Mujtahida: @Your first paragraph, that's just it... Are these foreign born players ready to commit to the super eagles after the world cup?? Will they honour invitations for AFCON qualifiers and friendlies? Or are they trying to do a Kevin Prince Boateng on us?? 3 Likes |

Taliban: I just love this thread. No name callings. Everyone is pure at heart. Football is the common goal. Meanwhile, I just watched Okocha's testimonial match and the guy was doing wonders. Methink we look in his direction to fortify the midfield. He can come in for Mikel at least in matches that we are leading 5:0 at the world cup. 5 Likes |

tbaba1234: But two people have perpetually been on a lot of people's nerves to be honest!!!!!. I just had some time on my hands today. At least we can confirm that one of them has dropped the mercurial Ajagun from the world cup squad and even Raheem Lawal, Ryan Sanusi and Dominic Iorfa too. We can hopefully have some more discourse apart from certain players. 6 Likes |

Danielnino00:I have doubts about this guy ooo. We have to be careful. Not that he'd come and take the place of Omeruo for example and after the show is over he'd say bye bye to us. No ooo. Let him better stay in his German one corner. I don't know the gist about Boateng oo. He went to the world cup in Brazil as a member of Ghana's squad. 2 Likes |

soetanoreoluwa: We saw the highlights... That was never a penalty. There was no indication that he did not play well otherwise. You make some valid points. One of the reasons, i believe we have not seen Ebuehi before is the form of Shehu and the nature of Gernot Rohr. Rohr does not just make changes, his changes are very gradual. Aina was only introduced when Elderson got injured. He started against Algeria when Elderson was out. Now, Aina has been given a chance to make a case for himself on the left. Ebuehi has also been given a chance to make his case on the right. We will see more of them in friendlies. Esiti was invited against Zambia and played for a few minutes. The coach has not invited him again. He appears to have made the decision that he is not the kind of player, he wants. You have to be ready to gradually win your place in the team and show that you are better than what is available when you get the chance. 6 Likes |

Mujtahida:at the end of the day, they will only feature 11 players at a time, just like the French team. having to many players confusion,it's better u have just 14 very good players than to have 50 good players at the same time, because it will lead to too many changes of players at any slight mistake. |

tbaba1234:Against Corsica Ebuehi handled the ball in the box and a penalty was awarded. That was how Corsica scored their first goal. I read on Twitter(one of this NFF guys, can't remember who now) that the reason why Ebuehi had not played since was because he was educated the Dutch way which places less emphasis on physicality and that he was still getting used to African football. 1 Like |

Mujtahida: How many times did vicmo start at the left wing to label him the designated LWB? Even in the few games vicmo started as a left winger or wing back he was more efficient than Simon ever was. Yes we scored more goals through the RW, did u notice that most of those goals scored through the right wing almost has Victor Moses written over them. When Simon comes to the right our attack swings to the left in search of vicmo or a few times Iwobi. The few goals we scored via the left wing were largely shared between Iwobi and Vicmo, starting from the game against Zambia. Our first goal against Zambia in Ndola came from iwobi via the left wing, second came through the middle and Simon was on the right Dat day without any effective cross neither did he register any shot on target. Algeria first leg, first goal came through the left when vicmo switched from the right to the left where mandi was the major culprit. D second goal came through the middle by Mikel before vicmo completed his brace. Simon didn't play this match though. Cameroun in uyo ; Simon started on the right and vicmo on the left. D first goal came from the middle via mikel, d second goal was a corner with ighalo and mikel at d center of it again (remember the dummy from ighalo), the third goal has vicmo written all over it bkus he skinned a Cameroonian, ran with d ball before laying a pass to Simon whose only contribution was to square d ball back to the orchestrator (vicmo) to riffle in. The fourth goal came through the right via Onazi instead of Simon who started from the right wing that evening. Cameroun in Yaounde ; the raw materials for our only goal were sourced and processed on the right. Via ighalo, the ball went to the right for Simon to finish off. Against Algeria in Constantine we all saw how impotent we were until Simon was subbed off for Iwobi to change the game and send us to Russia. I'm summary, Simon ain't a goal threat and whenever he is on the pitch, that edge (side) of our attack automatically becomes blunt. When he starts from the right, we don't score through the right until he switches with vicmo and vice versa. Whenever Simon plays, Vicmo is always the only attacking outlet we have on the wings (both right and left). It is either vicmo switches to produce something from Simon's wing (right or left), and back to his primary wing to continue from where he left off, or we focus on the middle every game because dude (simon) is so ineffectual going forward. Imagine throughout the qualifiers, Simon contributed only two goals(a goal and an aasist), which were even served to him on a platter while vicmo who had less minutes contributed more. Play Onyekuru who is equally an attacking outlet(a goal threat) like vicmo from either of the wings, especially, the left wing to ease the burden of goal-getting on vicmo and u will see us firing on all fronts abi cylinders. That said, Echiejile also hasn't been helping matters. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Mujtahida: It was not a penalty... It was an incredibly soft call.. His hands were by his sides, almost at his back. The ball met his hand. He did not handle the ball https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-BjqqIUpXhM Anyway, Learning African football could also be a reason. 5 Likes |

