Did you read the entire story from the beginning? The person who started this controversy was Ajayi-Bembe, a Lagos Yoruba indigene. He is not an emissary of the Oba of Benin, neither was he sent on such a nefarious errand by the Oba!

I partly blame the internet. Its only because of cheap data, some Bini villager will sit in his thatched hut to claim land far removed from his village in the heartland of Yoruba kingdom. The same cheap data will make an Ipob pig in his 2 by 4 provision shop in the middle of potorpotor region saying Lagos is no man's land. It will be easier for 10 million camels and 100 million elephants to pass through the eye of a needle at the same time than for the ownership of a square inch of Lagos - the Jewel of Yoruba land- to be credibly questioned.
