FisifunKododada: Wyoming is a different state and they have private land ownership. That's an odd comparison. Corruption is everywhere. Africans are too rooted to their nonsensical past to see the potential of their future. Traditional, undocumented land ownership is a recipe for chaos and unnecessary disputes. Make it clear who owns the land on paper - whether it is held on trust or by an individual. Land being held on say so is stupid. Especially within a sovereign country, which Nigeria is and which these tribes are not. |

mmsen: Yet Wyoming will not allow California to lay claim of its land. So why should a Nigerian tribe allow another tribe to claim its land? Corruption is everywhere but its more devastating to a country that is already MOSTLY poor. Chinese, Europeans and Americans are all rooted in their past. Its not an African issue alone and its definitely not the problem. Every tribe in Nigeria knows the extent of their territory. Its only the trouble makers that enjoy yearning dust about land ownership. 1 Like |

Your expedition towards the west marked your death knelt At Ore alone, ibo lost over 50 men in one single day and more than 750,000 in your misadventure. We will always beat you anytime you carry your madness pass Igbo land. That was the only time you ventured out and that was the only time you suffered the heaviest lost. Against the background of claims by former Works Minister, Chief Femi Okunnu, that he shares a Benin ancestry, former Minister of State for Defence and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stalwart in Lagos State, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro wednesday denied that his progenitor was from Bini kingdom of Edo State. Obanikoro, a strong aspirant on the platform for the PDP in the last governorship election in Lagos State said rather than the mis-information, the legendary Obanikoro family in Lagos hails from Awori – Idiluwo-Ile in Ojo local government area of the state. The renowned Lagos politician was caretaker committee chairman, Surulere local government, substantive chairman, Lagos Island local government, former commissioner and senator that represented Lagos Central senatorial district and later he was appointed as minister during the president Goodluck Jonathan era. Koro, as he is usually called, contended that the narratives of the eminent Lagosian, Chief Okunnu, that Obanikoro was from Benin was wrong, stressing that while he personally had a link with Benin through his paternal great grand mother, who he said hailed from Eletu-Odibo family, “the first Obanikoro was not from Benin.” According to him, “Chief Okunnu said Obanikoro was from Benin. We are not from Benin. We are from Aworiland. We are from Idiluwo-Ile in Ojo local government. Personally, I have Bini blood. My paternal great grand mother was from Eletu-Odibo family. Eletu-Odibo came with the Oba of Benin to Lagos. She was the daughter of Ogabi Eletu-Odibo. But, Obanikoro was not a Bini man. He was an Awori.” He noted that “the descendants of Chief Obanikoro, among who are Ajayi-Bembe, Ogunlana Arewa, Abisawo Otun, Osadeko, Aregbe and Oyerokun, were conscious of their Awori root.” 2 Likes 2 Shares |

This evil ipob pigs always look for trouble whereever they go. I hope this nonsense statements doing the rounds is nipped in its bud before it festers. The Lagos state Government must begin a thorough process of putting things in perspective and checkmate the evil plot of this wicked ipob igbo useless people. The Lagos senate must effectively restrict igbo on Lagos and restrict their wuruwuru businesses drug and kidnapping. We must not let them get away with this one without repercussions. Enough is enough for this useless afopinas. 1 Like |

sophoccles:You give me solid reason to believe that Lagos belongs to the Aworis. And from all indication, the Aworis are more of Yoruba to me than Bini. Because, it doesnt just blend. how come Yoruba is the dominant language in Lagos, and not Bini? Your analogy to Romans and Britanica is perfect. However, what about Badagry people? Are they Yorubas, or a different ethnic group? |

Lagos Island is just about 7% of Lagos landscape yet you see the Islanders claiming ownership of Lagos State. Lagos colony is different from Lagos State. Is Ikeja where we have the State capital ever part of Lagos colony? Bini Kingdom accepted the fact that they were from Ile-Ife, but Islanders because of ignorance will claim they are not Yoruba. Is like a grandchild disown his grandfather when his own father accept and confirms his root. I am from Ikorodu part of Lagos and I understood the meaning of Iga-Iduganran, idumota, idumagbo and the rest because they are part of Ijebu Language of the Remos' who were from Ile-Ife. Lagos don't have resemblance of Bini culture more than the Ijebus' and Remos'. Even the Eyo that is being celebrated as their only traditional festival was from Ijebu. If you read the history of Bini, The Emotan and Prince Ogun then you will clearly understand the link between, Bini, Ijebu and Ile-Ife. Lagos has five Divisions Ikorodu, Badagry, Epe, Eko, and Ikeja. Ikorodu and Epe are predominantly Ijebu, Badagry and Ikeja are predominantly Awori followed by Eguns (part of Badagry). Eko occupied by Ijebu and Bini. Eletu Iwase, Eletu Odibo. Erelu, Olumegbon, Onisiwo, Onikoyi, Ologun Atebo, are all titles of High Chiefs in Lagos Island. The meaning of their titles, their historical background can all be traced to Ijebu, Bini, Ikoyi-ile. All rooted historical to Ile-Ife the ancestral home of the Yorubas. 5 Likes 1 Share |
