seyewest: Thanks for your response, our plan was to travel by road from JFK so as to safe cost. Do you think this will be an issue at PoE? Even though myself and wife would love to visit NY for pleasure but our children want to visit Disney world, Florida. Since we're going through JFK, is it advisable we book two hotels visit NY for pleasure, then head to Florida afterwards? Bearing in mind during interview we mentioned only Disney world Florida. Prompt response will be highly appreciated as we are going in less than 2 weeks |

RDCSL: unfortunately for you taking a bus trip is more expensive than flying.... Please do your homework.. go to Bus site and airline website to compare prices. |

Hello house,Plz will like to ask if your destination is New York for a conference ,and decide to visit another state after the conference since you still have more time basically just to know places. can one reroute once flight , instead of coming back to New York to connect your flight back to lagos, one can simply connect his/her flight from any state, provided the ticketing company can do a rerouting for such flight. Is it allowed and not an offence |

Terminator123:Depending on the kind of job you do because you can't spend 6 weeks away from your job in one year.... just saying but I don't think there's gonna be any problem at POE. 1 Like 1 Share |

Re: U.S Visit: Port Of Entry Interview/stories. by bigbus: 3:20pm On Dec 03, 2017 |
seyewest: Exactly! Even Emirates to Orlando at 645k (or thereabouts) may end up more suitable than when they fly to NY (Ethiopian/Air Maroc at about 450k) and start adding local flights, plus taxis for transfers, plus checked in baggage. He can check Washington and other airports. Maybe can still find cheap tickets via other routes. ~If Lagos- anywhere is delayed and connection missed, the pax may need to buy a new local ticket in US sha. It's a personal opinion/strategy, based on past experience. 1 Like |

boye123: No wahala. Provided you are stamped in for a longer period than the dates of your conference. Don't stay too many extra days though, as that my affect renewal of your visa. About the switching connections, be wary of: Change fee, re-issue fee, route change new fares. It can be more expensive than just returning to New York to connect back to Lagos. Some times, NY has the cheapest fares for flying to the US. 1 Like |

Iphy24: There shouldn't be. Just make sure that your friend is reachable/available at the time of your arrival, in case the CBP wants to crosscheck. Have the phone number and address handy. Make sure your friend is good about the above. (To be extra prepared, I will add knowing how to get to West Virginia by train.) 1 Like |

Re: U.S Visit: Port Of Entry Interview/stories. by RDCSL: 7:58pm On Dec 03, 2017 |
bigbus: thanks for your response. However, we already booked return ticket NY/Lagos. Since we planned to visit NY, then afterwards visit Disney World Florida with our children, hope this is not a problem with PoE because initially during interview we only mentioned Florida. Secondly, we booked hotel in NY which after head to Florida (our initial plan during interview). Is it okay to fill the NY hotel on the i94 form and also let them know we're visiting NY for pleasure & Disney World Florida (for children). |

Iphy24:I don't think that will be a problem... If they ask you let them know your plan is to arrive early so you can sort out your school registration. |

Re: U.S Visit: Port Of Entry Interview/stories. by bigbus: 11:22pm On Dec 03, 2017 |
RDCSL: This is what I would do. But you can research more. Equally important is ensuring that the NY Hotel booking remains valid by the time you are at the POE, in case the CBP wants to call the hotel to crosscheck, and also so that you don't arrive to the hotel with no room for your family. |
Re: U.S Visit: Port Of Entry Interview/stories. by RDCSL: 12:05am On Dec 04, 2017 |
bigbus: thank you. I have also called the hotel to confirm the book. We currently have two hotel bookings. One for NY and the other for Disney world Florida. That means if asked destination at PoE, we would mention NY and Florida or just mention NY only? Sorry for asking, just want to be 100% clear |
Re: U.S Visit: Port Of Entry Interview/stories. by seyewest(m): 2:17pm On Dec 04, 2017 |
RDCSL:okay that was exactly what I did when I was going to Atlanta because I wanted to stay in New York for 2 days before proceeding to Atlanta. |
Re: U.S Visit: Port Of Entry Interview/stories. by seyewest(m): 3:26pm On Dec 04, 2017 |
RDCSL:Mention NY first and add Florida it's actually no big deal just enjoy your trip and nice to know you have the booking confirmed. |

RDCSL: RDCSL: RDCSL:Hi, i had same experience when my kids and I went for Easter hols in April. Firstly fill your Florida address in your I-94. At POE tell them your destination is Disney Orlando but transiting through Newyork. Not an issue at all. We also had 2 hotel reservations in Manhattan and Orlando. We stayed 2 days in NYC before leaving for Florida by road. Road is far cheaper than air. Try booking the onward trip from Naija. 22-24 hours road trip but quite enjoyable as we got to pass and stop through many cities. We used gotobus(china buses) and was about $90 per trip( the cheapest we saw) while domestic air was about $260 per trip. Attached is a pics of their experience there. They had fun and the road trip was enjoyable. 6 Likes

shrekandfiona: Oh wow! great! That makes a whole lot of sense. However I would like to ask, did u also made hotel reservation for the 2 days your family spent in NY and presented it with the main Florida hotel reservation? or you just walked in to book at NY Also for the gotobus (China) did you booked from here or NY |
Re: U.S Visit: Port Of Entry Interview/stories. by seyewest(m): 9:30pm On Dec 04, 2017 |
shrekandfiona:Great idea about what to fill in I-94 and the hotel but about the flight I think you got it wrong... One way from LGA to Orlando as at today was $125 which is okay and it will be less than $80 if they decided to leave in 2 weeks. go to skyscanner dot com and you can see for yourself.... they can always take a bus back. 1 Like |

seyewest:interesting... maybe if i had gotten domestic flight for that amount or less, would have gone for it. The $260 was the cheapest i saw then both from Laguardia and EWR @RDCSL please book all tickets from Naija. hotels and flights/bus inclusive. That is planning bookingdotcom and skyscanner should take care of that. |

Morning House! Please, do any one have idea of how much in $ will a cab cost from IAH Airport, Houston TX to Greyhound Bus terminal in Houston Texas? My friend plan flying to IAH, Houston, then use greyhound bus to Corpus Christi his final destination Please what do you advice? |
Re: U.S Visit: Port Of Entry Interview/stories. by bigbus: 1:35pm On Dec 06, 2017 |
Jamezy4u: There are several Greyhound terminals in Houston. taxifarefinder (dot com) puts one cab estimate at $63. You better off checking by yourself. IAH also has more than one terminal. All the best. |

gbemmy777:Sorry, I've been so busy. Just seeing this. Qatar plane and services is very nice. The plane we used from Lagos to Doha was ok. That from Doha to Dallas was Superb! Their food is ok. But the lay over is 8 hours. It took me a day to get to Dallas from Lagos. It'll take me two days going back! 1 Like |
