Humility017: there is nothing I won't hear. So when Omeruo was playing for the U23's(Chelsea's U23 is way better than Leicester's) it was a very bad thing, but now that Iheanacho is playing for Leicester's U23 they will suddenly win the chinese cup if they register for it? Just read this again and check if it makes sense even to you 3 Likes |

As in thesame guy that can bring down a ball travelling at an astonishing pace with just one single touch without even stretching his legs? The thing tire me. I will agree that Kanu is better than Anelka and Adebayor(put together sef) but Bergkamp? Kai 2 Likes |

nelszx: most of the world cups have been won by teams who had difficulties during the qualifiers. France did it, Italy and even Argentina before. Tbh I see Argentina in the final, does that mean they must top our group? No, we can that's assuming Croatia plays the way they did at the Euros instead of the way they played against Greece. Do not forget Sirgudsson and his crosses and setpiece prowess so I wouldn't write off Iceland, like someone mentioned before, at the world cup minor things like setpieces determine games. At the last world cup we lost to Argentina and France because of crosses/setpieces. In 2010 we lost to Argentina and drew against SK because of setpieces, I can go on and on and Iceland have a wonderful setpiece king, that should worry us as well but we can navigate the group |

Mujtahida: the primary problem we have is that we are too eager to jump to the future forgetting that the past gives us a better springboard. I have mentioned it before that Iheanacho merits his place on the plane to Russia(despite his poor form) and I still want to believe that, where I now have a problem is people kicking against bringing Martins to camp at all, I mean if he comes and the coaches and team psychos believe he is bad for the team(based on performance or otherwise) then there is no harm done, if he comes to training and outperforms Ighalo and Iheanacho then one of them has to make way and return for the AFCON, there are no sentiments just perform and you are in. Now we are also talking about Enyeama and people are bringing up a totally unrelated analogy(Rufai's case). I mean Rufai was on holidays, Enyeama still trains every other day with the team physiotherapist so is he fit? Absolutely but he may be match rusty which can be corrected with training sessions not even a match, there is a big difference between the two but people here once they have a personal issue with you, that's it |

Mujtahida: top quality post. I will not lie I'm not 100% convinced that martins can still deliver in the green white green but like you said his recent performances are hard to ignore. If there's a chance that he can transfer his good club form into the national team then I think it's a chance worth exploring 1 Like |

mank1234: I would have tagged this is a ridiculous comment but for let me clear you up. Enyeama is not on the bench, if he is fit he would be a starter for just about any club. So saying a benchwarmer will score if he is given a chance gives a whole new meaning to the word 'ridiculous' |

Mickael2:Ridiculous! Yes it is but somehow flows from your argument. Before you said he's fit because he trains with the team. Now you're saying he's not fit. So why should he be invited if he's not fit? Besides if he doesn't play, what makes him different from other bench warmers? Does it mean bench warmers don't train as well? 5 Likes |

chrisooblog:exactly, I'm having a feeling Nigeria's biggest test will be against Iceland, Croatia is a hyped footballing nation, Mexico defeated them at the World Cup 4-0 last four year! Nigeria can get a draw or a win against Argentina because I think Nigeria will be playing the weakest argentine team in recent times but beating Iceland won't be easy though it's possible. |

jihday: Arsenal fan since 1998 and clearly missed Sylvan Wiltord was a striker. Shows your memory of the team then is clearly disillusioned. Bergkamp vs Kanu, fell down to opportunity. At the time Kanu was in Ajax, there was a season Kanu was among the top players in the World. At Arsenal, due to the Heart condition, he did not get the required amount of run to prove the competition. Mind you, I did not say Kanu is better than Bergkamp but writng against your notion that Kanu does not come close. That clearly is not true. |

2018 World Cup: Ighalo speaks on Nigeria vs Argentina Published on December 2, 2017 By John Owen Nwachukwu Super Eagles striker, Odion Ighalo has admitted Nigeria’s World Cup zone is ‘a tough group’ but feels that his side can qualify from Group D. The Super Eagles have been drawn against debutants Iceland, Croatia and eternal rivals, Argentina for their sixth World Cup campaign since 1994. Nigeria was knocked out at the second round in the last World Cup in Brazil and Ighalo, who will be eyeing his World Cup debut, knows his side must prepare well and compete for points He told SuperSport, “It is a tough group and even the other teams there, will be wary of Nigeria too. “I believe this because if they look at our past records, especially our qualification to the World Cup not losing any game and our last friendly win over Argentina. “I won’t tell lie, it’s a tough group but I believe we can come out if we stick to our plans for what we have been doing throughout the qualifiers, we can qualify. “Iceland are doing well right now and we saw what they were able to do against England at the Euro 2016 and how they qualified for the World Cup,” he continued. “There is not going to be pushovers among these teams and if we have to beat all these teams, we have to be at our best.” Nigeria begin their campaign against Croatia on June 16, 2018 at the Kaliningrad Stadium, before squaring up with Iceland and Argentina. 3 Likes |

