Feminism is the hatred of men.

These images and the correlating ideas do not embody what the feminist movement is and what true feminists stand for. These are misconceptions, and these misconceptions are widespread. The easiest way to define true feminism is this: everyone should have equal rights and opportunity regardless of gender. Or just say it is the fight for gender equality through the empowerment of women. Either one works well. However, as previously stated, feminism does not carry a single definition and has multiple platforms. Feminism also means something different to every person. For me, feminism means recognizing differences and being empathetic to achieve peaceful equality while others are much bolder in their ideals. With all of this in mind, here are 20 corrected misconceptions about feminism that I notice on an almost regular basis:
I disagree. Feminism cannot be the fight for gender equality- because its sole goal is to 'empower women'. Now, I'm replying you with the assumption that modern 3rd/4th wave feminism is NOT what we're talking about here, but the rosy definition you gave instead (which doesn't correlate with real life feminists).
You cannot fight for gender equality by "empowering women" alone. Why? This gives the impression that society is somehow wired against women ALONE, which is wrong. Men and women both face different hurdles in their daily lives due to their gender, and its wrong to make it one-sided. Clean up things for the females and leave things bad for men.
Society us not at fault. Traditional gender roles are. And while they are not bad, they do need fine tuning. Let's take an example.

Feminists complain about girls and women being 'looked down on' and 'discriminated against' for things considered 'manly'. Blaming society for the 'misconception' that all girls are girly.

What about men? During the Vietnam war there was forced conscription of physically fit American males into the US army- both those that were willing to go and those who weren't. You could only escape if you were rich like Donald Trump who faked a medical report, or if you out right refused to go like Mohammed Ali (who got stripped of his world title and thrown in jail).

That's just one among many. Men always lose in custody battles for the children. Men are always 'guilty until proven innocent' in rape accusations. This is why sensitive places like nudist beaches, hedonistic resorts, etc rarely allow single men to visit them. (But its not so for women). Men are not allowed to show emotions. Society frowns on male homosexuals but will let lesbians pass by. Chivalry is expected of men. I could go on and on.

But the thing is, most men are not complaining. We've accepted our gender roles as burdens we have to bear because we are men. Now, what really pisses me (and a whole lot of other men) off is that somehow, women think they're the only ones facing some kind of "oppression" in society. For the first example I gave, an actual interview of women on a liberal university campus (which should be overflowing with feminists!!) showed that they were all NOT in favor of being forcefully conscripted to the army in times of war and were grateful for their 'female privilege' (since that's the word we use nowadays).

The simple fact remains: you cannot fight for gender equality by empowering one side alone.

I don't have respect for feminists, and I'm sorry but not sorry. Of course, if I were to live in the more liberal parts of America I'd keep my opinion to myself, but its a movement I just cannot bring myself to support.

Even worse, feminists movements add myths like the gender pay gap to their narrative to gain more sympathy. NO, WOMEN DO NOT MAKE LESS THAN MEN. They cunningly ignored the fact that women on average work less hours than men, so therefore would obviously earn less on average.

*******************************************

Now, if you told me you were egalitarian- willing to empower both sides- then, I'd take a seat and listen to you. We could have a nice, civil discussion about which gender roles need to be scrapped and which should stay. wink

Since we are about equality I ask again..y aren't women fighting to abolish the law which divides the mans property at the point of divorce even if he made it on his own? undecided undecided undecided

Such a law don't exist!
In case of community ownership of property which I believe you misrepresented,
the family's wealth is shared not the man's property.
If you are uncomfortable with such arrangement, marry a woman who is as rich
or richer than you, so she won't get a penny if a divorce occurs. I am not sure
you will want such a woman due to ego.
Remember, the law was made by men who are way more smarter than you could
ever be.

Feminism has evolved to being a toxic and irredeemable movement.

Yes, equality, equity and freedom for all genders are essential, desirable and sensible.

And outside the West, there is still much work to be done but the Feminists in the West have destroyed the credibility of the tag to the point it is really no more acceptable.

BlackManta:

Lately there has been a dramatic increase in the amount of discussion around the concept of feminism, which is awesome. Even when people disagree, at least the concept of gender equality is being noticed and discussed. Unfortunately, the feminist movement receives a lot of backlash and battles being stereotyped. Falling victim to the evil of misconceptions is something the feminist movement deals with on a regular basis.

One of the most noted misconceptions, which forms the basis for the rest of this article, is that feminism is this one lumped idea that carries a single definition. It is unfortunate that the definition involves women manipulating gender for their personal benefit. Not only is that definition a misconception, but also desecrates the entire feminist movement for its true agenda, which is gender equality.

The problem is that one cannot categorize complex things like a movement that easily, and when that happens, massive misconceptions begin to arise. I’ll give an example by what I mean. I Googled imaged the word feminist and this is what pops up:

There is no misconception about feminism.

The concept is blatant in the name, the philosophy and the actions of its proponent.

It is not about equal rights, it is about the interest of women.

Lets forgive or understand as circumstances the naming being about women, not equality. One cannot help but observe when you engage with virtually ALL feminists about injustices in the law to men, they make it clear to you "That is not what feminism is about, it is about women's rights only".

How can you be about "equal rights" when your philosophy is about fighting for things to your gender disadvantage but think it is not worth fighting things to your gender advantage? If you totally are successful, what would be the outcome? Equality or Inequality?

Now to finish it off is looking at the actions and advocacy of feminists in the West. The leading voices of the movement are using the victim card (like black morons) to force their bias philosophy to be law and gain gender superiority.

The outcome of this is:

1) Statutory discrimination against men
2) Disharmony between the sexes

FEMINISM IS TOXIC AND IRREDEEMABLE!!! People that believe in equal rights should find a new name if they want to fight the good fight.
