Good day guys.. pls i need your advice/opinion/help The school (TEXAS A&M, Kingsville) i applied to for my masters said what's delaying my admission is my TRANSCRIPT. They said they don't can't evaluate my transcript because they don't have the school i finished from (LANDMARK UNIVERSITY) in their database. They said they would keep trying but if they cant do it, that the last option will be to pay some fees so they can use the general evaluation board (WES). Now these are my thoughts on what to do next. 1. I was thinking since landmark uni and covenant uni are owned by the same person, would it be possible to inform the school so that they can use Covenant uni to evaluate the transcript... would they even agree to this? 2. I read about how some people had to send their transcript from their school to WES and how WES sends it back for verification and am scared of having any issues cuz most peeps tend to have issues between sending and recieving from WES... So i was thinking since TAKUM brought up the idea of using WES and paying some fees, then i can jst pay the fees to TAKUM to handle everything instead of my school handling it Lastly, the main issue here is Funds and Time. I want it done as quickly as possible but also trying to minimise funds because i am being sponsored., so i don't want to put pressure on my sponsor. So pls, what do u advice or has anyone been in my shoes before? |

AlterEnigma: 1) Well I am not sure how this would work. Such request is out of the ordinary. Even if it would, it would involve a very long administrative process and money. 2) This option is your best and easier bet now. Are you applying for Spring 2018 (I guess not) or Fall 2018 (probably)? If for fall 2018, then you still have time to run your WES evaluation, which usually takes about 4 to 8 weeks to complete, depending on your school and how proactive you are about the process. How fast your WES evaluation goes partially depends on how fast or proactive you are about the process. You can fast track it if you stay on it. For example, after you pay the evaluation fee online and receive your WES reference number, you go to your exams and records office (or call if you have someone there) to see how they can fast track it for you. While you are on that, you can scan and email your certificate to someone in the US to mail to WES office for you (takes about 3 to 5 business days since it is within the US, at no cost to you). Once WES receives the transcript and certificate/statement of result, they send both back to your university for verification usually by mail and email (if your school lists an email on your transcript, also which every university should have nowadays anyway). Verification by email is usually faster. Also at this point you have to be on it, checking with your registrar's office to see if they've received the email and getting them to respond as fast as they can. Once WES receives the verification, WES needs about 1 more week to do the evaluation. The fastest WES evaluation I have seen took 3 weeks only. Yes 3 weeks (with UNN), because applying for transcript is automated and online, I know people that work in the exams and records office and also the person in charge of verification requests, hence everything went very very fast. WES will not take time, if you stay on it and make the right/necessary contacts/moves. 4 Likes 2 Shares |

bigfrancis21: Thanks very much for these. I just spoke with the school 1. The first option isnt possible 2. They said they don't accept WES, that they will send me a list of agencies they accept. |

AlterEnigma: Never heard of Landmark but then again i not heard of many unis ...... check with other alumni and see what schools they applied to and maybe your target those schools ...alternatively find other schools that will accept your school As for no 1 . Evaluating based on covenant university . It doesnt work like that and i doubt if any school will agree to that . My suggestion is for you to find a school that works for you. If that one is not working then you might end up waiting for months with no resolution . Time is money |

AlterEnigma: 2) If that's the case, probably better for you. Several other evaluation agencies do not perform verification. So once they receive your documents, they translate right away, which saves a lot of time for you. However, their GPA after conversion may not be as favourable as that of WES. |

Xabibarbie63: 400 usd will signify that you cannot afford to pay the school fees so not a good idea . But how do you intend to pay for this school?. You need to have a plan so you dont fall out of status |

Xabibarbie63: You obviously cannot afford the cost of education in the United States, so why bother? There are better things in life than being illegal here. Americans are not Nigerians, if the school has asked to see a bank statement showing a minimum of $23000, a bank balance showing $22999 as bank balance is not accepted. 4 Likes |

Xabibarbie63: Well, Bowie State University (BSU) needs to see a bank statement of at least $23,000 to give you admission. You have to submit it together with your application for admission. For UMD, it is a more expensive school. They need to see at least $40,000, depending on the program. For UMD, your financial statement comes much later - after you have been given admission, then ISSS will email you to upload your financial supporting documents. Even if you do find a rich relative/person to give you their bank statement just so that you get admission, I20 and your visa, if you would still be footing most of your bills yourself, I would not recommend UMD as an option. About $9,000 per semester at UMD is not easy to afford. With BSU, it could work out for you if you bring up your savings to at least $5,000. At about $6k+ of tuition per semester at BSU and with your at least $5000 of savings and sheer determination, things could work out for you. They will not be easy in the beginning but if you are determined, you would survive. Setting up a payment plan for your tuition payment (about $2k in 3 payments) could help to spread the payment over the semester, giving you time to come up with a balance, while an on-campus job at 20 hours per week could help to cover your living expenses (if you find a very affordable place or decide to share a room with someone, which even lowers the cost). Getting a GA on campus also helps and it is the ultimate option most graduate students seek. Feel free to email me. And finally, showing your bank statement of $4,000 will not work for both schools. 7 Likes 1 Share |

styrese: Once you do not change DS160s (I mean with a new DS160 number to update on your visa appointment profile page) at least 3 days to your interview date and it is still the same one you started filling out when you booked your visa date you should be fine. You could submit it a day or two before your interview. Some people choose to take their time to fill out their DS160 to ensure they get in the right information. Goodluck 1 Like |

Ljason:Pay for sevis where? Cotonou? Its not worth it.By the way if you dont now, SEVIS fee cant be paid in Nigeria. You can only pay abroad and the nearest abroad to Nigeria is Cotonou. Look for someone abroad (preferably US) that you can send the money to through western union or someone that needs naira. |