Javier Mascherano : Argentina Vs Nigeria Is A World Cup Clasico Published: December 02, 2017 Speaking at a McDonalds event following the World Cup draw on Friday, Barcelona's Argentina international Javier Mascherano has labelled the meeting between Argentina and Nigeria on June 16 a World Cup Clasico. The two continental powerhouses have faced off four times in the group stage in the last six editions of the World Cup, with Argentina narrowly beating the Africans by the odd goal on each occasion. ''It's a harder group than you think. It was clear we were not going to get an easy group,'' Mascherano was quoted as saying by Olé Argentina. ''All the rivals are difficult especially the first game, but you have to play it. ''Nigeria have become a clasico for us in the World Cup, they have been improving like all the teams.'' Mascherano started and went the distance in Argentina's wins against Nigeria at the 2010 and 2014 World Cups in South Africa and Brazil respectively, and also featured in the recent friendly in Krasnodar. Eguavoen sends big warning to Eagles over Croatia & Iceland .com - Source Dec 2, 2017 11:04 AM Following the draw for the Russia 2018 World Cup which has pitted Nigeria against Croatia, Iceland and eternal rivals Argentina, former Super Eagles coach Austin Eguavoen believes Nigeria must beware of the two European sides in the group. Speaking on SuperSport shortly after the draw ceremony, Eguavoen said: “It’s not a bad draw. But we must be careful of Iceland and Croatia. “It’s good that we are seen as the underdogs of the group because this would help the team. But we must make sure we get the preparation right.” Eguavoen, a former Nigeria international who played at the USA ’94 World Cup, also warned that despite beating Argentina recently in an international friendly, the South Americans must not be taken for granted. “Argentina will not be easy for us. But the good thing is that we play them last in the group,” he said. “So it’s very important that we win our first game of the group as that would give the team a lot of confidence going into the competition.” Cc: Icon79 2 Likes |

2018 World Cup: I wanted to avoid Nigeria – Croatian coach, Dalic dailypost.ng -Source Dec 2, 2017 8:17 AM Head coach of Croatia, Zlatko Dalic, has said his team wasn’t lucky to have been drawn alongside Nigeria at the FIFA World Cup draw in Moscow on Friday. According to him, Nigeria was the one African team he had hoped to avoid meeting at the group stages. Dalic told reporters that he had been following the Nigerian team because of the young and fantastic players paraded by the Super Eagles. He said, “I know your team very well. They are a very good side. They finished the qualifiers unbeaten and are not afraid of anybody. I’m not very happy to have Nigeria in my group. “All of their players are in Europe and they are very unpredictable to play against. It is our first game and it will be difficult for us to play against your team. “We now know our opponents and we must go and start work immediately. “We have to go and look for video tapes of the games of all our opponents but I know it’s not going to be easy to play these teams, especially Nigeria.” The Super Eagles will play Croatia in their first Group D match before facing Iceland and Argentina. 2 Likes |

Mickael2:another delusional statement Just any club? You overrate Enyeama. He isn't Buffon, he isn't De Gea, currently, he's not even Ondoa, so how can you say that he would be a starter for jist about any club when no EPL club, for instance, would buy him? The way some people talk about Enyeama here, one would think he has never let in a goal. Enyeama that once we give away a Corner, 95% of the time, you know he won't save it. Abeg let January do and come make we see the just any club that Enyeama will start for 1 Like |

Oh, you don't tell me. Nigeria would have won 2002 World Cup but for squabbles –Adeboye Onigbinde By Austin Peters - December 2, 2017 Coach Adeboye Onigbinde has sensationally declared that Nigeria would have won the 2002 World Cup in Korea/Japan but for the internal squabbles that overtook his team at the championship. The Super Eagles failed to go past the first round in Korea/Japan, but Onigbinde said he strongly believed if not for the bickerings that bedeviled his team at the World Cup, Nigeria would have made history. “There was nothing stopping us from winning the World Cup (in 2002), but for internal problems in my team,” Onigbinde told Channels Television. “If we had drawn with Argentina and beaten Sweden, we would have qualified for the next round and we could have gone all the way to win the World Cup.” He said the biggest problem his team faced was the attitude of some of the players. “The attitude of some of the players made me to overhaul the team after we lost to both Argentina and Sweden and we drew with England in our final group game,” he recalled. Onigbinde has now back Nigeria to go all the way and win the World Cup next year in Russia. “I said this a few months ago and some people thought it was a joke,” he said. “It’s possible, let’s prepare World Cup and Nigeria can win the World Cup.” Nigeria are drawn in Group D along with Argentina, Croatia and Iceland. They open their Russia 2018 campaign on the night of June 16 against Croatia. Today.ng 1 Like |
