My friend told me of these head transplant for someone suffering from Muscular dystrophy I.e when ur body or muscles are wasting. Though it was not possible becos of the cervical spinal cord and any lesion leads to loss of movement. I am still amazed oh.

Thank God it was successful at least it is a growth in medical field. Thumbs up to the doctors who did these great feat. 18 hours inside surgery no be beans.

Notatribalist:
wrong info.first head transplant was done in south Africa in 2014..Google it.

My brother it was a copy and paste job.

Saw it online and thought of sharing on nairaland.

Was the one done in SA done on a human? Cos the first time it was tried was on a monkey.

It's stated in the article.
The monkey lived for 8more days before dying due to various complications.

But I believe that's how breakthroughs happen. Trial and error till you get it right.
That's my point for I'm confident the surgery will be perfected and mortality rates will be reduced mightily.

Have you read "The Repossession Mambo"?

Try get that book. It's a good read. Funny narrative but I think that's where man is headed. Look at the Chinese AIs and the other one named Sophia, man is really trying abeg.

We for Africa no send, na Lamborghini and Range Rover be our biggest target nothing more. We're here to enjoy all the luxuries, no time to brainstorm grin

Head transplant could mean longer life. cos it's the body that die. when given new body, ur life can be extended a bit.

Nice move. #ILOVESCIENCE

No one still understands what keeps us alive in totality.
Science continues to prove and show that our body is just a biological suit for Earth life....

Hence you see all those trans and other improvements done on differing body parts.

It's an ordinary container blood in it.
The main thing that makes us alive, the spark, the current that makes us conscious, no one knows fully what it is (Animals included)

Animals too are only putting on a suit. (This brings to mind the Buddhist fable of the great god who became a pig).....

Life is interesting and the mysteries makes it fun...

Just seeing this but really?

It has nothing to do with longer living. If you understand what happens to our bodies you'll understand why I'm saying this.

The only thing that can guarantee less sickness and make you healthy and younger is any consumable antioxidant.

For as far as I know oxidation is the only thing that makes our DNA mutates and produce sickly and killing diseases killing vital cells in the body.

Some people have capacities of reduced oxidation, people like myself, hehehehehe that's why I'm younger at my present age (see na lie o, I'm not sure I know why I seem and feel younger at this age o).... tongue
Not even after taking all I do take. But I don stop o. only two remain grin

But just know that this is not to prolong life but maybe to give people better body parts or the parts of their choosing. ( Not sure still but I'm confident it's never to prolong life)

No one can say specifically what makes us alive, we and animals (cockroach can stay without it's head for long and I've personally seen a fowl that did same, the idiot got hit by a bike and we thought it will die so we rushed it and cut of it's head but it ran off headless, it was long before we found it resting still without a head, that was where it died)

No one knows what makes us alive, where our consciousness comes from that's why the sweetest and most easy answer is, "God did it"

That question too hard abeg, make we face Buhari matter before we go add for the problem.
