Congratulations to those who have been invited for AC. If successful, you will receive an invitation for medical and then invitation for final documentation and Training school.

Successful candidates shall be contacted before year end or second week next year. And the Training School to start late January or early February.

I will try to get information about documents that successful candidates will possibly be requested to present for documentation because is will always be short notice for documentation and Training School. It is always better to get those documents complete at documentation or latest 2nd week of training school.

Best of lucks to you all.

Please are mails still going out?? Or that's the end?

I am not sure of that but if as at today, you have not received invites, you may need to forget about this recruitment. The assessment is starting next week Monday, except for any exigencies, some additional applicants may be invited next week or next two weeks.

Keep hope alive till then.

Possibly there will not be a stage. It will just be a room with 2 - 4 people (just like an official interview) where you are required to present (tell them):

1. what you believe are the underlying root cause of identified problems in the situation (case study) you read;
2. what possible actions that wrongly taken and missing controls that may have prevented such to occur such problems (what actions or decisions that supposed to have been taken or made);
3. corrective solutions to the problem (what should be done to reverse the effects of the wrong actions and decisions);
4. steps or actions that you are convinced of, that when taken will prevent such problems to occur in the future (your recommendations and suggestive solutions);
5. (if time permits) the current effects and future implications of the identified problems if you recommendations and suggestions are not urgently implemented.

So, take the case study as your friends narrating his/her workplace problems to you (though you have no opportunity to ask questions for clarification but assumptions are allowed and must be made known when presenting). You ask for time to get back to him/her, though you are limited in this case to minutes contained in the instructions. Then see the panel as group of friends to whom you're telling (noticed I used tell them earlier) your view of the situation and how best they should go about solving the problem and things to do not to allow recurrent of such.

Google effective presentation skills and somehow try to
1. Practice presentations of similar things with friends two or more times,
2. Look above the panels eye level and prepare your mind to see them as your friends (you be amazed that you brain can condition your mind to do that),
3. Tell them, you don't need academic or intellectual show here (at least, assessment center, primarily is to evaluate skills and not knowlledge) you opinion of the situation at hand (the cause, solution to correct and prevent future occurrence).

They will ask you questions after your presentation. This is either to get information on some aspects of the case you missed out (attention to details) or get clarification on your recommendations or description of the case given. So don't panic, tell them if you know it and if not be honest to admit you don't commit the details to heart (most times, this always relates to figures and numbers). But at least, immediately and the word BUT after acknowledging that and tell them brief about it a short and simple sentence. For example, I sincerely do not commit the actual number to heart, BUT. I observed that the GDP have been increasing from quarter to quarter with less than 1%.

Skills to be test for personal (individual presentations) are innovative thinking, problems analysis and problems solving skills, attention to details.

For group work, make sure you contribute to discussions at least. This is just to identify some (dominan) personality traits. Are you a dominant person or reserved? These may determine where you may be deployed to if eventually you are successful, whether front office, middle office or back office.

Summary, be yourself and don't be too academic. They are not assessing your academic intelligence, this has already been done with the first two stages.

Hope these help? Thank you.

Thanks so much for this

Thanks bro
I want to ask if u do av an insight as to the range of applicants invited and how many to be likely selected.

More so, would there be at any point questions on ones personality?!

Do MSc guys have an edge over the pure BSc
Also Banking related courses over Engineering/pure Sciences in the final selection...

Will one be paid d basic salary after the 2months training school.. Or will be paid a stipulated sum assigned squarely for the completion of the T.S

lastly, is one certain of deployment immediately after TS...

Thanks bro!!!!

I don't have information on numbers of applicants that were invited for assessment centre. But one post confirmed that they are 300, which I assume can be true. Then with that number, the possible final selection will be around 80 candidates.

There will not be a personality test, I guess or let me say sure of that.

Higher degrees, graduates of banking/financial related courses or professional qualifications except ICT related certifications will not have edge above of other SUCCESSFUL applicants in the assessment centre.

The bank does not pay basic salary to her staff but an emoluments or in their terms compensation. This includes basic salary and other benefits. When you are in their training school you will be paid a stipend. And after training school (TS) you will be deployed immediately. You will be given a week holiday between the end date of the TS and your resumption date, which mostly likely will be at their Head Office, Marina Lagos for about six months before final redeployment to branches or departments you are to work.

1. No
2. Individual comes first.
3. Just presentation (individual and group)
4. I honestly have none but will always based on cases that simulate Union Bank current challenges and future strategy plans.

1. You will be given a flip chart paper and a maker for your presentation. I will advice you to articulate your thoughts before writing on the flip chart paper. You are to go with your one sheet of flip chart paper given, hang the paper on the flip chart stand, then present. On how to use, you should ask around for that yourself but flip chart paper is just like a big photo copying paper (up to the double the size of a poster) and flip chart stand is the board on which you will clip the flip chart paper.
2. You will not be allowed to used anything except the writing materials given to you, which may include biro, a sheet of photocopying, calculator, maker, pencil and sharpener.
3. There is no pre-approved format for your presentation. You are to decide what information you want to discuss or present to the panel based on the case study given to you. That is were your critical thinking and analysis skills come into play with adequate presentation skill.

Thank you, I may not be able to answer further questions along this line as I consider it, with level of education of the candidates invited, this questions are things that can be personally research on at least all candidates must have complete a research work (project).

what do you mean by upfront?

It is an advance payment which is paid every January and August.

January's payment caters for RENT while that of August is for EDUCATION

In other words, part of your salary is saved for you by the bank to be paid at these consecutive months to cater for your pressing needs
Re: Union Bank 2018 Management Trainee Programme by captain1990(f): 5:34pm On Dec 03, 2017
Training school lasts for 9weeks and you will be paid a stipend every month for that duration.

You are entitled to your salary after training school

Deployment may or may not occur immediately. It is likely that you will be on a rotation programme for a period of 6months or more.

So be prepared guys.

Your second degree or professional certification does NOT give you an edge over anyone. Your success will be as a result of your performance at the assessment centre.

WAEC and NECO are accepted

It was good.
First , we were given individual case study to present, we were asked some questions too
Then after it was group discussion. Very simple.
You just have to be time conscious and analyse the case study well.
Nothing to worry about really.
