Efewestern: Guy, go back through all my posts, before you jump to conclusions. My question on that thread was to ask if proper processses were followed before the Ijaw people decided to crown a monarch. Secondly, there were court judgements to validate the Bini claim. So what is your point? Efewestern: I have already replied your previous post. Go back and read my response. |

ChilledPill: Making blanket statement like this only proves ignorance and bigotry. I am yoruba, born and raised in Kaduna, however, I do not agree with the comment about IPOB and Kanu as nothing in the article suggested they made those comments. Lastly, how can lagos be no man's land when it belongs to all of us as Nigerians. Why are you people creating divisions where there are none. The older generation ruined Nigeria with corruption and tribal/religious intolerance and unfortunately, the victims (younger generation) have joined in the madness and are now subjecting each other to the same horrible treatment, when will this stop. 3 Likes |

Blackfyre:I didn't say I do not have the answer to your question. What I asked you to do, was to conduct independent studies and some research, in order to arrive at the answers, on your own. Any answer I give you, would still be queried by you. So why not seek enlightenment on your own? And your question was about the ancestry of kings that succeeded King Ado in Lagos. It was not about those who were the original land owners of Lagos. 2 Likes |

superstar1:In the palace of the Oba of Lagos, there is a Bini man who must be made a chief. That's the tradition. If the Oba and Anayo Bembe who is an illustrious son of Lagos and from a well known family says so with evidence to prove so,why are those who have no evidence counter his claim. He quoted what his grandfather also did and Azikiwe quoted what his grandma told him and yet you all are in doubt. There are tribes in Ghana, Togo and Benin that traced their roots to Benin but we don't gloat over it because those people have been liberated . If you don't know where you come from, how will you know where you are going. 3 Likes 2 Shares |

laudate: You clearly didn't read the post the other day, didn't you see were the State government and the oba were all saying they won't allow ijaw have their own king?. you talked calmly here, even providing proof, but you couldn't even see reason to support the ijaws that day, my point is that u are been sectional. For sure I know Edo has no business in Lagos, they just wanna be relevant. happy Sunday bro 3 Likes 1 Share |

helpishere: You are very funny. Binis never had the title of Oba until we took over the crown. The title of their kings before then was Ogiso. By virtue of that crown, whatever that crown owns is ours. Going further, the expedition of Ado met some people at isale eko and they conquered them. Mind you it was not the whole of Lagos. It was the present day Lagos Island. 1. On the original land owner basis, it is ours. 2. Based on ownership of Bini crown, where they conquered is still ours. 11 Likes 4 Shares |

Efewestern: Oga, go back and read through that entire thread, very carefully. Chieftaincy affairs and traditional titles are gazzetted by state govt, with support of the Chairman of Traditional Rulers Council, within the state. Even the staff of office is presented to newly crowned monarchs by either the state governor, his representative or Chairman of the Traditional Rulers Council. Did your Ijaw people in Edo go through the process of gazetting the title and following the process to get it ratified by the state? No. That was my question in that thread. They just woke up one morning and decided to crown a king for themselves, without recourse to proper law and order. A kingship that had not even been in existence for over 50 years. On top of that, the Bini had taken the matter up to Supreme court and won. So you expect the state govt to ignore the Supreme Court ruling and crown your Ijaw monarch? What is sectional about my stand on that? 5 Likes |

That's not true. The Binis only came to Lagos Island in a second wave migration. They met Yoruba's there who owned and were ruling the place like the Bajulaiye's, Onikoyi's and ko. They took over for a short while and were subsequently overthrown. Lagos is far bigger than Lagos island, which does not even include ikeja, Ikoyi, Lekki or Ikorodu 8 Likes 2 Shares |
