Joebie: Uzoho had the opportunity due to the exposure of the limitations of Ezenwa and Akpeyi. When Akpeyi faltered, Ezenwa got the chance. Unfortunately, when Ezenwa faltered, Alampasu was not invited and Uzoho was there. Ironically, the coaching crew opted for Akpeyi again. This will tell you it was not all about quality but trying to keep the older keepers in goal. When Akpeyi faltered again, Uzoho got the nod and the difference was clear. If Alampasu was on the bench when these happened, he would have gotten the nod. Not that he was not good enough. 3 Likes |

Russia 2018 World Cup: Good football not names will decide Group D’s fate — Moses Chelsea wing- back Moses , a former England Under - 21 cap who chose to represent the land of his birth in 2012 , said , “ We keep getting Argentina for some reason . “ We don’ t want to play against Messi , but it is what it is . We ’ ve got to go and play our football and see what happens . “ After what Iceland did last year (beating England in the last 16 of the Euros ), football nowadays , there ’s no easy game. “ Argentina are going to be scared of us as well . “ It ’s all about football at the end of the day . “ Everyone at Chelsea was saying we’ re going to get a thrashing and we’re not going to make it through the group stage . “ Hopefully we can go out there and make the nation proud and get out of the group.” Saturday ’ s win over Newcastle was Moses ’ s first start since limping out of the Premier League defeat to London rivals Crystal Palace in September with a hamstring injury. And he made a triumphant return , setting up Alvaro Morata ’ s goal before later winning a penalty from which Eden Hazard sealed a 3 - 1 victory . Speaking to the BBC , former Tottenham Hotspur star Garth Crooks said , “ I must say Chelsea look far more comfortable with Victor Moses back in the side . He not only provides them with far more options , but he can be quite lethal in the opposition’ s penalty area . “ Of course , it took an Italian coach to work out that Moses had the potential to be one of the most effective wing- backs in the Premier League , leaving all the other coaches Moses has ever worked with looking rather embarrassed . “ Moses has always been decent , but what Conte has done is convert an ordinary player into an outstanding one. What a pity more coaches can ’ t do the same .” |

Mujtahida:My man coz of Uzoho i always watched Nigeria vs Argentina match repeatedly especially 2nd half, with what i saw he has it all to be number one but my major concern and every loving super eagles fans must be concern is him relegated to team B back after two LA liga games. When you see good keeper very easy to know, the guy is damn good.I don't know whom to pick between him and Ajiboye but with his height i w go for Uzoho. The fact that some guys don't want to agree is keeping in team B is not good for his development as our number one keeper to WC. 2 Likes |

Humility017:Firstly am one of the people that said no to Martins inclusions in the team when Michael2 first raised it but my argument was based on the unity of the team not on Martins pedigree as a player. Chinese league is for foreigners who have seen it all in well established league and they paid them just like expatriates coming to develop their league and that's why big money is involved, tell me how many European clubs would pay Ighalo such kind of wages. Truly Martins play in Chinese league but his quality is not in doubt just like John Obi Mikel.Hope you have asked yourself how come Mikel damn good for Eagles now despite playing in Chinese league . 2 Likes |

Mujtahida: My brother forget about these sort of training videos. I watched Deportivo play a couple of weeks back, their goalkeeper Reuben had a poor game. The first goal he conceded looked as if he jumped over the ball. If we go by training regimen, then every European goalkeeper should be on the same level as Buffon. But we known that's not the case. Like I said earlier, the job of a goalkeeper goes beyond catching a ball. The goalkeeper should be technically groomed in the game to the extent that he directs the defence. Hossam El Hadary does not have the sharpest of reflexes but Egypt are very difficult to score against. If a team like Nigeria must do well in the world cup,we need a highly technical and organised defence. After all, defence wins championship. Spain with all their ticki tacka became pragmatic 1 nil merchants to win the World Cup in 2010. If Uzoho demonstrates the leadership qualities to lead the team from behind, he gets my vote to start. But a safer bet for this job should be a fit Vincent Enyeama. Men's Senior world cup is not a developmental tournament where an U19, team B player sign up to learn his trade. 8 Likes |

Kog45: Sergio Romero is Argentine goalie and he hasn't kept more than 10 games between the sticks for Man United from August till date. Does that make him any less of a keeper? Do you know he sometimes keep in EPL2 to keep shape? This is Argentina number 1 here. Uzoho keeps for a B team that play games and he's seeing action that alone is a confidence booster 6 Likes |

