it's not just enough to play well week in week out but,

(1)can we guarantee that these players still have the hunger and above mentioned qualities to win us championships?
(2) is it proper for us to invite those players that have left national team longer than 3yrs that r still doing well?

I didnt call for Osaze or Tiawo they are not on top of the game. However Joel Obi outside of Mikel is the most consistent top quality midfielder we have currently.

Obagoal over the past ten years is the most continously present and past consistent striker we have now.

As it stands KC is the untouchable darling of many. He is essentially potential yet to be fully realised. He has not been consistent at club level indeed far from it. He has not scored one goal in the EPL this season. Compare him to Obagoal when the chips are down who would you rather have KC is learning the trade and still handicapped in that he is overly left foot biased. Obagoal is tested and proven and we'll schooled graduated with honours.

If Obagoal had the same level of opportunity as KC I wonder what his goal tally would be for the SE.

It's not how long ago you were in the SE, but what quality you have and can presently bring to the table.

Like I stated, during my time, I could score 2 goals but if we lose our coach would ask me why I didn't score 3. To hear him talk about my game, you'd think that it's me versus the other team. At Eupen, Henry was probably allowed to run amock and do what pleases him, provided he scored or created something for the drowning team.

At a higher level, that is not acceptable. You are expected to defend, maintain the team shape, create chances and score. The coach obviously see some serious talent in Henry and he's trying to make him grow up.
Hazard became world class when he adapted his game. I suspect the coach wants him to model his game around Hazards.

Theo Walcott's game deteorated when he believed he was better off as a striker. Today, he's neither a striker nor a winger. Henry must be careful.

We really need a Left footed player as a back-up for Echiejile, if not as a replacement.

Taking Aina or Idowu to WC with the intention of playing them as LB's will limit our progress in the WC.

But we can try Ebuehi since Toyin said he can play comfortably as a left-back, the same way he did against Argentina.If he(Ebuehi) fails to impress as a LB, we should get J.Torunarigha.If not ,our LB will become our weak link since Aina is not that good as a LB and[b] Idowu does not defend and join or link up with the attack[/b] like Ebuehi does.He only edges Aina in terms of positioning as seen against Argentina.

FYI, I have the second half of that match downloaded on my phone and I have watched it over a hundredth times and I can say confidently that both at our attacks and our defending, you will always see idowu lurking around marking space, meaning that he haas the pace to do both at the same time which is a good thing on its own. Someone that was even in the 6 yard box when iwobi scored. There are two forms of marking, 1. Man marking and 2. Space marking . I saw idowu doing more of the later than the former while ebuehi did more of the former than the later. And from my experience playing amateur football, players/defenders who are very good at space marking or shadow marking are extremely intelligent folks who can read games very well. These set of players are indispensable in a team.

For every time we had the ball going forward, idowu was always at the third half of Argentina looking for a pass or loose ball. For every attack from Argentina, idowu was back behind in our 18 yard taking off Argentine's Pavon. Intact he frustrated Pavon out of the game and he was changed. The player who replaced him resulted to crossing from outside because he couldn't pass through idowu. There was even a clear rebounds that idowu cleared off else that woud have become 3-4. Idowu had Ogu always beside him providing support which was essential and necessary. So please, I want to believe that your assertion was erroneously made. Idowu was only silent because he was marking well "off the ball" and covering space which didn't allow the Argentines to create anything tangible through his wing. Remember that it was through his same position in the Argentines were recking havoc althrough the first half.

I will advice that you get the clip of the second half and rewatch in order to notice what I just analyzed.

There are certain players I will watch and will need to see them again in one or two other games to give them the nod. But there are some I would see for just 15mins or less and give the nod.

Brian Idowu has my nod.

Go back and look at the maturity in his game. He didn't play like a debutant. This could be connected to him being based in Russia where that friendly was played. And this we can also exploit at the World Cup. He needs no acclimatization.

For a defender to score on his debut! Go back and study the build up to his goal. So much confidence and maturity.

And hardly would you notice any gaps at the LB despite his movements up and down the pitch.

If Rohr would want to adopt the 3-5-2 formation for the WC, my wing back options are V. Moses and Brian Idowu.
