let's take a look at the following scenarios:

can a society reward a politician with chieftaincy title only to condemn a young man who gets inspired by such?

are you better in moral assessment than a thug who attacks when his rightful admission to study at a college was given to your unqualified self through a dubious and nepotistic process?

is your benefactor uncle who calls himself a contractor yet diverts money meant for road construction/maintenance thereby taking numerous lives better than an armed robber?

generally, no group of people hold the monopoly to sanctify and moral judgement, laws, religion, rules, norms, values ET all, are all subject to changes, what is right in Vegas is wrong in Tehran after all

in Nigeria, the difference between what is legally right or wrong only depends on who you are, who you know, who get caught, who the public supports and not by the actual act itself, our society continuously glorify Criminals today(as exemplified on social media). their urge to fight, beg to be heard, seen and noticed by the same people who pop champagne at clubs with their entitlements and destiny is terrifying

I am perhaps of the opinion that it is illegal to be legal in an illegal society. so here is my question.. will you join the corruption/dishonesty trend if your life depends on it??

If I see an opportunity to benefit from corruption in Nigeria, I will claim benefit immediately.

No need to wait for my life to depend on it

Dopejemi....I grew up watching my father reject contracts, bribes, etc from politicians or office holders which created loads of enemies for him and us...his kids, bcuz he was trying to do the right thing......at some point I was like "Papa" abeg stop politics if na only wahala e go create for you and us without any money attached to it...my Dad refused and almost had me disowned. After we had that conversation, it took 2 strokes plus old age to stop him from participating actively and causing more wahala for us by fighting corrupt politicians. Anyways,I no holy at all but I try to be fair with all my dealings in life however if I find myself in such position.....I most likely will go a different route from my dad.

funlord and those I am forgetting to mention, I really need your opinion on this

In a society like nigeria where illegality assists you in rising to the top and where there is a conscious effort by the states institutions to frustrate and curb the enthusiasm of anyone that tries to do what is right? Then I don't really blame any man/woman who feels they have to make that sacrifice in order to make ends meet.

I worked with INEC for 5 good years before I bounced back into the loving arms of the streets, that is an institution that is supposed to be the bastion of good democratic values that should help enshrine our democracy but guess what I found...that joint was just a cesspit of corruption, nepotism, mediocrity and malaise! Even before elections we were compromised by our bosses...any pro active ideas I tried to introduce to oga was shot down as long as it did not make pepper..illiterates were hired in different offices based on being from the department heads village or religious background...promotions were held back to deserving officers just because one metuselah did not want the promotions to send him into involuntary retirement as he was not done looting! Politicians opinions carried more weight than highly educated staff of the organization! So what do you expect a young fiery nigga like myself to do in such an environment?

Well I made a decision and became a lightning rod in my department...queries and disciplinary issues arose but I was too competent and good at achieving the aims of the ogas and their political homies so I was always protected and well renumerated! I built up my network and political contacts for a rainy day and when the time was right I bounced because some key allies had moved into politically sweet positions....that was my plan and it paid off! Nigeria's institutions are rotten to the core...ALL OF THEM! These same factors are prevalent in every sector of this nation! The kids and relatives of some of these illegal hustlers are richer than some local governments these are all benefits of their parents decisions to join the illegal lifestyle that naija promotes!

I have a 23 year old governors daughter schooling in the US that I sell $10k per week for on this very forum...Calculate how much naira I pay into her account every week! Could she have been able to afford that if her dad or mum had decided to remain on basic salary or pension for 35 years? There is a reason why they kill and destroy to access power in abuja...6 months in some positions can ensure you never have to work again! That's the way it is over HERE! As long as you don't kill, sell crack or commit armed robbery you will always be protected by the nigerian state even if you do! It's sad but I would advice that even if you have a small but productive business in this country you won't blow until you receive patronage from the illegal cabal! That's when you can start hustling the big jobs or companies! As for me my machievelian background ensures I'm always calculating my next move and protecting myself with secrets and loyalty! If I had remained abroad I would have been a straight arrow working my 9 to 5 and living decent because that is what a progressive society offers you but naija is the polar opposite! It is what it is but being broke is childish so I've made my own decision and I'm sticking with it till the grave...to each his own! 50 cent was right after all...get rich or.........

My brother you got it.

There is absolutely no incentive to be honest in Nigeria.

Behind every great Nigerian fortune, is a great crime...