Mujtahida: The Argentines tried attacking from the left, and when they couldn't seem to get past Brian, they switch to Ebuehi, he wasn't giving them free passage as well. When they were dispossessed, we start from the right, so I can understand if Idowu wasn't much of an attacking threat. Hopefully, we'd see more of him, then make a final judgement. 2 Likes |

Mujtahida: There are two distinct and seperate issues here First, the comparison of the current set of SE players with pre- millennium teams that had players playing in the creme de La creme of the top clubs in Europe. The second issue is progression. Most of our boys are playing in the backwaters of Europe and are not stand out players in thier leagues. You have completely changed the goal post . The question is not best players in the world which arguably Casillas and Xavi could be described as. But progression to playing regularly in the the top leagues and top teams in Europe and or the world. The Spanish players have an overwhelming majority who play in La Liga and top teams. For instance Omeruo is playing in the back yard of Europe in Turkey. His peers are Neymar and Coutinho who didn't win anything at U17 level when they played in Nigeria. Let's look at the German team of 2009 that produced the Barcelona goalkeeper Marc Andre , Mario Gotz, Mustafi (Arsenal) over 75% of them have played in the Bundesliga and over 50 currently play in the Bundesliga. That is progression. Consider the entire 2009 team how many are playing regular top flight football in a top 5 league in Europe. Why are we not progressing I remember all the accolades Rabui Ibrahim had. He was classed as one of the 10 best teenage footballers in the world. where is he now This means there is a disconnect in our youth progression beyond the youth or age grade competition football. Mujtahida: Prior to the 2010 WC,he and his brother Jerome were waiting for Germany call up.. but Germany picked his brother over him so he accepted Ghana invitation... After that world cup he retired...and then came out of retirement after Ghana qualified for the 2014 world cup... He was among the players that got into a fight with their coach in Brazil and he was sacked from the team(sort of). The guy never participated in any AFCON qualifier or tournament. He was more interested in shining at the world biggest sport tournament.. I don't want these foreign born players to give us that kind of treatment.... ***Modified** 5 Likes 1 Share |

Yes, Victor Moses and Simon usually switch positions during matches. This can also confuse the opponent. Yes Iwobi is good with both feet as well. MetalJigsaw: |

Mujtahida: When was the last time morroco qualified for the world cup? I believe, you were the one who posted the list of players that qualified them for this WC, showing all of them as foreign born/groomed. As long as we're only going for the quality ones, then no problem. I'm just scared of the outcry from the sentimental lots. However, we in our magnitude would reply them asking them to show us the achievements of the local players. 1 Like |

MetalJigsaw:Yes. There is also a possibility that buhari might ban us from participating in all sporting events in 2018, or Mikel might decide he's tired of playing football and retire. There is also a possibility that Rohr might receive a higher paying job with another country and dump us, Or Balogun withdrawing from the world Cup to protest putin's hostility towards America. But you don't see us worrying about those, do you? 8 Likes 1 Share |
