Bros, a win is a win.

Who send them to present a B team. They were beaten 4-1 and that record will remain in the history books for life.

in 20years time when people see that result they will not see it as Nigerian Vs Argentina (B) .

I guess he meant the starting eleven of Argentina.
The one SiaOne beat was not the starting eleven now. gringrin
Starting eleven?my man,Samson Siasia led eagles beat Argentina national team 4-1.Do we say Rohr did not beat Argentina coz Lionel Messi was absent.

The major issue now is that they want to drawn us into technical superiority between Rohr and Siasia, meaning Siasia beat inferior Argentina team while Rohr beat superior team.

Forgetting football cannot be analyse like that, remember Keshi held the same South Africa team to 2-2 draw but Rohr lost 2 nil,do we say Keshi is superior technically.

I for one have acknowledge Rohr achievement so far with eagles but i w not be blind to criticise him constructively if need be,some see Rohr as a perfect coach forgetting a lot didn't believe in Rohr in the first place cos his CV was not good enough even Amaju said he gambled with his appointment.

Akpoguma Makes U-Turn On Snubbing Nigeria For Germany Says Anything Can Happen

German-Nigerian defender Kevin Akpoguma has left the door open over a potential switch of allegiance to Nigeria, few days after saying he wants to focus on progressing through the ranks of Germany.

He has already represented Germany at various youth levels, but coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr was hoping to convince him to switch allegiance to Nigeria at senior level.

Rohr is in Germany and he confirmed that he will hold talks with Akpoguma soon to have a chat with him on playing for Nigeria, but the 22 year old immediately responded by saying he wants to play for Germany.

However reports from Germany monitored by Owngoalnigeria.com has it that he granted an interview on a sport programme in Germany, where he confirmed he is open to the idea of playing for Nigeria.

Roland Mark said Akpoguma even confirmed talks will be held with Rohr who handles the Nigerian team, referring to him as a coach he respects a lot right from his days as director of youth football in Germany.

Seems like someone saw that German journalist's tweet

This guy must be deceiving himself thinking 9ja is in dire need of his unverified career
This is the same type of player that can walk out on the team if unsatisfied for any reason
I think Rohr should be careful about his desperacy to get players and should not make the national team look cheap.

I agree with you that Rohr was a gamble and not our first choice for coach. Also we shouldn't take anything away from our indigenous coaches who have achieved a lot as well.

I used to be a strong advocate for 9ja coaches I still am but one thing they keep doing which irritates me is they turn the national team to an avenue for inviting 'their' boys. I still can't understand what Sylvester Igboun was doing in the national team. Why Isaac Promise and Solomon Okoronkwo were invited to the eagles I still don't understand. Or do we talk about Agbim etc. If our Nigerian coaches who have been coached by some of the best in the world in their playing days could stop using the national team as a means of selling players, I want to believe they will achieve consistent and sustained success.

Ighalo Completes Construction Of Orphanage, To Be Launched In December

wetinhappen.com.ng

Nov 22, 2017 12:20 PM

By James Agberebi: Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo has set aside Saturday, December 16, 2017 as the date for the launch of his new orphanage in Lagos, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Chima-based Ighalo confirmed the date on his verified Twitter handle on Wednesday.

Last year, Ighalo revealed he planned to open his own orphanage to help the needy.

He was also posting pictures of the orphanage during construction stages on his social media accounts.

And on Tuesday, a press conference was held in Lagos to brief the public about plans concerning the unveiling of the orphanage.

Present at the conference were former Nigeria internationals Peter Rufai, Samson Siasia and Austin Eguavoen and also ex-Super Falcons goalkeeper Ann Chiejine.

“Launch date is 16th of December 2017 you are all invited,” Ighalo wrote on his Twitter handle, with pictutes of the completed buildings of the orphanage.

The pictures show one big, one-storey building with artwork in the front of the top floor depicting Ighalo in his traditional goal celebration of kneeling down and raising his hands to the heavens. ‘God is able’ is boldly inscribed under the image of Ighalo.

There is what looks like another one-storey building behind the main one, both looking big enough to comfortably accommodate scores of children.

The orphanage is located in Ijegun, a relatively newly developed, but highly populated part of Lagos in the Ikotun area, where there is not much affluence.

Ighalo helped the Super Eagles secure the sole ticket in Group B for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

As i have said if not for Rohr saying he need ball playing defender, the guy offer nothing much from what we have presently, not try to criticise him cos have made mentioned of him on this thread that there was a Nigerian German born that captain Germany U20 team against Nigeria at WC.

I watched him closely this season at least three matches cos he was always on the bench when season started and came into the team due to injury to one of the regular. So not that spectacular but normal defender who play ball on the ground and very useful in 3-5-2 formation, may be that what really drawn Rohr attention.

Akpoguma's rumored earlier response to Rohr's interest.

"I feel honoured, of course, but I am German. I was born here, so I should play for Germany too."

