I think the correct answer should be (a) since the subject i.e"the woman" is singular

That is not true because 'sings' is a singular verb while 'sing' is a plural verb.
Note:A verb is singular whenever it has 'S' at its back and it is plural whenever it is without 's'. Therefore it should be 'they sing' and not 'they sings'
