I really hope that Rohr stays with us beyond 2018, it is obvious that we would have a formidable team of every eligible Nigerian from any part of the world. Thanks for the pics tbaba. 4 Likes |

Mujtahida: I do not buy the left side bias one bit. We score mainly from counters, let me ask you, if you are trying to generate a high-speed counter and you have Iwobi/Simon on the left side will you even consider them, knowing well enough that Iwobi has the pace but he isn't fast while Simon Moses is an average player who will slow the game down and spoil the counter, that is how it works. The day we get a Marcelo or Coman our attacks will start from the left, I do not think it is a weakness and I dont think teams can counter it either, just like saying a team will counter a counter attack, that is why it is called a counter attack, we are countering your attack because all your players are out of position. About Ebuehi, how many games has he played at LB for his club? |

soetanoreoluwa: Every player we invite must not be for the future, we have players for the here and now and we should utilise everyone in their peak instead of assuming that they are good now but they'd go bad by next two years so let's not call them. Unlike forgiveness I won't hold bet my house on these guys making the team better or even getting invited, just that we have vacancies and it wouldn't kill anyone if they are tried again 1 Like 1 Share |

TheGoodJoe: he had a fainting spell, like he passed out two or three times continously and he was left in the dressing room. On the pitch your mind will still go to that player who was left in the dressing room not knowing if the stuff got real |

tbaba1234: I totally disagree. The Argentines did not find it hard breaking us down still, they had more shots than we did in the first and second half separately so they still had some joy in the second half but when you don't have an Aguero, Higuain, Messi or Dybala close to your opponents box, your scoring possibilities reduces to a minimum. Dybala on his part was trying to do what Messi does, creating from the middle, he failed to understand that he isn't Messi and he should just stick upfront and wait for DiMaria to bring the ball after Aguero left, but I am not here to point out how the Argentines could have done better. Meanwhile there was no tactical switch or should I say that it had less effect on the game compared to the change in personnel. You can see that the formation was not a bad one, just square pegs in round holes and immediately the right guys were brought in the game changed |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by tbaba1234: 7:06am On Nov 22, 2017 |
Mickael2: There was a tactical switch.. And i am not just saying it. Leon Balogun talked about it after the match.. “In the first half, they played every ball into the space we offered them but in the second half, we were able to keep the space tight and that’s how we recovered a lot of balls and buildup those deadly counter-attacks. I think that’s what made us win" They decided to play more compact after half time and hit on the counter. The Argentinians were creating nothing in the second half. Uzoho had only one save to make. They struggled to even create anything before the goal but we were defending differently in the second half. The change in the second half dynamics was mentioned by Sampaoli “The momentum swung in their favour in the second half after they scored three goals in nine minutes from long range shots,” Di Maria “What a match. We started well, successfully held them in the early stages of the game, but the goal scored by Nigeria before the half time break was the turning point.“We were physically outplayed by a very strong opponent, and we calmed down a bit, and we paid for it. It’s good that this is not the World Cup yet. We will slowly sort things out.” You should be happy with the team's second half performance because from your previous statements, you did not even think that they were capable. 5 Likes |

Mickael2:You assume that was the case, but if you watch that game carefully, the Argentine team started the second half the way they started the first, they also continued with the pressing and had the better chances. The major difference on the night was Rohr's switch of our wing back personnels. This made all the difference and not the so called psychological trauma from the Aguero comatose. 3 Likes |

This sheepee attitude is getting annoying meen. Some people are turning this thread to a joke. Attack opinions and not personality. If you think someone or a point is off point, tackle it with a better point and not resort to gangup or stereotyping. It's better we don't give room for anyone to stereotype another in order not to kill the beauty in diversity of opinions. Forgiveness, you self need to tone down on your "nagging"( no pun intended bros), those who are neutral enough to read through your comments and the opposing ones will surely see your points are TRULY based on facts and not really on the tribe as some have stereotyped you to be. But I advise again, please tone down on the way you repeatedly bang on some names here, it makes your points weak when the "nagging" become excessive. @ all, please we shouldn't try to segregate this thread by dividing the contributors here. Everyone's input is needed and no set of people should be made to appear as Lords over others. Let's try to bring a bit of quora to this thread where everyone is respected according to their inputs and not according to their time spent on a thread. Let me go back to my more of reading mode. It's better to read/hear more than talk/type. 6 Likes |

God, Germany even have up to 4 teams that can take on any teams in the world...now this is what I call a working national team. Injuries can't do nada to a country like this. I think their depth is even deeper than that of Brazil. They should be the tops in the world when it comes to depth. If they use their advantage well, they should be winning the world cup repeatedly. Yea I think so too, this might be an issue to us if he doesn't recover on time. We need quality backups and I support Rohr on getting better Cabs. Germany is a place for such. tbaba1234: |

forgiveness: Yes that's true. in a friendly match in 2011 (if my memory serves me right). They rather fielded their B team and got humiliated 4-1. They later arranged another friendly and field their major team that walloped us silly (can't remember the score line) Am sure he actually meant to say the first coach to beat Argies main Team... |

Eligreat247:What is the meaning of first coach to beat Argentina main team. Let me give you the scorecards between the two countries Team P W D L GF GA DF PT Argentina 6 4 0 2 12 12 0 12 Nigeria 6 4 0 4 12 12 0 6 There is nothing like team B in international friendly match and nobody is hating Rohr but that's the fact he was not the first Nigeria coach to beat Argentina.Samson yebowei Siasia was the first Nigeria coach to beat Argentina. Let us always give respect to some of the the achievement of our coaches cos some always full excuses to downgrade their success.Do you want us to say Rohr beat Argentina cos Messi was absent,no is not tenable cos messi is not Argentina but a player playing for Argentina. Truly the local coaches cannot be compared with foreign ones but they are the real foundation of Nigeria football.I remember the same Siasia won silver at Olympics but was not celebrated like Bonfrere Jo that won Atlanta 96 gold with bunch of Super eagles players. Stephen Keshi won afcon but a lot believed it was luck winning all his matches from quarter final to final in 90 minutes but celebrate Westerhoff that used 5 years to nurtured a team to win afcon. Let us just respect their achievement though they have their shortcomings and my advice i noticed some don't want Rohr to be criticised,no is not possible we need to evaluate him critically so that the team can grow.Criticising him is not hatred but for the love of the team. 1 Like 1 Share |
