President Muhammadu Buhari seemed to be in high spirit on Monday when he inaugurated a 30-member new minimum wage committee, seizing the moment to mockingly comment on the resignation of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar from the ruling APC.

During the inauguration in Abuja, Mr. Buhari, while making routine greetings before his remarks, turned to the national chairman of the APC, John Odigie-Oyegun, and said “accept my sympathy for losing a senior member of your party”.

Although, Mr. Buhari did not mention any name, Mr. Abubakar is the latest senior member of the APC to have left the party.

Mr. Abubakar last week announced that he was resigning because of the party’s failure to fulfil its promise to Nigerians.

The president joked even more as he read out names of attendees.

“My speech has no name of the CBN governor, but I dare not read it out without addressing the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria,” he said.

Also, during a session for group photograph with members of the committee, Mr. Buhari joked with the governor of Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola, by wondering how the governor was not “properly dressed” as opposed to his counterpart from Kebbi State, Atiku Bagudu.

Before a shocked Mr. Aregbesola could recover, Mr. Buhari pointed to the Armed Forces Remembrance emblem on the chest of Mr. Bagudu which was missing on Mr. Aregbesola.

I think theu wanted Atiku gone a long time ago but the issue with Mama Taraba forced Atiku's hands.

Atiku played his cards too early. It would have been better if he created internal strife thereby creating cracks and he can move with a large number of members like Saraki did to PDP

Atiku only want to increase buhari chance of winning 2019 election.

He should rather sponsor a vibrant candidate with his resources rather than embarrassing himself as usual.

Nah that's is not how politics is being played

Quote me, there will be mass defection from APC to PDP in less than two weeks to PDP convention, another mass defection will take place on the very day of PDP defection.

The defection is starting from the Senate and House of Reps
The final and largest defection that will deplete the rank of APC will be immediately after the PDP defection.

Atiku crossing over to PDP alone was just a smoke screen to confuse APC.

The real defections from APC to PDP starts in two weeks before PDP convention in December

I think he had to join the PDP early so as to integrate his structure to enable him win the primaries.

Somehow I feel like GEJ is on Atiku's side to win the primaries and if that's true, I believe he'll def win the primaries with GEJ's help

There's also a lot of chatter about Kwankwaso defecting. I wonder how true that is

mass defection or no mass defection,BUHARI will still win if ATIKU is PDP presidential candidate.

The only slight chance PDP has is to present a vibrant candidate, someone who has the love of nigerians at heart, some at his early 50's,someone with zero currupt record and probly give Fayose VP post.

Atiku's defection may just be the beginning of a realignment of interests. But it's safe to say the PDP guys in APC may return home

The part that really got me is Buhari saying Aregbesola was not properly dressed, and also telling the party chairman “Accept my sympathy for losing a senior member of YOUR party”. Though he meant those comments to be a simple joke, but he succeeded at insulting both the governor and his party chairman.
Referring to his own party as"...Your party"?!! And some buffoons call this one a leader?
