hello, i jst joined the thread and hoping to apply anytime soon, pls can u put me through how to go about locatibg and searching fr certified University in the USA , payments and all, if necessary, can we cht in o.thanks
Most times its better to read the thread so that you get insight about the process, not everytime be looking for fish. learn how to fish too. My advice to you is to read this thread or read some of the posts I have made in the past if you are the lazy type but trust me, this thread is a goldmine. Anyways some of this quotes might be useful
For every Engineering graduate school prospect coming here to ask for school suggestions, who does not have access to US news ranking, this spreadsheet might save you some stress. It has all the 2017 ranking of Engineering schools. It wont take you more than a week to start sending emails, perusing each school website to see which one of them you have chances of getting into and which one meets your goals and aspirations.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwKmQy59LeEpUW5tbEZhRHJmR1U/view?usp=sharing

And I cant reply every pms again please, the busy season is here , below you will find a good SOP you can use as guide and ebook
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwKmQy59LeEpZ2Y3bnk2Vlh4ekM0dy13VERhWDNpY2FGLVRV/view?usp=sharing
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwKmQy59LeEpQ0VGeFVSd0l1eUJyMUJvQ0V3cW1oeDhmZ3J3/view?usp=sharing
First, you need to decide on the course you want to study, To save you some stress start from this website http://graddecision.org/ to know the application process, So step 1) Decide on the course you want to study 2) Search for schools using a)www.msinus.com (open this website with a laptop, you should see a list of school and ranking for some of the most common courses, you can start from there b)www.gradschools.com c)www.google.com (you can just type 'msc in bla bla in the us in google' d) www.usnews.com e) www.4icu.org . 3) check up the website of the schools you find, to see the requirements. most schools will require GRE and some will require both gre and toefl . 4) Register for standardize exam and take it. You can register for gre as soon as you are ready and prepared to take the exam. Its done online at www.ets.org. You can also get all the information you need about the exam on the website. You will get adequate materials to prepare for the exam in this dropbox I created https://www.dropbox.com/sh/t9ot6d07hp1lkm7/AADL_dTihjEvNBRCBsmAcoXja?dl=0

TOEFL is an English test required by some US universities. though, some schools waive due to the fact that Nigeria is an Anglophone country.
For toefl, all you need are the speaking noteful videos in the link below, the ets toefl guide is enough to ace the exam for other sections. Just download the toefl ETS Guide from there website and the simulation test.
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/45tvc3ifi8wh8sh/AACXR5j6l3nsWK8vZx5P28TVa?dl=0

As for the Tuition, if you have good results (GRE, GPA, Toefl), SOP and LOR; US schools do offer assistanship to graduate students. This can either be Research Assistant, Teaching Assistant or Administrative Assistant. Depending on the school, if you get an assistantship, your Tuition will be waived and you will also be paid a monthly stipend that can take care of your living expenses. One advice, once you shortlist schools, send emails to the grad cord of the schools and ask specific questions relating to that course and funding opportunities, be very explicit.

Lastly, there are basically 2 admission session in the US, Spring (Jan) and Fall (August). Schools admit more students in Fall, so Its advisable you plan towards Fall 2018. If you plan to resume in fall 2018, make sure you submit all your application documents before ending of Dec 2017. If you don't give it a trial, you will never know.My philosophy in life is to always do my part, with that I don't get to regret later. Above all, if you believe in God,pray to him..if not, good for you.

If you have any question, drop it here and you should get more than one good answer.

I think you really answered your questions correctly, for the most part. I did notice, though, that the F1 student visa questions have become quite tougher than they were during my time. Back then, if you answered the basic questions (as we used to analyze them back in 2013 and 2014) correctly you would probably be approved. Another trend I sometimes notice is some actually serious students are denied the first time and approved the second time. It is as if they know that if denied, most likely you would reapply again, which is extra bucks for the embassy. N64,000 per interview, multiplied by the thousands of people that go to the embassy 5 days a week. The amount of money that the US embassy generates from Nigeria alone every year would most likely exceed billions of Dollars, how much more from all their embassies worldwide. From an economic view, this is money making business for the US embassy.

Anyway, you just have to try again. Sometimes you could be very much prepared and be a genuine student but meet the wrong visa officer. Cheer up and give it a second try.

Thank you @bigfrancis for these soothing and encouraging words. Honestly, it's still like a dream to me. Conversation with VO was very calm and I enjoyed it until she dished me that blue paper. angry

I will try to work more and try again one last time. If it's not God's will, then lemme stay back and keep buying more land. grin The embassy may come to buy someday for their embassy expansion. grin

Lol. Don't mind me guys, am just trying to be happy. Wouldn't have hurt one bit if I wasn't prepared. I was prepared, composed, expressed and spoke from my heart, maintained eye contact all thru but she had the final say as the judge.

God will still do it for me.

@Bigfrancis can I PM you please?

Hello. I want to help someone pay for sevis. What details should the person give me aside SEVIS ID number? I haven't done this before. More info will be appreciated. Thanks

Also is it easier mailing a check instead?

good day family... I had my visa interview today. Like someone rightly pointed, its getting tougher by the day embarassed.. But this is not to create panic. I just believe all will end well.