Humility017:My man hope you heard me very well i don't want Martins back even Enyeama based on the unity of the team. Pls don't let us be sentimentals when we are trying to pass our messages through analysis. If you are saying Martins is not needed now cos he didn't participate in second round of WC qualifying stage meaning we don't need any players again, those who prosecuted the qualifying matches should make the team. Then we should go to WC with Akpeyi, Ezenwa no need for Uzoho and likes in the team again, player like Idowu should be cut off for not being part of the team team from onset. My opinion on Martins, Enyeama was based solely on the unity and love that is reigning in the team.I don't want any player to scatter the peace apart from that i respect them as a player. 1 Like 1 Share |

nelszx:Pls let us stop comparing what is not just cos we want to justify what is not justifiable. I have been one of the guys here clamouring for Uzoho after watching him against Girona just to tell you how i rate the young man. Initially i had heated arguments with chriskel when he said by January the guy should be in eagles and i told him point blank that a team b keeper cannot be considered for Eagles. The following week after our arguments Uzoho was drafted to main team and kept two matches,i watched him against Girona and the guy came good. Now back to team B with not much experience in LA liga and even national team and we are saying all is well for our potential number one to be playing in division three,No i w never agreed. I want him to fight for his place in the main team not as team B keeper, six months to WC is not far so we need him in top shape keeping regularly with tested players not youth players. Pls I want to ask a question who is Manchester United 1st choice and 2nd choice keeper and how many matches has Romero kept in EPL 2. According to you Sergio Romero has kept upto 10 matches for main Manchester united team,i believe that is a plus for him cos he has one of the best keeper in the world as number one. Do you think i w be complaining if Uzoho is in man utd deputising for Dee Gea or even deputising in the main team of Deportivo cos opportunity to be in goal can come anytime. Once again i want Uzoho to be in Deportivo main team and not team B cos he has the potential to be Eagles number one at WC,keeping in team B could jeopardize his chances. |

Babayaro Attacks Rohr, Agu: Uzoho, Ezenwa & Akpeyi Are Not The Best Nigerian GKs Published: December 05, 2017 Retired Nigeria U23 international Emmanuel Babayaro is at it again after criticizing the Super Eagles coaching staff led by Gernot Rohr for not doing a good job as regards to the goalkeeping department. During the World Cup qualifiers, Rohr utilized three goalkeepers Carl Ikeme, Daniel Akpeyi and Ikechukwu Ezenwa, who was in goal for the last four matches, while Deportivo de La Coruña youngster Francis Uzoho played the second half of Nigeria's win over Argentina last month. ''I must confess that I am not comfortable with the three goalkeepers we have in the team now,'' Babayaro was quoted as saying by Vanguard Nigeria, who made reference to Channels Television . ''They are not the best the country has and the coaches handling that department are not doing enough on them.'' Lille netminder Vincent Enyeama was the undisputed first choice goalkeeper for the Super Eagles at the 2010 and 2014 World Cups but has called time on his career with the national team. Nigeria have conceded 26 goals at the World Cup, an average of 5.2 goals in a tournament since their first appearance in USA 1994. Ifeanyi Emmanuel Source: Ans 6 Likes |

Eagles Scout Agali – Rohr Knows His World Cup Squad, No New Players Needed The newly appointed chief scout of the Super Eagles Victor Agali says coach Gernot Rohr won’t be considering new players in his squad for the World Cup in Russia next year. Agali made this known in a television programme in Lagos monitored by Owngoalnigeria.com, while responding to a question on if new players are going to make the squad to the World Cup. He said there will be no need for new players in the team as the coach already has the team he plans taking to the World Cup 2018, and bringing in new players could disrupt the understanding in the team. “The players are fired up now, the bonding is strong and they understand themselves, there would be no need to disrupt that understanding by bringing in new players. Rohr already has the players he will need at the World Cup”, Agali remarked. Ade Emmanuel 1 Like |

junnyjake:Alloy Agu is seriously gambling with super eagles coz anytime i see Ezenwa in team line up photography,i do asked myself is this only guy Alloy can produced in NPFL.. I remember in old Nigeria league, for a keeper to be considered for Eagles he must be number one in his club and number one in entire league. Reverse is the case now, what we have now is a keeper who has been finding it difficult to be number one in his club but number one in national team, pls on what criteria. If Ezenwa was damn good and has good prospect i believe Ifeanyi Uba would have renewed his contract but they allowed him to go with no bickering with Enyimba that signed him. This is the same league that produced Best Ogedegbe, Patrick Okala,Peter Rufai,Segun Oguns, Edward Ansha,Wifred Agbonavbare, Alloy Agu,Christian Obi, Willy Opara,Peterside Idah,Agus Ikeji,Emeka Amadi,Murphy Akanji,Ike Shorunmu,Dosu Joseph,Andrew Aikhomogbe, Lemmy Isah,Emma Babayaro, Abiodun Baruwa,Greg Etafia,Austin Ejide,Vincent Enyeama, Dele Aiyenugba etc I don't think we are lacking but Alloy is not doing enough cos when it comes to keeper in NPFL,haba we must find at least two solid ones instead of going for all these regional league keepers in Europe. 4 Likes 1 Share |
