Wonderful and good job. Yes Seyi isn't a defender but your only brother here has suggested we try him at Left back. Afterall Ashley Young and Valencia were forward players turned defenders. Where is the mercurial Raheem Lawal in your team, what about Kayode as well. If Echejile playing in Turkey can make the team why not Aneke and you completely bewildered me by leaving out one of the best Nigeria born midfielders in recent times, Ryan Sanusi. Why is Musa competing with Ajagun?? Ajagun that plays regularly for Musa, Musa who is a forward and hasn't even featured for ordinary Leicester in a while, haba. You didn't include Iorfa too, it won't take long to get him to switch for Nigeria.

Bobo Edom as a fine player yes, but Eddy Dombraye oh my God!!!!!!!!! part of the terrible players who made Nigeria 99 a nightmare for us all.

The only guys who were up to scratch in that team made good progress in my career; Rabiu Afolabi, Yobo, Aghahowa and Pius Ikedia.

And we haven't done badly with the quality of guys from our youth teams recently; Omeruo, Onazi, Aziz, Kayode, Iheanacho, Osimhen, Nwakali brothers, Success, Awoniyi, Alampasu, Uzoho, Orji Okonkwo, not bad at all.

What is bad is that we haven't been able to qualify for the recent age-group competitions that's why the NFF needs to step up.

The operative word I would use is not too badly.

However, we have not done good. Outside of KC none of these players have achieved any top class succes. If you were to compare them to the SE teams of the 1990's and early millennium and where that majority of them played. We are actually failing.

When we play age grade competitions we win or are runners up with a whole collection of awards and accolades at this stage we are world class. These accolades afterwards do not translate commensurate with the achievements. After a few years we become very far from top leagues level. WHY

Chrisantus, Sani Emmanuel, Rabui, etc did not progress commensurate with thier youth accolades.

These boys by now should be making waves but they are struggling to makes little ripples.

Even the KC who is the most prominent has started to fall away at Leicester city. I'm not sure what the stats are but he has not scored an EPL goal in 14 games that is very poor for any striker irrespective of the league.

Yobo was very far from impressive in 1999 but improved immensely over the years.

I have already modified my post.

My friend, if I want Raheem Lawal then Jonh Ogu must go out because I know Raheem Lawal is more versatile than him. And if I want Kayode then Martins must go out but I think Martins is better than him. If I want Agajun then Sone Aluko must drop but Sone Aluko is a better quality than him.

However, my point is, a coach must have ready made options to replace injured players.

Waoh so now Ajagun has been finally dropped. Only 23 guys can make the team sha. Since Lawal is so versatile we mustn't sacrifice performance for sentiments, somebody must be dropped for him.

Okay I've come with something so far:

Let's rate them based on their club careers alone within this current season.
We need to have a standard. This is a suggested one:

5 goals in Grade3 == 3 goals in Grade2 == 1 Goals in Grade1
Same as assists
Same as clean sheets (GK)
1 match-day squad appearance (GRADE1) == 1 assist (GRADE2) == 1 goal scored (GRADE 3)
1 clean sheet (GRADE1) == 1 Goal (GRADE1) and it follow accordingly

GRADE 1 (1ST TIER)
Germany
England
France
Italy
Spain

GRADE 2 (1st tier)
Russia
Portugal
Ukraine
Belgium
Turkey
Austria
Netherlands
Czech
Greece

GRADE 3
MLS
Germany (2nd tier)
England (2nd tier)
France (2nd tier)
Italy (2nd tier)
Spain (2nd tier)
Other 1st tiers

OK, let me rejig.

1. Uzoho

2. Orji

3. Bonaventure

4. Kelechi Nwakali

5. Chidera Ejuke.

After reading a lot of pages here and also a long and hard thought. I have come to the conclusion that these players should be the ones to go t the world cup.
Goal Keepers
Vincent Enyeama
Dele Aiyenugba
Dele Alampasu
Defenders
Ola Aina
Seyi Ojo
Dominic Iorfa
Efe Ambrose
Thiago Ilori
Mosis Odubanjo
Midfield
Hope Akpan
Jude Aneke
Raheem Lawal
Abdul Ajagun
Mikel Obi
Joel Obi
Josh Onomah
Ryan Sanusi
Attackers
Obafemi Martins
Ike Uche
Fred Onyedinma
Kayode
Sone Aluko and
Adegbenro

Standby
Ovie Ejaria
Chuba Akpom

If we can present this guys who are the best leagues imagine what we will achieve. There's still time to get them to blend together, right now these are the best we have as we can only take 23 players to the world cup.

The staring eleven should look like this
Enyeama
Ola Aina Thiago Ilori Efe Ambrose Sheyi Ojo
Abdul Ajagun Josh Onomah Raheem Lawal
Kayode Martins Ik Uche

Mikel will be coming in as an impact sub and that would really tilt the games in our favor. Also there is Jude Aneke, Adegbenro and Joel Obi too who can come in from the bench.

I had to unfortunately drop Onazi, Ndidi and even Victor Mosis, even though they are very good players who the stats for Aneke, Raheem Lawal, Abdul Ajagun and Onoha are extremely difficult to ignore. You need to see how Kayode won the best player in Austria and how great a game Fred Onyedima had against Man City that's why I had to drop Victor Mosis.
Go Nigeria!!!!!!!!!

Why you? Why you? gotta do like that??

Never heard of Ryan Sanusi please tell me more. Any accolades in that league MOTM awards, etc why is he stand out player.

