KDB arrived here as YPOTY in Germany, rated higher than the likes of Draxler, Kroos, Gotze, Alaba etc. He arrived a top footballer and left a top footballer. He started 2 EPL games for Chelsea only of which he was MOTM in one, the other a good performance in a creditable draw away at Manure. 2.) The club pursued Emenalo policy of buying too many £20m+ wingers. A manager is immediately under pressure to protect such assets and justify the club purchase of those players. There were 6 wingers/AMs competing for 3 positions. Whether you like it or not, your price tage determines the consideration you are given in such scenario. Now consider that Hazard is already locked in and Oscar is already locked in because of the political play with Mata. That leaves 4 players competing for 1 position (Mata, Willian, Schurrle and KDB), of which JM has to keep the fans onside by giving some minutes to club legend Mata even if he doesn't want to start him

3.) The final reason was partly political and partly tactical. The club had pursued a policy of understaffing the midfield due to Emenalos favouritism of Mikel and Ramires. In such a situation, JMs 3rd AM had to be Willian so that his workrate can help balance a midfield unfit for purpose.
