabe. As I said, fake news circulating.

My only real comment on this issue...

Some people on here said SANDF should have gone into Zim (less than 36 hours after the thing had started) to capture/kill the guy on the right, in order to save the guy on the left? Hmmm undecided. Do you not feel foolish?

Your fingers just couldn't help but try find anything negative to point out. At this point, how many SANDF, ZDF and Zimbabwean citizens would be dead....over these two smiling together? Was it impossible to just say let's wait & see...give it a week? Would even the mighty U.S Army enter a country on mass (where a suprise coup has occured) in under 36 hours?

But anyways...

Even during the coup in turkey, with US having a military base in the country everything was on hold.
