Mamas... Bobo still dey suck even with aloevera o. He will just coat it with salaiva and piam... Sucky sucky dey go. I started saying in a stern voice "dont suck your thumb" he would remove it and smile then put it back after a while. Next move is neem leaf (dongoyaro) after that one na bamboo stick (pankere) remain. Or if anyone has any other ideas. Like what is the most "worstest bitterest" thing in Nigeria? If u tell me to leave him I won't answer you *runs away* 2 Likes |

So sorry about your experience. I had this same experience at MCC Amuwo last week when my baby was sick. One advice I would give is us as much as people tout govt general hospitals a s the best, don't overlook your HMO/private clinic. They always come in handy. Always! On Wednesday when my baby's sickness was at its peak, we had seen the pediatrician at a private clinic earlier in the day and she asked us to continue the zinc and ORS but by night time, my baby's temp was reading 38.1. Called the pediatrician and she said she was on duty at Alimosho General hospital but that we should try and keep her temp low and she would see us in the morning. By 11pm, all my efforts to keep her temp normal were not working. I started crying so Dh says we should head to the general hospital. He drove like a maniac and we got to the hospital in a record 10mins and went straight to emergency. Nurse on duty took her temp and she confirmed it was quite high. She asked if I had given Pcm and I said yes so she asks us to wait that the pead is coming. That's how we waited for one hour, no doctor came. Hubby was going to ask the nurse every 5mins where the doc is and she would say he is coming. How do you see a baby being brought to emergency at 12am with a temp you confirm is high and knowing that it could lead to convulsion and you sit there saying Doctor is coming and for over an hour, no doctor comes and this is supposed to be an emergency for f**k sakes! After a while, my baby's temp was normal and hubby asked us to go home but I inisited we wait since we were already there and had waited a while. One woman came to join us with her baby. Another couple too came with a boy of about 3years old. The couple did not come with their card as they left their house in a hurry but you could tell the boy was seriously ill and the mother was crying. A few mins later, the pead came and started shouting at the nurse, asking why they had to wake him at that time of the night. This was already 12:30. After a few mins, we were called in to see the doc. By now my baby's temp had come down to 37. He asks us whats wrong and I explained, he checks her temp and goes "ehnn shebi her temperature is now normal". I said yes it is but when we came, it wasn t. Even on the chart, 37.6 was what was recorded. He looked at us and said so now that her temp is now normal, why did younow come? Omg! Dh lost it and lashed at him, asking him that if the baby's temp had been normal, would we come and sit in the hospital by 12am? All the nurses started begging DH to calm down so we left the consulting room. The couple that came with the sick boy were begging the nurse to attend to them and the nurse was saying they have to get a card but then nobody could find who to issue the card as the cubicle for card issuance was empty. Next thing, the boy started convulsing. The parents shouted and that was when the nurses stood up. He convulsed for some minutes while they were doing whatever it is they do. After a few mins, the boy went limp and that was when the doctor carried him into a room to perform CPR. At that point, we had to leave but I kept praying that nothing happens to that boy. If he had been promptly attended to as the emergency case that he is, his condition wouldn't have deteriorated. To think that the parents came to the hospital for help and nobody helped them until it was almost too late. After that incident, Dh said that is the last time we would go to a govt clinic. We later saw the pead at the private clinic and she was the one who admitted and treated my baby [quote author=zaynie post=62775075]Hello mamas. I see and acknowledge all mentions. 3 Likes |
