See, I watch football in viewing centers, different public places, forget racism, forget all that political shii The biggest antagonist of Nigerian footballers, are Nigerians, now take this situation, I have observed the scenario, occurring over and over, in different places Chelsea was playing a game, Mikel made the starting 11, and you here comments like "see this one, make Im no play rubbish" another "we go score goal today at all, this one wey we Mikel dey play" Now with this in mind, as the game continues , lampard makes a mistake ,you hear "Lampido , nawa oh, pass well na" Mikel makes same mistake you hear "Idiot, e no sabi anything, make den carry am go back bench" Moses, onazi, they all suffer the same insults, And I am like, wtf, our players suffer undue criticism from we Nigeria, like we are hating on them or something, any small rough patch, we start putting them down, when people who are optimistic try to encourage them, we label them as being blind.. Now, all your acclaimed "objectivity" and putting down our players, anytime they go through a rough patch over the years, has it made us produce a messi or ronaldo, even a hazard?.. Has it helped in anyway?. No... Obviously So leave us, let us hype our players to the heaven, we, II refuse to believe that iheanacho is not as good or better than aguero, my choice, I might be wrong, but that will not stop me from saying Alex iwobi is as good ozil.. I would rather hype my players and see attempt to live up to up or fail to live up to the hype, than put my players down at every opportunity, and accept that we would always be mediocre when compared to others 14 Likes 4 Shares |

My interpretation of Rohr’s response is this. It’s either he is just being diplomatic. More like saying if Osimhen is still in my plans, then I have no excuse not to give a chance to any striker that is scoring, or maybehe is really thinking Martins deserves a chance to be tried in this current SE. Either way, it’s a good sign. Competition is good. goldfish80: |

Icon79:Vardy is a better out and out striker than Nacho...FACTS. Nacho was bought to play ALONGSIDE Vardy in a 4-4-2. Saying Nacho is better than Vardy is one of the funniest things ever. The Salah you see at Liverpool at the moment is 20 times better than the Salah at Chelsea, Fiorentina and heck Roma. No comparison or whatever. People like you are always blinded by patriotism. When we said G Jesus was going to push Nacho further down the pecking order at city, you guys refused to listen. It was "Nacho alien kid", etc. Mahrez > Nacho as AM Vardy > Nacho as CM Gray > Nacho on the wings. That is just the truth of the matter. Name 10 epl strikers better than Vardy?? |

It’s hard to see players listed as both-footed if there is such a thing. Some players are almost as good with the other foot. tbaba1234: |

My only beef with the coaching crew at Leicester is that they haven't given Nacho a chance to perform. Shakespeare claimed that he wanted to introduce him gradually since he was coming off an injury. You pay big buck for a player because you need him, but if you start off by keeping him on the bench it affects his confidence and his game. Kelechi is new to the team, it would take him time to get at the top of his game but you gotta give him game time to help him get there. Keeping him on the bench would damage his confidence. Up until yesterday, Jamie Vardy has been on a scoreless run but didn't they keep playing him? Kelechi doesn't need to walk on water before he can start at Leicester. I am not one of those folks who would jump on a player because he's sitting on the bench. I would only criticize you when you're given a chance to play and then you don't deliver. Joebie:As long as Leicester are playing a 4-2-3-1 / 4-4-2 with Mahrez behind Vardy, Nacho is going to have a very difficult time breaking into the first 11. When it was Okazaki playing as a second striker, I wasn't too worried as i felt Nacho could bench him as the season progressed but now Puel has decided to play Mahrez as a 10, tell me how/who is he going to bench?? People are easily writing Vardy off like he's Heskey or something...look at his numbers and tell me any sane would just drop him like that for Nacho? 1 Like |

EEGA:How many times did you see us going forward on that left wing before you start focusing on Idowu? How many times did see Iwobi(about three times and he was dispossessed twice) going forward on that left wing, how many times did you see Ogu going forward as a LMF? Compared to the right where Ebuehi was exchanging passes with Iheanacho, Mikel and Ndidi there wasn't much going on on the left flank. Abi you want him to just run down the flank to prove a point? |

Icon4s:Ha ha ha, it's not like Argentina used to dash us 3-0 and above in our previous meetings. They have been lucky, the last two times we met them, always escaping with just a goal. In 2010 WC,it was 1-0 and In 2014 WC, it was 3-2. We should admit that we have a very weak left-side for the 3-5-2 formation. Did you not say "most of our goals came from the right?" What if a team decides to pay special attention to our right side, shutting down our attacks and attacking our right just to stop us from attacking? What then will be the reaction of our weak left-side if they decide to "defend" at the left and wait for the right to initiate both attacks and counter-attacks? We should work on our left-side starting from the LCB.Balogun is slow and right-footed(I stand to be corrected) and shouldn't have played in that position. I've already talked about that of Idowu. If we could get a good left-footed player. We can play him in the LCB and probably draft V.Moses to the LWB. Doing the above means bossing the both flanks. The opposing team might have no choice but to try the middle where they will meet both Onazi and Ndidi. With this, even Germany go confirm say Nigeria sabi ball. We can now say go!!! Super Eagles. And who says we no fit win world cup with this formation and the right players? 1 Like |

Dannyxy:. Preach brother, preach. They will tell u it's cos they wish well for him or they want to see him play better but deep down it's to avoid the imaginary disgrace or disappointment in their 'patriotic' minds. It's just like a Nigerian parent who sees the huge amount of work and time his child puts into reading only to come out with a '2nd' or '3rd'. Instead of the parent to congratulate and encourage the child by saying 'u tried but I believe in u and know u will do better next time because u can' h/she will say 'just look at u,carrying 2nd. When I was ur age I was carrying 1st. Does the person that carried 1st position have two heads? Is it not the same teachers that taught u? Look at ur friend chima took 1st and u took 2nd. U'r not ashamed of yourself'. The truth is Nigerians are one of the most hypocritical and judgemental people on earth with with wicked hearts too. My brothers and sisters pls let us learn to appreciate what we have the best way we can. If u could do it better than them,u won't be here analysing what we have. Criticize but do so with love. England no dey waste time hype their players oo,even those with naija origin. Let's emulate them. 2 Likes |

