Uzoho had the opportunity due to the exposure of the limitations of Ezenwa and Akpeyi. When Akpeyi faltered, Ezenwa got the chance. Unfortunately, when Ezenwa faltered, Alampasu was not invited and Uzoho was there. Ironically, the coaching crew opted for Akpeyi again. This will tell you it was not all about quality but trying to keep the older keepers in goal.

When Akpeyi faltered again, Uzoho got the nod and the difference was clear. If Alampasu was on the bench when these happened, he would have gotten the nod.

I honestly don't know why he didn't make the 2014 World Cup team. But facts are facts, he was tried out and didn't make the team. But to be honest with you, I was actually surprised that he missed the cut in 2014 because I knew that Martins was having an MVP season at Seattle. But, for whatever reason, Keshi felt that the likes of Shola Ameobi, Michael Uchebo, and Uche Nwofor were better than him. But he would have definitely made my 2014 World Cup team, if I were making the cut.

But now, my case against Martins is that:
First, he's simply not better than the players we currently have in the team. I frankly don't see whom he could replace in the current team.
Secondly, he's way too old for us to waste a world cup slot on him. Since we are in rebuilding mode, any vacant slots should go to young players (Osihmen, Onyekuru, Kayode, etc).
Third, Martins isn't playing in a competitive league any more so his stats might not tell the whole story. Yes, numbers can actually lie. Scoring 10 goals in the Chinese league isn't the same thing as scoring 10 goals in EPL.
Fourthly, if Martins is so indispensable to the team, why didn't these folks clamoring for his recall made this case during the qualifiers? Now that we've qualified, all of a sudden we remember that we don't have a team without Obafemi Martins. Are you kidding me

I use to prefer Martins then to Yakubu cause I felt he was better. I was always surprised when Yakubu starts ahead of him. But since I turned full Super Eagles fan, the nigga haven't really impressed me. Who said Keshi never gave nigga a chance. I watched that match against Kenya. You pick most of the players playing in the best teams in the best leagues, there are always exceptions to this rule as there are other intrinsic factors to be considered.

The core of the team has players playing in the best teams and leagues, you should be fine with that.
