A case for Obafemi though. At Henry's age, he was bossing in the Champions League. I can never forget how he messed up Maldini and Nesta that year at the San Siro. Maldini said he was the most difficult player he ever encountered.

Big shout out to Iwobi. Even though his side lost, he showed dedication and worked hard to influence the game. He made a lot of right decisions with his passes and showed his depth in playing multiple roles. Very impressive.

lol wiltord was a winger, but then arsenal played the 4-4-2 formation with Henry and either Kanu or bergkamp occasionally Wiltord or ljunberg, because you see Wiltord been played as a striker occasionally doesn't mean he's not a winger even in the clip you posted you'll see him supplying passes to Kanu from the wings. and I still stand by my point, Kanu doesn't come close to Bergkamp.

I wont be surprised if he's dropped. Truth is he's not really been impressive since the Match against Algeria. Some say it's because he ought not to be played as an AM but what then does versatility mean? Against Algeria he was lost. In any case it's up to him to stake a claim for a place in the final 23 cos I believe he would make the initial cut before the pruning down to 23

Long ball. Keshi relied a lot on long balls. That was why a lot of the old guns hardly made it. From Osaze, Martins and K. Uche. Apart from Musa, Keshi relied on big players to lead his attack. From Emenike, Ideye, Shola Ameobi, Bright Dike, to some extent Osaguona and Uchebo.

Martins would hardly fit into that system unless he played on the wings.

This is exactly the reason why national coaches may not look at the performance of a player under a previous national coach. Most look at their recent club form to see if what they give is what they are looking to add to their team. It's always the fans that cry about past national performances. As long as the player is still performing, he always has a chance to get another look, and that's if the current coach likes what he sees.