So because Martins was frozen out by the previous Coaches and he wasn't part of the Team that qualified us for the World Cup, hence we should sentimentally ignore his Qualities?! Lol! I hope you can answer this simple Question bro..... do you want Enyeama in the World Cup Team List or not?! |

Iheanacho can not bench Vardy, Mahrez, Okazaki, & Gray. He just does not have it. He needs to improve upon certain rudimental skills of football such as deft first touch and ability to dribble with ease. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Icon79: Mahrez mainly plays as a RW. Nacho was bought to play mainly as a SS and fill in for Vardy occasionally. Puel has come in with a different style and is playing Mahrez behind Vardy. With the results so far, I don't think he'll move Mahrez back to the wings useless Gray gets injured. |

As for this Martins argument, he no doubt deserves to get a look in. He has been playing in the same league as Ighalo and has been just as consistent or maybe even better. He is still quick, technically gifted and probably a better finisher than Ighalo. Forget his age - we don't have too many options upfront. Him making our world cup squad is not as preposterous as some are making it out to be. 2 Likes |

edi287:awon too many options. We have just ONE space upfront......and there are far better players than Martins that can take up that ONE space. We don't need TOO MANY, after all, e no go pass seven forwards wey we dey carry go Brazil, we need ENOUGH and we have that, anybody filling that one space is EXTRA. |

BascoVanVeli: Victor was a Starter before he got injured, and I'm certain he's gonna be back in the Fold once he returns to full fitness. Ndidi is playing Week in Week out at Leicester City, he's a guaranteed Name on the List on every Match Day. Iwobi is an intergral Part of Arsenal. He's competing with Ozil and Sanchez for the starting Berth, hence him being on the Bench is justifiable. He's having the same Fate with Elneny, Walcott, Wilshere, Coquelin and Co in the Team. And he's starting Cup Matches regularly. Moses Simon, Ekong, Shehu, Idowu, Aina, Ebuehi, Ogu, Onazi, Mikel, Ighalo, Agu, Nwakaeme etc are Starters for the respective Clubs, so where is Racism coming from?! |

Oasis007: Kindly point out d part where i said i don't want martins back pls... Rohr already said it many times that the door is wide open for the oldies in the team... even Yakubu still has a chances of coming out of retirement and play for the SE... But if Rohr isn't willing to take Martins to d world cup it will have little or maybe zero negative effect on the team.. We have been doing well so far without him so what's the use of him now?? He will be a valuable addition to d team if he doesn't get picked, heaven won't fall abeg... the same applies to Enyeama (with respect to ur question) |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by komekn(m): 7:22pm On Nov 29, 2017 |
COOL10: Football is essentially a short term career , you must understand and appreciate this. That means time is a very expensive commodity and indeed a scarce one the higher you go the less time you get. For instance in Manchester City and similar if you get three games and you have not performed that could be the end of you. There is no compromise for success. Reasonable time in the EPL could 2 or 3games. Bottom half of the EPL, you probably get up to six games after that you are on your own. The EPL is not a training ground to create players you get into the club on the basis of projected and anticipated expectation. How many games has KC played and how many goals KC in the context of Leicester has simply not matched up to expectation and by any other unit of measurement has not performed to be diplomatic. Something else you should know football has very short memories, what he did at City is now history, if he does not perform he will find himself in the Championship which may not prove any easier. So his best option will be too look at a more technical league and one that is not so physically intense, possibly Seria A, La Liga and the Bundesliga. 1 Like |

It's easy to criticize but mehn for those in the thick of the action it's war! Idowu: How I Faced Anxiety, Uncertainty Before Joining Super Eagles Camp For The First Time Newly capped Super Eagles defender, Bryan Idowu, says he was filled with anxiety and grappled with uncertainty ahead of his first meeting with the Nigerian team, Completesportsnigeria.com reports. Idowu had his first experience with the Super Eagles following his invitation to the team for the international friendly encounter against Argentina in Krasnodar on November 14 2017. The 25-year-old hinted that he was unsure how he would be received by his new teammates after they arrived in Russia for the clash against La Albiceleste. “There was a feeling that I had come to view. Everything is new, you do not know anybody, nobody knows me, it’s unclear how we will meet, what will be the situation, how I will look in training,” Idowu told Amkar Perm’s official website. “I watched as a real football fan of John Obi Mikel, who at Chelsea took all the big titles, on Ndidi and Ihenacho, who play in Leicester, Iwobi at London’s Arsenal. “A lot of good players, whose game I used to watch on TV. And then they greet me and now we are together in the same team. “The atmosphere and the training process were positive, a lot of jokes during warm-up, for example. And I think everyone saw a video where I played a song on a chair, as traditionally done by all newcomers – this is one of the positive moments that were in the team.” brian-idowu-super-eagles-completesportsnigeria.com The defender whose father is Nigerian and mother half Nigerian and half Russian went on to score in the game against Argentina after replacing Ola Aina. Idowu described the occasion as the best moment of his career in the last two years. He said: “Over the past two years, the goal for Nigeria, of course, is the brightest event for me because it came in my first match for the country. “There were a lot of fans inside the stadium. When the ball flew into the goal, I did not even believe that I really managed to score on my debut. ”I was emotional after the game. Everyone was happy for me when I scored, and it’s nice. Source:Completesportsnigeria.com 3 Likes |
