omohayek: The hand writings are were there, any one with half an analytical mind would know that the chibok situation was not possible without the backing of incumbent governor, members of his cabinet, top shots of the State and men from the north to make sure their regaining power agendum worked. We don't ask intelligent questions in Nigeria and the few who ask those questions get tagged wailers, ipob and what have you! But that's story for another day. I quite agree with your second paragraph but my dear brother, don't bank on that precedent cos it may not happen! This is Nigeria! OK look at this scenario... Say buhari rigs the elections, what do you think would happen? Riots and protests? This is a man who has ordered armless civilians to be shot at and killed at various occasions... What makes you think he won't order same on anyone who tries to go on the street to challenge his "electoral victory"? 2 Likes |

bishopkay:Considering that a few militants in the Niger-Delta alone were enough to bring the country to its knees, how long do you think Buhari would last in office if he had the majority of the south and the middle-belt against him? Nigeria is too ethnically and religiously diverse for such a thing to fly - it wasn't really GEJ's "peace loving" or "democratic" nature that forced him to give up office in 2015, and it won't matter how dictatorial Buhari wants to be in 2019 if he loses mass support, which is now happening even within his own NW home region, thanks to his woeful mismanagement of the economy. The truth is that Buhari is a weak incumbent, clearly incompetent to deal with Nigeria's problems even if age and poor health weren't holding him back; he is the Nigerian equivalent of Jimmy Carter, a sitting duck waiting for a strong challenger to wipe the floor with him. The real problem is that the PDP still thinks it can get away with the same old "money and godfathers" politics that leads the same old thieves to the top, when it should be looking for a dynamic, young challenger who understands economics and technology, someone in the mould of France's Macron or Canada's Trudeau. Nobody in their right mind will vote for the likes of Atiku, Modu Sheriff and company, but that's all the PDP seems to be offering, almost as if they want Buhari to defeat them. 4 Likes 1 Share |

According to the convention implicitly agreed upon by the Nigerian political class, the presidency will remain in the north till 2023. Now whether or not this is in the nation's best interests is another matter entirely 1 Like |

come 2019, Its going to be a very big shocker for Nigerians. I cannot begin to claim to be a sooth sayer like the jet flying sugar coated tongued pastors! I am not a politician, but with the political terrain in Nigeria, its still going to be a long journey to the land of Egypt where, 40days journey has become a 40yrs journey. the Messiah is not coming 2019. and for PDP with all the cross carpeting here and there, just forget the political show and political arena and rescind into other businesses. A time will come in Nigeria when it will no longer be business as usual and when there era of paddy paddy government would be long forgotten. For me, I really would love the next President to be an Igbo man not because of one silly and lousy Nnamdi KANU, but because the Igbo's as a nation strongly deserve it. It would be befitting if the real Odimegwu Chukwuemeka Ojukwu Son emerge the Presidential Candidate of the APC's choice or Rochas Okorocha, or Orji Uzor Kalu as the APC presidential choice. but more preferably, it would be best to have a young chap around the ages of 35yrs and 45yrs with a conglomerate, global and panoramic views and philosophy. The real spirit of stewardship and honesty in service to the people under the umbrella of PDP died with the true hero and legendary leader Olusegun Obasanjo exit from the party. 1 Like |

urahara: Buhari is not concerned with either. And Atiku is not what I think of when you say integrity. Stop recycling the same useless characters. Stop allowing the north to dictate nonsense and push mediocrity and poverty on the rest of the nation. I'm all for weakening the centre so that it doesn't matter where the president is from. Because even if you have elections they will rig it as they did last time. Same as how they commit fraud during census. |