My question always is who asked the question? That's the world for us. The reality is most people will respond depending on PR.
The above response is a typical answer to a German media.

My earlier stance was wait until Rohr makes the call or whatever then we will hear Akpoguma's decision. It's not official until it's official

I’m still Super Eagles’ material, says Oboabona
By Tolu Olorunmoteni - November 22, 2017 49 0

Nigeria's midfielder OBOABONA Godfrey Oboabona listens to his national anthem before the Nigeria vs Cape Verde friendly football match in preparation for the CAN 2013 tournament at Algarve Stadium in Faro on January 9, 2013 .

Super Eagles’ defender, Godfrey Itama Oboabona, has said he still possesses the top notch quality in demand by the Gernot Rohr-led team.

The 2013 Africa Cup of Nations champion last played for the Super Eagles under former Coach Sunday Oliseh in 2015 but believes in his quality despite playing in the Saudi Arabian league.

“I don’t agree my quality has dropped just because I play my football in Saudi Arabia. We have quality stars in the Saudi league like Xavi Hernandez, Denilson, Kenwyne Jones, Royston Drenthe, Moussa Sow, Modibo Maiga and many others,” the former Rizespor of Turkey defender told AOIFootball.com.

The former Sunshine Stars of Akure player has featured 44 times for the Super Eagles and has been a consistent performer at Al Ahli this season, featuring in all games this season for the club.

Ahli have been top of the 14- team table since Match Day 3.

There are two distinct and seperate issues here

First, the comparison of the current set of SE players with pre- millennium teams that had players playing in the creme de La creme of the top clubs in Europe.

The second issue is progression. Most of our boys are playing in the backwaters of Europe and are not stand out players in thier leagues.

You have completely changed the goal post . The question is not best players in the world which arguably Casillas and Xavi could be described as. But progression to playing regularly in the the top leagues and top teams in Europe and or the world.

The Spanish players have an overwhelming majority who play in La Liga and top teams.

For instance Omeruo is playing in the back yard of Europe in Turkey. His peers are Neymar and Coutinho who didn't win anything at U17 level when they played in Nigeria.

Let's look at the German team of 2009 that produced the Barcelona goalkeeper Marc Andre , Mario Gotz, Mustafi (Arsenal) over 75% of them have played in the Bundesliga and over 50 currently play in the Bundesliga. That is progression.

Consider the entire 2009 team how many are playing regular top flight football in a top 5 league in Europe.

Why are we not progressing I remember all the accolades Rabui Ibrahim had. He was classed as one of the 10 best teenage footballers in the world. where is he now

This means there is a disconnect in our youth progression beyond the youth or age grade competition football. WHY
what do u think is the reason why our young players often fails to progress, and what can be done to improve the situation?

EVERTON AND LIVERPOOL CHASE NIGERIAN DEFENDER SHEHU ABDULLAHI

Merseyside clubs Everton and Liverpool are interested in acquiring the services of Nigerian International defender Shehu Abdullahi 90MinutesGoal.com reports.

The 24-years-old right back who plays for Cypriot side Anorthosis Famagusta, is highly rated as one of the top ten right backs in the World currently.

"Yes we have offers from Spain, France, Italy and Merseyside clubs in England, a top source of Mitem Sports Sprl, the player representative told www.90MinutesGoal.com on Monday"

"We will study which offer is best for our client, since he will be a free agent after the World Cup the source concluded".

Shehu has been in splendid form for both club and country as he helped Nigeria qualify for her sixth World Cup and also helped his club reach the summit of the Cypriot league table after 12 matches played.

A fine defender known for his man marking ability, horse like over lapping run and an eye for goal, as envident when his goal against Ermis was voted the second best goal in the Cypriot first division league for the 2016/2017 season.

He will be a good addition to Liverpool or Everton, as both clubs cannot confidently lay claims of having a perfect understudy to Nathaniel Clyne and Seamus Coleman who are both first choice for Liverpool and Everton respectively.

Everton have used five different players (Cuco Martina, Mason Holgate, Kenny, Tom Davies and Dominic Calvert-Lewin) since the injury to first choice Seamus Coleman in March 2017.

And after 12 matches none of the five players has been able to hold on to a starting shirt for the next game.

As for Liverpool, Nathanial Clyne has been the club most reliable player during the past two seasons, but Liverpool don't really have a natural replacement for him.

While 18-year-old Trent Alexander-Arnold looks like a perfect replacement for Clyne due to his pace, energy and ball delivery, he still needs improvement quickly in his defensive abilities.

Joe Gomez who made his England debut against Germany, is another right back who will be better suited as a center back due to his physicality, while Jon Flanagan lacks pace, height and physicality to be a modern day right back.

Everton looks like the destination for Shehu Abdullahi judging from the fact that his representative Mitem Sports Sprl are also the representatives of Evertonian Henry Onyekuru.

A move away from Anorthosis Famagusta looks likely in January, but the management of the club are hoping to keep hold of their prized jewel even though he will be a free agent after the World Cup in Russia in 2018.
