Your question is not dumb.

The school will accept your scores etc but will not treat you as a priority deadline applicant. Some schools are more accomodating and will treat you as one if you have paid app fee and submitted the app (even if you are still waiting for GRE and TOEFL). However, some others will not and only deem you early if all the test scores and app fee have been submitted on or before that deadline. So contact your school's grad coord to know which one the school falls under.

Yes, precisely some do but it is hard and competitive. I know Cleveland state sponsored some M.S fall 2017 EE applicants so there is that. I know UA Fayetteville sponsored 1 or 2 M.S applicants even on NL but not for EE. I know LSU and Wyoming funded some M.S candidates as well. I know the top schools barely fund for M.S apart from MIT and the other top 50s could, but it is uber-competitive.

If you really want that M.S funding, you may need to set your gaze on the B-rated (between 70- 130 schools).
Thanks for your reply erudite scholar, your selflessness is worthy of emulation.

Greetings my people.

I finally got my AW score today.

150Q 161V 4.0AW

I also wrote TOEFL today at JKK. Does anyone knows how long it takes to get TOEFL scores?

But ponpon's offer is way better. Endeavor to use it if available.

Good morning House,

I had my GRE exam on Friday and the outcome was very saddening for me. V 154 Q 154.
my proposed course of study Is Msc Electrical engineering. two major things affected me, I didn't have enough study time cos of my hectic work schedule and also while writing the exam (during Quants) I was pressed and needed to ease myself so I just rushed through the second Quants part.
I Suspect that should be my dragdown for the Quants.
with the below profile I don't know if there is any hope for me or I should retake the exam.

CGPA 4.07
Institutions that I sent my scores to.
University of Colorado Denver
Texas tech university
Lakehead University(Canada)
University of British Columbia(Canada)

Though I'm beginning to consider other countries where it's only IELTS/TOEFL combined with other normal requirements will be the criteria.

Quant Guide

Materials: Manhattan set of 8 strategy guides, Manhattan 5lb and GRE Official guide.

If you are a mathematics guru, you can skip 1 and 2.

1)I will advise you start with the 8 strategy guide, it might look simple however, the purpose of the using the book is to learn different strategies and tricks needed to ace the quant section so try and endure to finish it even if it seem boring. If you are solving any question and you noticed you have spent 1 minute and have not gotten the answer, it simply means you are not using the right strategy. Remember, GRE is not testing your mathematical prowess directly but to assess your smartness, accuracy, speed and efficiency. Take note of your weakness as you are progressing.

2) Afterwards, proceed to Manhattan 5lb. Don’t be daunted due to the size, it only contains 23 quant topics which you can finish in two weeks if you are going at a pace of two topics per day. Remember, it’s all about strategies. Watch out for your performance in your weakness noted in (1). You can also essay the advance quants questions in the book cheesy if you are targeting a perfect score and a 50% score implies you are good to go but it is not important.

3) I will highly suggest you take some practice tests e.g Power prep 1, Manhattan, Magoosh or Princeton.

4) The next step would be dependent on your weakness in the practice test. You should be able to deduce if you are lacking in some topics or your accuracy and/or speed is low.

a) If you are lacking in some topics, I will advise revising 8 strategy guides and solving questions from other mathematics prep materials like Princeton 1014 questions, Barron or Nova.

b) If your weakness is your low speed, I would suggest that you revised the 8 strategy guide because it simply means you lack strategies and tricks.

5) Wrap it up with the official guide. The chapter on mathematics review is still the best for revision. Don’t trivialize it.

6) Finish it up with Power prep 2

TIPS for acing quants

1. Be open-minded and don’t forget to insert these numbers: -1, -½, 0, ½, and 1 when solving quantitative comparison questions. There are some questions that would require you to insert a large positive or negative numbers however, you will be able to discern them with practice.

2. In your practice tests, I would advise you don’t review your answers and move to the next section even if you have some minutes left. Make it your habit and your accuracy will improve tremendously.

