It doesn't distort our view of reality. It only put us in this "wishful thinking" state. But does it mean we don't know that what we read and watch is just fiction?

We do, and it doesn't mean we have this exaggerated expectations from love or men after reading or watching them.

Reality could never rival this simulated perfection, yet you have certain women using it as a gold standard for gauging their beauty. Yet this gold standard is pure fiction. They are trying to measure reality according to unreal standards.

You know, I agree with this. At a point when I was reading Harry Potter, I started living in a fantasy world thinking my family members were "muggles" and I was a witch or something and my letter from "Hogwarts" would arrive. Silly me.