In my own case, i just believe it was God's doing. Not to bore you so much, I was interviewed by a guy in Window 6here goes my transcript;

V.O: good morning
Me: Good Morning, how are you doing?
V.O: Fine thank you (in my mind, this is going to turn out good)... Pass me your passport and I-20 please
Me: passes
V.O.: Why are you going to TAMUK?
Me: For my Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering
V.O.: How many schools did you apply to?
Me: 3, Tamuk. Sdsm&t and TTU
V.O.: So why Tamuk?
Me: Tamuk offers excellent education to its student through high quality teaching, research and scholarly activities. It has facility for work in Computer aided engineering design and computational fluid dynamics. I am keen on working with Dr. Johnbull. I contacted him and he was impressed with my undergraduate result and test scores(if only i know i hyped myself in his eyes at this point embarassed cry) . I continued, We will be working on a collaborative project with UofW to model their steam generator using ansys fluent or open foam

Now this is where the real driling started... Baba was on his computer for like 2minutes or so, apparently he was checking online for questions to ask me on fluid dynamics since i claimed i was a badass. i have read so many transcripts here on NL, i havent seen something like that before, the most they do is ask one technical question in your field. Then the bombshell followed...

V.O: Tell me about di-kinikan kinikan of fluid mechanics (i swear i never hear am before, in my mind, i was like village people finally followed me to this place)
Me: What?
V.O: Repeated question again ( i still couldn't make sense of what the word means or how to link it with fluid mechanics... My own don be, i asked what again) Then he repeated the question for the 3rd time using the same word and then he was like "or how is it pronounced".. that was when i knew baba just checked something randomly, i dont know where the courage came from, i just started saying this unplanned rubbish confidently and even said it has application in production industry like coca cola
V.o: (obviously wasnt impressed by my answer, i could read that) then he asked for something something on turbulent flow
Me: Confidently, Turbulent flow is a flow where reynolds no is >3000. where you have layers of fluid interwoven into each other. It has application in oil production and undesirable in some circumstances, as a result, you see flow meters and other measuring devices on line (trust me, I dont have an idea of either the question or how the answer i was giving relates with it)
V.O.: Explain Bernoulli's principle
Me.: (Ope ooo, finally i can breathe) Bernoulli principle is basically the law of conservation of energy, the cumulative energy at one end of a flow is equal to the other end, so when you vary a parameter like diameter, you will expect a change in pressure. i gave him an instance of a venturi meter

You or the person first need to generate the payment coupon from www.fmjfee.com which you would need for the payment. Depending on how urgent the person needs it, you can either pay instantly at WU (costs $10 extra for a total of $210) or by mail (include a personal check or buy a money order of $200 together with the generated payment coupon) to SEVP (address is on the coupon). If using mail, ensure that you add tracking (certified mail option at USPS).

I am sorry for causing the thread to derail. The reason I post on here is cause I feel I might be of help to someone who needs usd. My final approach will be to use these online sending apps but they come with a cost. I have done transactions with a couple of people here and also been helped before in the past. Infact I am just about to make a sevis payment for someone on this thread who I dont know from adam. Like bigfrancis pointed out, it is very easy to smell a rotten fish in posts like that but I am more than confident of my integrity because I have done transactions with people. I haven't met bigfrancis befre in person but we started off from dollar transactions and he ended up being a family friend. So everything is about trust in the end. I apologize once again for derailing the thread.

My people, indeed it takes courqge to come up here to post your denial transcript o. The moment I was denied, I felt like the ground should open lemme fall into it or even disappear into thin air but now, it seems am better and stronger now emotionally.

Now, here comes my denial cry

I appreciate your courage. If you're a genuine student and destined to study in U.S...... nothing can stop you. I've seen many genuine students denied. I was also denied the student visa before, by an American lady. It's either her evaluation of me was erroneous or I wasn't enthusiastic enough and couldn't convince her.

Fast forward to present: In a few months from now, I would be licensed to start saving lives irrespective of their nationality, age, religion, race and sex. On my free day, I will willingly take my car, fuel it with my money, pick up some food at a location and start going from house to house delivering the food to the old people in an area where my race don't even live. I've never done this before when I was in Nigeria but I've been doing it here for 1.5 year. In soaking rain, freezing winter and hot summer, I will go out every Thursday to give food to the seniors. Some will ask "why are you doing this", I will tell them I like helping and that's my purpose for being here for you. This is the purpose for which I'm destined to be in U.S

Imagine if that VO lady that denied me could see into future and see my purpose here, probably she wouldn't have denied my application the first time. What I'm telling you and other genuine students denied and depressed is - don't take visa denial as a failed life. Life is for a purpose. If your purpose in life is to study in U.S and use it to contribute positively to your community, you would be in U.S.... such can't be done in proxy.

Whatever would be would be..... Cheers my friend!

I totally understand your concerns but its simple, you can look past it if you dont need usd. I dont use NL as often as I used to so I like to post multiple times in a week before deciding to use world Remit etc. I would have been called out a long time if I was fake but I know for sure my posts have an intended audience which I have done transactions and still do transactions smoothly!

Hiding that particular post was not done as a personal issue with you, I do that in every thread in this section because anything is criminally possible.

I send money to my Nigeria bank account almost every week using WorldRemit or Azimo costing me as little as £1, in fact the first time I used Azimo it was free. It's far better than handling my bank details to a stranger online.

It's very risky to come online asking a complete stranger for such transaction.

In Canadian visa thread somebody was a victim of a similar transaction, a nairalander used a stolen credit card details to make payment to a school in Canada on his behalf and the credit card company found out and contacted the school as a result the school cancelled his admission.

I'm just taking a precautionary measure to reduce the chances of some crooks here carrying out such fraudulent activity.