With regards to Seyi Ojo he has always had pace, he is robust I.e. physically strong, good technique and is left footed. Left MK Dons at 14 yrs old crazy but true, for £1.8 million. He plays as a left winger or left side of midfield. Can he play wing back yes he can it's not a huge ask it's just a change of emphasis. Chances are limited at Liverpool with Sallah and Mane some of the fastest wingers in the world.

Will he play for Nigeria yes he will, can we get official confirmation not from me, I'm not mandated to do that.

Aneke is a stand out player in League one if he really wanted to go to the Championship for certain he would be there. He chose MK Dons former club of Dele Alli and Seyi because they play on the deck quality football.

Iorfa will play for Nigeria he has very good pace and is versatile playing as a CB and RB. technical he not really up to the standard I would like. Everything else yes particularly airial dominance.

I do not think he is completely sold on Kayode.

We can't say... Same thing on Henry too.. I think he has a philosophy we fans don't understand.. My thinking though..

First he played ebuechi to him he didn't perform to his expectations and now against Argentina he blew everyone away... Whereas we fans shouted he was not sold on ebuechi...

Let him give ‘them' some playing time and see what will happened... My opinion... Or he might be looking for a particular trait and if he's not getting it in his current players he will keep searching or else the players change to his style of play

From the Spanish team that played the final in Nigeria 99 how many became world beaters apart from Xavi and Casillas? What of the German u17 team that produced Kroos, how many have become established stars?
Just you wait let's see how many out of England's u17 and u20 winning team members go on to become established stars.
My point is it is not peculiar to Nigeria.

As for Seyi Ojo, Aneke and Iorfa Forgiveness has implied that they aren't good enough.

Please forgiveness come and explain your thoughts and reasons for doing that.

If I know your strength lies in your right leg and I clip it what would you do? Take note that in France 98 Denmark studied us and realised that our strength is in the wings. They shut down Finidi on the right and Garba Lawal on the left and it was game over- our wings were clipped. Mind you we had built our attack around wing play right from the days of Westerhof.
So note that our strength can be our undoing.

That's why I suggested other plans to get things going for us... Could remember 2002 Nations cup against CmR.. They outplayed us... But we do backed on set pieces esp free kick of Jay Jay... And the rest is a story..

First let work on diligently on our strength
Second let have another atleast 3 game plans
Third... As “ they " are looking for our weaknesses we re looking for theirs too..

Remember some monikers giving some examples of us scoring from left side of the play.. Even Vic Moses Will also add alot to it too..

I'm sure you read FiFa technical study group about amunike under 17.. 2015 about how they are unable to decipher the style of play is the team... Cos the coach keep changing style of play every match...

Remember team can't keep working or looking for weakness of his opponent without taken care of hers...

No complete team... Or lemme say no 100 percent balanced team..

Remember this team is not there yet.. Still work in progress...

When did Ebuehi not perform to expectation?? The Corsica friendly that no one watched? Or is it the fake penalty, that was awarded?

Kayode's invitation was as a result of injury not because he was initially invited. Except for one time, Ebuehi has always been invited even when he does not play.

I hope this Akpoguma is quality cos this one wey he can't make even the fourth German squad so. Someone here has hammered on the bolded. It's this guy that I doubt his post WC commitment to the Gwg if he makes it to Russia. Owngoalnigeria.com as usual. You guys know the drill.

GERMAN JOURNALIST – WHY GERMANY DON'T NEED ROHR’S TARGET AKPOGUMA
German journalist Roland Mark has taken a swipe at Hoffenheim defender Kevin Akpoguma who turning down the chance to switch allegiance to Nigeria and possibly go to the World Cup in Russia next year .
According to coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr talks are supposed to be held with the 22 year old soon as he views him as a player who can improve the defence of the team.
Mark who covers the Bundesliga however disagrees with Akpoguma’s stand regarding his reasons for snubbing Nigeria is because he feels he stands a chance to play for Germany.
It’s scary how some players think they can have a future at a team that doesn’t even know if they exist at all. I think Akpoguma is trying to get Germany to notice him by turning down Nigeria" Mark told Owngoalnigeria.com.
” This is the first time he is having a taste of the Bundesliga, and he is already 22. In the Germany national team there are about 8 players ahead of him, and a further 7 waiting in the wings. Among them he is by far the oldest among all and the least rated.
” If not for injuries he wouldn’t have been in the team of Hoffeinheim. Credit to him he has taken the chance to make an impression but in just few games, and one of the games was the one Rohr watched.
” He has to reconsider and play for Nigeria, that is his surest way of going to the World Cup. He need to take a cue from Leon Balogun who is now considered by some in Germany as one who got away from them, thanks to his display for Nigeria “.

That might imply many things but it certainly doesn't imply a threat to bolt if he isn't in the World Cup squad. The dude has been in and out of the team since he switched his allegiance but he still hasn't bolted yet. The only thing that may make him switch, assuming we don't cap him by then, is if Rohr's contract isn't renewed after World Cup.

That's the problem we didn't watch the match... And penalty was awarded cos of him...

Let juxtapose something
First Remember how Agu came to play.. With some mistakes he used it against CMR first leg, and second leg again... Then finally against Zambia whereas Ogu was on bench...

Definitely Ogu was performing very in training but he never get looked but prefer someone with "trait" he prefer to keep getting a playing time...

Until injury set in.. Ogu chance came in and he was spectacular...

Now to ebuechi ,he was performing well in training, he was given a chance then let assume now it seems doesn't like what he saw he dropped him... If you can remember he was also in standby team when Aina was invited... He was sold on him he won't push him to stand by .

Same things happen to Henry and Larrykay... They don't have what he want and maybe there is a need for them to change their style of play to suit the coach...

Agbo too thesame..
We just need to see this player with playing time...

Remember he didn't blink twice before throwing in Aina... Two consecutively...