3. Before solving any question, the first step is to read the question and understand it, then take note of any constraint inherent in the question such as whether the parameter is an integer or not, positive or negative, whether the parameter is a square which might nullify any negative answer etc and lastly, write the parameter you are looking for in an equation form before solving to avoid error. For example, "if you are told to find how old shola would be in the next two years", you should probably write S+2 somewhere and put question mark in front of it before solving the question and after finding your S, you can then check back for the constraint and the expected answer. This tip is very helpful and would reduce error drastically.

4. The God factor.

Note: They are not sacrosanct, just my opinion.

Hello guys, please i am currently preparing for my GRE.

Please does any one has access to magoosh premium account. please kindly share login and password with this email lolokike2@gmail.com

Please i would appreciate the help.

Thanks in advance.

Also please which of the materials are best for preparing for verbal??
Re: How To Achieve High Scores On The GRE by aamstih: 6:16pm On Dec 04, 2017
Hi guys, It’s necessary I give back to this family in order for prospective test takers to glean one or two salient points.

I ‘Gave’ the GRE on the 1st of Dec at JKK (Q156 V150) VQVQV

From what I saw I think the Manhattan series is enough for quants depending on your quants foundation, if you’ve got more time endeavour to go through the Magoosh videos as it aids with smart strategies. Fall in love with some necessary topics like geometry and Data Interpretation, probability, algebra etc.

As regards Verbal, I think for those of us that attended backyard schools the only part of the GRE that remains and would be of great use would be the vocabs… You would remain thankful for GRE when you read books/ articles and you come across words like furtive and exculpating. The vocabs that I encountered were very basic, the ‘arcane’ vocabs that I saw there were abstruse, qualify and idyll .

The reading comprehension I met were mostly the ‘infer’ questions type and I started thinking of when the nearest available date would be in-order for me to retake. The RCS were inundated with Michelangelo and planetary bodies embarassed. Practice and LOVE Rc's

And the last and the devil… Please don’t joke with AWA as AWA might decide to joke with you. I thought I could do what is required for AWA using some hours to the exams… I crammed magoosh’s and crunchprep template, it was time to commence AWA I went blank, that was where I lost composure for the exams and started thinking about deadlines since it was obvious I have disgraced myself, I couldn’t regain my composure throughout the exams, I accepted defeat too early cry cry.

It actually pains when you know you can do better. As for all those that have ever contributed positively on this thread, thanks so much❤️… My bosses them (you know yourselves cool), keep up the good work.

I didnt write this much on AWA though.... lolz

It is an algorithm that works randomly. My first GRE I had 3 Qs and in my 2nd, I had 3 Vs.

I am an engineering grad.

Good day Mr scholastica. Thank you for the great job you are doing. I noticed a lot of information on engineering and other courses. I will really appreciate it if i could get information on schools in the USA and Canada on masters and PhD in the medical line. Am working on writing the GRE in February. Thank you.

@sir Riddy...thanks very much for doing a great job on this forum....more kudos......for 4 pointers...it is strongly advised (as mentioned by sir Riddy) that you apply for the PhD route (which is normally 5 years) and only (IMO) apply to schools that can fully fund your PhD programs .....top schools can....and try to ACE the GRE....there are very good materials that can help...also join some GRE forums and look at testimonies of those that aced the exam (these indians and chinese sef!)...and learn what they did and did not good.....wishing you all the very best!

Okay *panting* *pauses and drinks chilled water* from page 0 to 101 am making progress.
Seen lots of sites read many experiences that have touched my heart...
Sirriddy danjaninja Pennstate femi321, ponpon mrjojo, happyday and so many wonderful people that am sure are already really busy with masters....

Ok ghost mode activated still have about 219 pages to go... Isokayyy...

Magoosh videos for verbal
Manhattan for quants

Wish I perfected my quants strategies and didn't end up making silly mistakes/errors.

Also watch out for the timer, the 35 mins in Q is lik 15 mins if you lose guard.
