/ Western world cure depression by counseling and medications. Nigerians cure depression with alcohol and communal living. Have you been to a bar recently? Ban alcohol in Nigeria and watch the suicide rate rise astronomically. Guess what? Counseling, medications, alcohol and communal living all cure depression in equal measures. / |

Best way to beat depression according to me is exercise. Exercise helps to elevate the mood and helps us sleep better, a depressed person seeing positive changes to his body will generally feel better about himself and motivate him to do more. Reduced dopamine levels result in depression and exercising regularly boosts dopamine secretion |

lebete3000:well I know a dimwit of your caliber will jump on my mention .... Welcome, now warrior of nairaland, depression comes in various packages it depends on the individual in her own case ... The miscarriage led her to a year long depression. Common ! I mean if it was about having a baby .... Then why not get forked and get pregnant and stop portraying Africa as backwards becasue you have watched TV and seen how they do it in the west ....if all our parents were depressed over bullcrap like these you and I won't be here ... We all have issues .. face them or go 6 feet and rest |

Frenchfriez: When I lost my Job last year, I was seriously depressed. I had been working without a break since immediately after NYSC,so it was very strange to me. I didn't sleep well for about a month , when I managed to catch some sleep, my head would be like a highway, I would be hearing voices in my head..It wasn't funny at all. Some days I would cry for hours non stop, it didn't help matters that I was usually Home alone for hours. Luckily for me, I got counselled by a friend and I got to realise that it's just a phase. I started to go out more and changed my outlook on life... Better days are here.. 4 Likes |

cyborg123: Most African countries don't believe that things like depression exists. Especially our country Nigeria. In the western countries, therapists and rehabilitation centers are seen everywhere. As an African, as a Nigerian you are to beat your depression yourself. Do it anyhow you like, nobody cares. Too bad for a country. 1 Like 1 Share |

Re: Fighting Depression As An African by imma2(m): 11:11am On Nov 28, 2017 |
Franzinni:You are entitled to your opinions bro but I don't subscribe to you undermining someones feeling or psychological state based on your own resilience to issues surrounding your own life or perspective. You should remember, everybody does not react to the same way to the exact same issues. That's what makes us Humans. That's what makes us unique. In between, a man's depression is not always financially based. Do some research before you start spewing trash on what you don't have any single idea on. |
